i don't really post on these kinds of things, but i happen to like drinking. there was a point where i used to get plastered a lot, but i eventually decided to limit myself to a beer or two (or four), lest i make a fool of myself again.

so yeah, i know all about those loud, boisterous drunks. and i can see where you're coming from.

but i hear friends asking me to drinking sessions, and expressing their disappointment when i beg off early. i figure it isn't because they're fake friends who'd rather see me make a fool of myself (because i'd have gone off them like a bad habit if that were the case), but because sometimes, it's a good way of unwinding.

i guess it really is different for most folks, so the rule of thumb should be: keep to your limit, unless you're around people who can stomach you when you're past your limit.

I agree compeletely with John. From my own expreience, men & women both do stuff at clubs & bars after having booze that makes them look like a total idiot. Their personality changes from being pretty easy going, and sometimes very reserved otherwise to being a loud, obnoxious, belligerant idiot. That's one thing that turned me off of bars & clubs. You really wouldn't want to be friends with some of them anyway, or at least you think you don't because you see how they're acting.

If some girl is acting like a ditzy and shallow and too loose for her own good Paris Hilton or Lindsey Lohan wannabe, I know she's not someone I'd want to stick around with. More trouble then she's worth. If you're a guy and you're acting the fool, a lot of women will have the same kind of bad impression of you.

Bob

If you think about it david isn't saying not to drink, what he is saying is that people should learn to control their drinking habits and how they act when drinking. Its mainly for people who drink to the point of blacking out or just plain acting stupid.

There are some ups of drinking a "few" drinks, agreed. Its nice to have a drink to relax, but when you drink a lot of it to try and trash yourself, or wash the pain away people tend to become belligerant and act like fools.

And when I say this im not trying to be rude or anything but. . . if someone has to get drunk or "tipsy" to get laid, thats not really a good thing. Ya its nice for the moment but when you wake up in the morning to someone sleeping on your arm and your only decision is to either wake her up, or chew your arm off. There has to be a better way. Thats just my opinion though.

Hey David,

I would have to agree with you, again, on your comments about boozing. You mentioned this briefly, but I think the main attraction to boozing is the sense of relaxation, false confidence, and generally people feel more loose. But, as you mentioned, this isn't always a good thing.

You, along with guys like "natural tim" and "jeffy" have all come full circle with this and no longer indulge in alcohol.

But, it sure can lead to an interesting time. I try to look at both sides of the issue as well.

Good call out David. You have to admit though, other than the one sentence about "your friend", 98% of your blog was, shall we say "anti drinking". On a lighter note though...If it weren't for those bousterous, very friendly, women who drink more than they should, I sure would not have had as much, shall we say, "sexual experience", as I currently have. And, I certainly would not have had as much fun, dated as many women, had as many exciting times, back seat "rememberances", and a variety of other memorable experiences, had they been teatotalers. Maybe it ain't all that bad...if you're single, and just looking for a casual encounter, once in a while.

Bob

I love when my words are twisted.

Never condemned drinking just people who turn into loud assholes during the process.

I love when people twist my words and react to what they think i said.

What do we teach here.

How to listen to everything someone says and react to the whole story that is being told.

Read this part again.

So how do you get when you drink? I know some people who have a drink, and you’d never know it. My best friend can have ten drinks and talk to everyone in the room, and no one would suspect he’s had a lot to drink.

You know what annoys me the most is when people take things out of context and they start preaching based on what they think this about even though i never said any of that,.

Bob your posts are great but i am calling you out today!

Religous fanatic did crack me up though:)

We all know people who cannot handle their liquour, and of course agree that is a problem. But, to condemn drinking, is foolhardy, and takes away a lot of enjoyment in life. There is nothing wrong with having a drink while socializing, and enjoying the company and a good spirit, with friends. I say, have a drink or two, enjoy life, experience the variety, of a premium Liquour, or fine vintage of wine, within moderation. The key to a great life is MODERATION in all aspects. Try everything and enjoy a few vices, I say, to spice up your life! Don't judge others lifestyles like a confirmed Vegan, or Religious fanatic, according to your beliefs and lifestyle.
