time-managementI think time management is a complete mystery to some people in today’s modern.

Some people put themselves up on dating sites, yet they don’t have the time to date.

Some people go out there and interview for jobs, yet they don’t have the time for another job.

Some people are so hurried at all times, they’re scheduling themselves 24/7.

It seems like most people have time management issues. But I’ve got the secret sauce that’s going to give you the best time management skills you’ve ever had in your entire life.

Do you want to know what the simple answer is? Don’t over-commit to things you can’t do. It really is that simple. Let’s say, for instance, you’re a freelancer. And you want to build your business. You want to make money. So, you start saying yes to so many different jobs, and soon what you’re doing is is giving half an effort to all these different jobs. So, in turn, you’re never really building your business. You’re chasing money 24/7 because nobody’s feeling like they’re getting the most value out of you.

So, in order to manage your time, you need to understand what your limitations are. Don’t say yes to things that take up so much of your time that you just can’t do anything else. Don’t say yes to jobs that will not pay you for what you’re worth.

And don’t over-commit to things, i.e., know your limitations. Know what you can and can’t do. And if you have to say no, say no and trust the universe that another opportunity’s going to come for you.

Most people lack time management. They have very bad time management skills. But these are really simple tips. Ask yourself, “Do I have the time to show up 100% for somebody?”, whether it’s a job, whether it is a date, whether it’s dinner with a friend, whatever it might be.

Before you commit, before you say yes, ask yourself, do you have the time to commit to that person and give that person 100% of you? People are going to give you 100% of them, so you owe it to them to give them 100% of you. That’s how it works. That’s how this whole time management thing works, and that’s how everything works really well.

So ask yourself this question: Do you have the time to show up for somebody else or no? And if not, look at them and say honestly, I don’t have the bandwidth right now. I don’t have the time right now to deal with it.

The thing is, most people in life want to do the right thing, so they tend to overextend themselves. And I’ve done that. I’ve hired people, freelancers for my business that tell me they’ve got the time to do things and they’re fully committed, but in reality, they don’t have the time at all. And I know that through the work that they’re doing. I can see it on a day-to-day basis, that they’re not getting the things done that they should be getting done.

But these time management skills are simple. It all comes down to whether or not you’re being honest with yourself and those in your life.
