This is so timely, David! I have been having a sort I of hook up relationship with a guy I want more from. I already turned down his latest booty call. I am waiting to see now if he ever class me again. I am basically not going to respond to anything less than a date.

I was in a year and a half booty call relationship, I always wanted it to and thought it would turn into more...it never did after a year and a half so I stopped seeing him and being his sideline pleasure a few months ago. I learned a huge lesson, don't ever be a man's booty call, set that straight right from the beginning, it puts a huge dent in your self worth and your self respect. Even if you ask a guy what he wants ...even if he takes you out... You still can be just a nooty call cuz some guys tell a woman what she wants to hear... They tell her they are seeking long term, etc... I went out with a guy for six weeks ... We went to movies to dinner but he never let me STAY at his place ... We always had to get a hotel over nite.... He schmoozed me each time I asked why... Until on sweetest day I agreed to one more time at a hotel cuz I figured we spent the entire day together and if he had another woman why would he spend sweetest day overnight with me? Until after we had sex he left me at the hotel!! At 8 pm he claimed his uncle died and he had to suddenly leave to go comfort his aunt!!! So guys will lie straight to your face AND take you out all while knowing they only see you as a hookup. They are called SOCIOPATHS!!

You are so right, everything you said. Even if you take time to date a guy he could still only want you for sex but lead you on thinking he might see more in you. The best I learned to do was just follow my gut and if things don't feel right then I just jump ship so to speak. Going to a hotel should be a red flag though, but hind sight is twenty twenty. When a guy you like is sweet talking you it can be hard to think straight but not impossible. We just have to love ourselves more than we hate being alone, because being alone temporarly is better than being used like we don't matter.

Pam, I am not a slut. I don't fall into the judeo-Christian double standard bullshit. I am a fully functioning adult female with sexual needs that are nothing to be ashamed of. I admit I didn't interact with this guy in ways that would lead to the assumption of an ongoing relationship. I'm still newly divorced and rediscovering my sexuality after a marriage in which I had begun to believe I was frigid. Sex without expectations can be a great way to do this. I realized that aside from having sex too early that I've made a slew of other bad decisions in my interactions withh. He's also newly divorced after 20 years so I doubt I was going to be relationship material anyway. Slut is such a nasty word in that it usually refers to women having more than the societally approved appetites for sex . Really quite repressive. But if in fact I am to be called the slut, I prefer the term slit cake. So you can just lick my icing , Pam!

Thank you so much for your response to her making judgments about somebody she doesn't know anything about. I'm still curious as to who has the right to set standards for how many people I women can be with before becoming an official slut lol. I look at things a lot like you do I've always been a very open minded bisexual woman but when I got married my now ex husband good I'd number on my self esteem and sexuality .. took me a long time to gain back my self esteem and to finally feel comfortable with my sexuality again. But since you made it about you...I don't like women like you because you ruin it for the women like my friends and I who would like a serious relationship. Giving your arse right away to a man means that he can expect to get it from other women as well. The sexual revolution was a great thing up to an extent, but now we've fallen off the edge of the cliff a long time ago. By the way, I'm std free also because I and my partners have always communicated about these things like adults. I have been very judgmental in the past toward other women. hello from mexico!!! david i read all your emails and i love it! i made this mistake with a guy and yes, i thought that was the way i can have him and like you said: THATS COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE! In another case (right now) i stoped a guy who tried to do the same and he came back lots of times but i think he doesnt understand my rules (he is 43 and im 36, just imagine this inmature guy). In my experience i will like to share with all you girls that is better to say NO and keep your dignity and integrity with you instead of saying YES to things that you dont feel confortable and let them take your dignity. Remember.........guys always come back but it depends on us, on our attitude and respect from ourselves!

I have a very different viewpoint in that I have an autoimmune disease that could render my sex organ (aka vagina) useless in not that many years. So I've come o this realization that wow I really want to enjoy my sexuality while I still can and I don't want to wait for a relationship to do that. If one comes along or using David's techniques great, but if I really want to do it I'm going to. My mother's is dying and it has come full circle to me that I possibly don''t have that many years left. I want to fully live and part of that is expressing sexuality. So come what may, relationship or not, I'm going to do that.

I find women calling or thinking about other women as “sluts” especially disturbing. Sexual attraction and sexual behavior are totally natural. There is a reason sex is pleasurable for both men and women. In my mind, if there is anything perverse, it’s the idea that a woman’s sexuality is only judged or valuable as some sort of unsavory barter agreement offered by a woman for a man’s attention and commitment. By the way, there’s also a name for a direct exchange of a woman’s sex for resources, whether it happens on the street or is codified in marriage based on a transactional agreement...

Couldn't agree more with you Mitch about celebrating sexuality. There may be one thing you haven't noted though, which is that women are highly emotional about sex. It's the way our brains are structured, not the same at all as the male brain and sexual centres. It is the female nature to prefer sex with some emotional connection. Choosing to wait for sex with a man until we know if WE want a relationship, as well as if he does, is emotional protection for us. It's not (always) about resources. I have never depended on a man's resources, but I still don't want to be a booty call or to feel used. A man can use his resources for a prostitute if he wants to use women. Plenty of women are up for casual sex at different times, so why do so many men lie about relationships to get sex? so as you can see, it's a many faceted thing.
