So, last week I posted a blog and a video called, “Trick To Overcoming Nerves With Girls – Part 1”

If you haven’t watched it yet, go and check it out otherwise this video isn’t going to make much sense to you. Just to refresh the rest of you, I was out with some boot camp guys, talking about overcoming social anxiety and fear of approaching women, using a simple but powerful exercise. The exercise involves walking down the street (or any other public place) and singing the kids song, “The Wheels On The Bus Go Round And Round.”

Why does it work?

Because it takes you so far out your comfort zone, that approaching a woman seems like childs play after! But seriously, there’s more to it than that. As you’ll see in this next video, people don’t react to you in the way you think they will. Sure you’ll get some strange looks, but on the whole, people will smile, laugh along with you, dance, ask what you’re doing, and some even join in the singing.

People aren’t as uptight or unwilling to connect as you all think. People want to talk, they want to have fun, and they want to experience life. The other thing you’ll see in this video is me busting some of the myths shy guys have about women. I’d almost guarantee that any guy I coach who is nervous around women has these two wrong ideas about women…

1. Women all have rock solid confidence – No they don’t! In fact, some women are completely socially backward. Think about it. I get hundreds of emails every day, all from people who need help with their confidence, or don’t know how to interact with the opposite sex. Half of those people are WOMEN. Why do some of you guys put women on such a pedestal? Why do you believe all women have this rock solid confidence where they feel in control, and they’re somehow going to dominate you?

Women get as nervous around men as you do around women, and they’re just as keen to impress you as you are to impress them. Whatever you’re feeling, they’re probably feeling even worse.

2. Women are master communicators – Once again, no they’re not! I see women all the time chatting to men, and you can see how uncomfortable they are. Their body language is off, they’re playing with their hair, they can’t make eye contact, they don’t know what to say half the time, and sometimes you can even see them shuffling from side to side to stop their knees shaking.

If women were such amazing communicators and so self-assured around men, I wouldn’t have any women customers. The fact is, you have to change your mindset if you’re ever going to get over your nerves around women. There’s no other way. So let’s see how my boot camp guys got on shall we?

Remember, at the point the video starts, they’ve just come back from blasting out “The Wheels On The Bus Go Round And Round” for ages in public. Look at their faces. Look at the smiles. You can almost hear how surprised they are it went so well. Most the time in life, the thought of doing something is far worse than the reality of doing it.
