Uber, basically just a cool word for taxi.

People feel cool when they call an Uber. They get to watch the Uber show up, like a video game on their phone.

You get the experience of driving in somebody else’s car.

You get to listen to somebody rant and rave.

Because that’s technically what Uber drivers really are all about.

I haven’t met an Uber driver that didn’t shut up yet.

They tend to talk more than any other person I’ve ever been in a car with.

Almost like they decided to drive in Uber to network (which by the way, there’s nothing wrong with that at all).

I can put up with the chatty Uber driver because I enjoy connecting with people.

I enjoy getting to learn about new people and what made them drive an Uber.

And I’ve met some really interesting people. I met a guy who ran a software business and sold it for millions and millions of dollars. He’s driving Uber now for one reason.

He’s retired and his wife can’t stand to have him in the house. So he leaves the house and he figures he’ll just drive around he meet interesting people that he can talk to. So when he comes home his wife wont be irritated anymore.

I’ve met some people who literally told me they were driving to network.

I’ve met some people who were driving to pay extra bills.

I’ve met people who were driving just to meet somebody. That’s right. I met a female Uber driver who was single and decided that might be the best way for her to meet somebody.

I’ve met people doing all sorts of things driving an Uber, but the one problem Uber is causing…

Is some really bad drivers on the road way too much.

As I’m writing this, I’m dictating.

And I’m watching this guy in a silver Prius go as fast as he can to get wherever he needs to go. Which, by the way, he got to the same stoplight at the same time I did.

He’s weaving in and out of lanes trying to get wherever he needs to go. Cutting everyone off nonstop.

And the big emblem in his window says Uber.

The problem is, we’ve created all these people now on the road hustling for money. So now we’ve got some of the worst drivers on the road consistently trying to hustle and get somewhere fast. Which is causing dangerous traffic situations.

The more they pick up, the more people they get in their car, the more money they get paid.

So now,  instead of just taxis doing that, you’ve got tons of other people hustling city streets and the suburban streets trying to make an extra buck. Trying to get somewhere quicker so they can pick somebody else up.

And it’s causing a lot of traffic mishaps.

That’s the big issue with Uber.

I can put up with Mr. or Miss Chatty Cathy Uber Driver.

But what I can’t put up with is trying to get somewhere and almost getting killed in the process.

So slow down, Mr. and Mrs. Uber, because we all need to get somewhere, too. We don’t need you driving like a maniac. We understand that you’re hustling, but remember: there are people with kids in their cars. And there are people who would prefer to get somewhere in one piece over getting somewhere in 40 broken little pieces.
