So I went to get a haircut today, and my usual guy wasn’t in.

He’s on a ‘leave of absence’.

(That’s probably the shop’s way of saying that he no longer works there, without discouraging you from returning and spending money.)

Anyhow, I asked the girl on the phone for a recommendation and she gave me one, which was great. I trust the person at the other end of the phone to give me somebody that won’t destroy my hair.

So I went in to the salon and saw my new barber.

Nice.

She was cute. She looked sweet. She looked…hot. (And I’ll substitute the gay guy for the cute girl any day.)

So we talked for a long time because I was getting a cut and color. (That’s right. David Wygant colors his gray hairs.)

She picked out the color. We started talking and I told her a little bit about what I do. We just talked throughout the whole two and a half-hour haircut and color experience.

We bonded. It was cute. So I told her that she was really sweet and nice.

She looked at me and said that she thought I was cool too, but that she doesn’t date her clients.

Okay, I can understand that because most of her clients are probably just guys that ask her out the first time they get their hair cut, and don’t really understand about building attraction and emotional connections. I figured this out because she kept telling me over and over again that she likes to take her time and get to know people.

‘I want to get to know men as friends,’ she said.

So it’s like these guys probably don’t even listen to that, they just go right in for the kill. (Which most guys do when they don’t have a social clue.)

But I listened to her. And when she was done speaking, I looked at her and said, “Here’s the deal: all the rules you’ve ever had in your life so far, when it comes down to meeting men, do the exact opposite. Break them.”

Because that’s what you need to do. All these so-called rules that you have right now, these so called rules that you won’t date a client, you won’t date a customer, you won’t date a guy from the gym…break them.

If you don’t break them, you’re going to constantly be living within these rules that aren’t working to begin with anyway.

It was a fun haircut. I haven’t had a cute, sexy, hair artist in a long, long, long time. I enjoyed this conversation. She was cool, she was sweet, she was sexy, and she was nice. She’d make a great girlfriend for somebody.

But she’s just got to go out there and break her own rules. So think about the rules you have that keep you from meeting men.

Now start breaking them one by one.

You’ll be amazed at what’s different in your life.
