“Multitasking.” We hear that term over and over again.

Especially in today’s modern world, where information is coming at you 1,000 miles an hour.

We sit down in front of our laptops hunched over like a bunch of people who are going to literally look like apes one day.

And we try to make the most of our days by multitasking our way through it.

We’ve got seven browsers open. We’ve got Facebook chat open. We’ve got office chat open, we’ve got texts coming in on our phone. We’ve got e-mails going ding, ding, ding.

We’ve got so much stimulation coming at us 24/7 that we almost don’t know what to do. So we actually accomplish less because we don’t know how to prioritize.

When we’re driving home, we want to listen to a book on tape.

We get home, the kids are pulling at our feet.

There’s so much to do that we always run out of time every single day. It feels like we never have enough time for anything, but I am going to squash all of that right now.

You see, I’m a master at time management.

When I wake up in the morning, I do my mantras.

I then go into creative zone mode and get stuff done.

Which might mean e-mails or writing a blog idea.

I then go and work out. While I’m working out, I take that hour to myself. I give myself permission to have an hour of my own time in the morning. I do that because it recharges me for the whole day.

Some days, depending on how I feel, I go the infrared sauna and I sit in there for an hour. I bring my iPhone in there.

And which, by the way is not a good thing for the iPhone, but fuck the iPhone. I don’t care about it’s feelings.

I blog in there. You saw the blogs that I write in there.

I go in there and what do I do the whole time? Well, I detox and I take care of my health. I take care of my wellness, and I also blog at the same exact time by using the dictation service called Copytalk. I dictate because my brain works really fast and I prefer to talk something out rather than write something out. If you need a great dictation service for cheap, give Copytalk a call and tell them David Wygand sent you.

When I’m done with that, I make my lunch at home. While I’m making lunch, I allow myself to have a little bit of RNR in the middle of the day. I’ll read football articles.

I’ll read other articles. I’ll read a little bit, which to me is fun and enjoyable and something I give myself permission to do.

After lunch, I do the same exact thing. I go back to work, I do the work that I need to do for the afternoon and then I either go out with somebody that night, stay home, or maybe go get a foot massage. If I get a foot massage, I tend to read during the foot massage. Why? Because it’s enjoyable and I can multi-task. So I can get my relaxations in. I can get the things in that are good for my health, but yet at the same time, take care of some other things that I need to do.

That’s how I multi-task. That’s how I make time management work for me. And you ask, what about when I’m in the car?

Because I live in Los Angeles, one of the most traffic congested areas of the world.

While on a Wednesday afternoon, I had to go down to Orange County to go see somebody.

I made this decision to leave at four because things change in my schedule.

I knew I was prepared for an hour to an hour and a half drive down there. It’s usually only about 45 minutes with no traffic.

Did I get annoyed? Did I get pissed off? Did I get angry that my butt was getting numbed sitting in my car for that long? No.

I multi-task.

I made the phone calls that I needed to make all day, so I was able to do that to connect with the people that I needed to connect with.

Then what did I do the majority of time driving down there?

I called my best friend Copytalk.

And I wrote a lot of the blogs that you read. As I was driving, ideas came to my head, because that’s how I trained myself. Instead of listening to great music and bopping all around and getting annoyed at the traffic.

I decided to be productive during the time. So I work a lot, out and about, because it’s saving modern society.

We have the opportunity to work out and about. We have everything that we need on our phone. We don’t really need to have the computer around.

We can really multi-task and get things done. So then we can become present when we are with somebody we want to be with.

That’s how I look at things, and that’s how I multi-task and that’s how time management works for me.
