Dear David WygantDear David comes a day early this week. I’ve had the same email from both men and women for the last 7 days, and it needs addressing.

It’s New Year’s Eve and people are getting invited to parties all over the place. Are guys looking forward to having a good time with friends, and getting ready to blast into 2014 ready for action and positive changes in their life?

Going by the emails I’ve been reading, the main concern for guys this New Year is, “How do I get lucky with a woman on New Year’s Eve? Is it a good night to approach? I’m going to feel stupid if it gets to Midnight and I’m on my own!”

David Says…

Who cares? Seriously? It’s one night of the year, and to be honest, it’s the most over-hyped night on the calendar. Yes, New Year gives you a landmark where you can say, “Right, I’m making a new start.” But in reality, every day is an opportunity to “start again” or to make positive changes in your life.

You don’t need the year to change to improve your situation. Why all the pressure to find a girl, or at least get a girl to kiss you on New Year’s Eve? What difference will it make?

You’ll wake up in the morning and you’ll still be you. If you suffered with approach anxiety the night before, you won’t suddenly be cured just because of a drunken kiss. Instead of worrying about meeting women on New Year, do you know what I’d be doing?

I’d be at home with a pen and paper, and I’d be working out what I want to achieve in 2014. I’d be thinking about everything that’s happened to me in the past 364 days, and I’d be looking for all the lessons I’d learned. I’d be looking at where I am in my life. Did I achieve my goals last year? What were my biggest challenges? Did I learn from my mistakes? What can I do better next year?

What have you been doing the whole year? What have you been doing every day to make a difference? Have you done the exercises in my programs? If you haven’t there’s no crash course which will secure you a kiss on New Year’s Eve. We have this mentality to try and fix things quickly for a big event, or something you think will make a difference to you. If you’ve been working on your social skills all year, then maybe something will happen at one of these parties you’re going to.

If you’ve not put in the work, I can’t help you in 24 hours. When you go to a party you should have been forcing yourself to speak to at least 3 people you didn’t know. If you haven’t been doing that then start now. Start practising so next December 31st you won’t be freaking out about meeting a woman. It’s New Year’s Eve man, it’s not High School Prom. Take the pressure of yourself. It’s amateur’s night. That’s all it is!
