I’m in New York City, my old hometown. Doing a men’s workshop. I had the opportunity to reconnect with an old friend. We missed each other on several occasions when I’ve been here before. But, today we were able to find an hour.

It was an exhilarating hour.

It made me realize how much time had passed, and to never let that much time pass again. Whenever you reconnect with someone, as an old friend, you never know what you’re going to get. You never know if you’re going to vibrate on the same frequency.

You never know if you’re still going to connect as friends. However the friendship was back then, you don’t know if it will be the same now. Or, you may have the opportunity to spark a friendship that really needs to be sparked again.

There are many different things that can happen from that, but it’s worth it. You can open up a new door to new possibilities and new connections; somebody who is walking the same life path as you. Somebody who wants to have that friendship again, because you understand one another on a deeper level. That’s something amazing about the journey of life.

Today, I want you to really dive deep into where you’re at on your journey. I want you to look at some of your old friends who you haven’t seen in a long time, and I want you to reach out and reconnect.

The reason being, is you never know what’s out there for you. An old friend is a friend for a reason. They know you in certain ways, and they’re probably going to be happy to see you. Whether it’s just for 45 minutes and never see each other again, or it re-ignites a friendship that’s even deeper and greater than ever before.

In our journey of life, we’ve all aged.

We’ve aged through our life experiences. And with age comes knowledge — knowledge that needs to be shared between the two of you.

It’s an amazing thing to be able to go and do that. It’s something that I recommend to all of you. As we search through the world for answers, a lot of the time the answers come from people who we once knew.

People we were once close with.friends

My friend that I saw today in New York City was someone who inspired me many years ago. Back when I was in my late 20s, I owned a bar near the city, called “Barracks.”

I was frustrated. I was annoyed.

My partner and I weren’t getting along. The place wasn’t making the money it should have made, and I turned to my friend Josh and asked him for advice. He gave me the advice that I needed that set me off on my entrepreneurial path.

He told me I needed to buy out my partner. He gave me a number that I needed to present to my partner. He structured the conversation with me.

He gave me the confidence to be able to be able to go and do it on my own. At that time I was a confused and lost entrepreneur.

I wasn’t quite sure where I was going. I used to be an actor, but I went from actor/bartender to suddenly owning a business, and it didn’t seem like I was cut out for it. But, he actually saw that I was.

His wisdom, his advice, led me on my path of entrepreneurship. Because of the way I structured that deal, I was able to take control and be my own boss, and from there, I was able to turn into the successful person that I am.

I didn’t thank him today when I saw him, because we had too many other things to talk about.

But, I’ll never forget that. I’ll never forget that moment.

I am just happy to have reconnected with somebody in the present, because the present is where all of our opportunities are. The past, we can thank somebody. The present is where we can appreciate them.

So today, I want you to reach out. I want you to reach out to some old friends of yours. I want to go and see what is there. You never know. It could be your next great business contact. It could be your best friend for the rest of your life, or it could be somebody you just connect back up with and have a nice morning or afternoon with. Reach out and touch somebody, like in the good old days of AT&T.
