social-media-dating-advice-david-wygantHey, do you Facebook?

Hey, do you tweet?

Hey, do you Instagram?

Do you talk to human beings anymore?

Or are you constantly always searching for the next technological breakthrough that will allow you to communicate with people without ever having to talk to them?

I love when I hear people say, “God I love Twitter.”

Why?

Why do you love all of these things that just occupy your time?

All Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter do is suck time out of your life. I know people who are on Facebook for hours a day. They sit there on the Facebook looking at pictures of friends who they never even talk to anymore, posting status updates about who they saw when they bought toilet paper at Costco.

I know people that tweet things. As a matter of fact, there’s somebody on my Twitter thread that basically re-quotes famous quotes all day long. She must post close to 50 posts a day from other people.

I don’t understand the infatuations with all of this stuff.

I tweet for business, use Facebook as business and that’s it.

I don’t understand these people who are constantly checking their phones, constantly checking their Instagram.

Life is too short, I don’t need to be attached to my anti-social device 24/7 reading 120 characters or less from somebody who I don’t even care much about.

I don’t understand the infatuation we have with non-connecting with other human beings.

So next time you reach for Instagram, the next time you try to tweet, the next time you post on Facebook, why not think about what your life would be like if you can connect with another human being.

How would it feel to be able to really connect?

I like to connect eye-to-eye, face-to-face—I like to physically be in someone’s presence. I don’t really care about quick little words that they put on some Web site for everybody else to read.

When I’m lying in bed at night, cuddling up with my woman, I don’t think about posting that as a status update—I just enjoy it.

So if you’re a social media addict, why don’t you tweet me and tell what cuddling up with your Facebook and spooning your Instagram feels like.

I promise I won’t read it.
