High school. I remember growing up in Scarsdale High School. I was such a deep romantic as a kid.

Being in love for the very, very first time felt like nothing I ever felt before. It was like a combination of having the flu every single day and losing all sense of any type of reality at all.

I remember telling my friends that I never want to hang out with them again because I’d rather hang out with my girlfriend.

It was like I was smoking drugs; a drug that was called Kris, a drug that was called Pam. Having a girlfriend for the very first time was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

And They Call it Puppy Love

I remember sitting on the phone at night and just reading to one another.

We would always judge if a night was good if we spent more than two-plus hours on the phone, talking about nothing, watching TV together.

I remember many nights watching “All in the Family” with my girlfriend on the other end of the phone.

Watching “The Love Boat” together on a Saturday night.

It was so much fun. We did so many things together; we became inseparable. As a matter of fact, we would count down the hours until we saw each other again.

We would literally run to one another between classes just to hug, make out, hump one another against the lockers. The high school relationship was so much fun. I wonder if today’s high school kids even experience that, with texting and other things. Instead of talking on the phone, they’re just texting all night long. Things have changed so much.
