You know, there’s a rumor going around . . . one I think has been passed down from generation to generation. The rumor is that white men can’t dance. They have no rhythm, no beat and no rhyme.
It’s funny, though, because last night I and about 30,000 other white men stood in a room and danced . . . at the Los Angeles Sports Arena watching Bruce Springsteen play. Yes, I admit that I was among the dancers in the crowd (and no there is no video of that posted on YouTube).
Here we were — 30,000 white guys dancing in the stands as living evidence to confirm the rumor that white men cannot dance — being led by another crazy little white guy named The Boss who can actually dance up a storm.
It’s amazing when you go and watch people who are full of passion and energy. I’ve written blogs about seeing Coldplay and Neil Diamond in Concert, both of which I loved. I’ll tell you something, though.
Nothing is more fun than seeing Bruce Springsteen play, hang out with his band and watching Silvio Dante from The Sopranos jam out with him. Actually, now when I see Bruce singing with Stevie all I can picture is Silvio eating with Tony at The Bada Bing!
Seeing Bruce Springsteen last night just confirmed for me that the man is a legend. The man lives a life that’s full of passion. Who cares if he’s named in some divorce thing and had a fling with somebody in New Jersey? I don’t follow any of that stuff.
I know some of you guys have been reading up on that stuff, and it’s seems kind of ridiculous. Supposedly some guy’s wife was screwing Bruce and he named Bruce in the divorce settlement or the divorce thing trying to get a little publicity or something.
Who knows? Let me tell you something important. Bruce Springsteen is all about passion. He leads a passionate life.
We talk about passion over and over again here in the blog. So I have some questions for you.
What is your passion? Really, about what are YOU passionate? I know what I’m passionate about in my life.
I’m passionate about my work. I’m passionate about my girl. I’m passionate about my friends. I’m passionate about my family. I’m passionate about my dog. I’m passionate about all the great people in my life, the things I do, the people with whom I hang, and about the work that I do. I am passionate right now about just walking the dog and writing this blog.
So what are you passionate about? What really makes you feel great? What are you really all about, and what would you tell us all about you?
Just one little “P.S.” to this blog …
I’ve just gotten an account with, and just started playing around with, Twitter. So if any of you have a Twitter account, ask me to be your friend (so I can figure this thing out!)

I’m passionate about my friends, i’m passionate about dancing, i’m passionate about guitar and piano and i’m passionate about computers and i’m passionate about meeting people and
I’m passionate about wanting a vacation!!
You want to know who DOES have passion?

Don’t judge a book by its cover!
I’m Passionate about figuring out the best way my kids on themselves can experience the constant inner joy I have.
That state of being in is just shy of amazing and when you are there it doesn’t matter what you do, because you will be in a naturally state of being passionate of everything.
I was once very passionate about music. However, I later realized that passion was preventing me from viewing the world from different perspectives. There were simply to many underlying beliefs, attitudes, and assumptions that I think go along with labeling oneself as being interested in any particular thing. Nowadays I try to be passionate about whatever it is I’m doing at any given moment instead… if that makes sense.
Tony
Wow what a voice holy shit!!!!!
Its amazing that no one ever found out about her.
I’m passionate about the curves of women, writing a great phrase that makes me laugh, doing a cool dolly move in a movie I’m shooting, the first bite of a great pasta dish, stepping into the town square of a town I’ve never been to before and looking around, mogul skis, model train cities, and doing cool stuff with my friends. I’m also passionate about the Red Sox and Patriots (though others have me beat in this category because they’re scary passionate).
Since watching the Boss perform at the Super Bowl, I’m amazed — that guy’s still got it.
Tony,
Loved her, heard her earlier.
Can’t wait for the day where we only are judged from our inside, she was astounding, very sad to see everyones reaction before she began to sing…such judgement. Atleast the judges had the guts to admit they were all wrong, well most of them (-:
Noah
CHeck out the video link above that tony posted.
You want to talk about passion wow!!!
Marina
We really need to stop judging what we see and open our hearts to what we feel.
That video is really amazing.
Taras
So what are you passionate about today?
David
And…..you left us hanging at the end with an and
This is a great interview/story from a morning show.

David — Your Brittain’s Got Talent video above is indeed one of the very BEST examples of a human embodiment of true passion ever!
What a fantastic video …
Here’s the whole thing, including some really great comments from the judge’s on that very issue!:

I’m already following you on Twitter, David. However, I will send you the request to add me.
I actually have to disagree with you on the “White Men Can’t Dance” rumor. Here is one white man who can dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg
If you have a passion, you need not worry about chasing women- or men for that matter.
The cards will fall into place because your life serves a greater purpose.
‘do what you love and the world will reward you’
I am passionate about the things in life what is going on around me at the time…Being passionate is a form of caring…This is all that I have to contribute to the blog…Someone check and see if I am sick the answer is yes I have a stupid head cold that wont go away…
Sandra,
Get better soon…need you in full strength here (-:
What am I passionate about? Hearing musical talent like Susan Boyle – who could thaw a smile even from Simon Cowell…the guy has one of the greatest jobs ever. Seeing a movie that will yank you in with the perfect opening visual. Hearing really good poetry – not reading it..sort of takes you back to a time when socializing in polite society consisted of a circle of friends and acquaintances performing for each other and sharing something of themselves in the process. Creating a new garment from scratch from choosing the style, the fabric, and tweaking the construction to make it unique and personal. Having my local ball club beat the visitors on opening day or my alma mater whip their cross-state rivals. Having friends and family both personal and professional that I can depend on and who can always depend on me for honesty, laughter, support, entertainment, or even just a shoulder. Engaging with people who have something on their minds that they want to share (with or without feedback) and they choose to share it with me.
Thanks Marina
Speaking of people who can not dance…I am willing to teach guys that can not dance is like I said to my son in law get out there and make a fool of yourself like the rest of us…
I am passionate about all forms of art. About life. With tennis. I know that I will be passionate when I have the chance to lead and guide young kids. Having a little sister, I want to give her all the resources possible, all the networking. I want to share that with other kids too, especially ones that really need it. Ones that just need a little push and encouragement. I am passionate about passing on my knowledge, about learning, about sharing. I have a passion for/working towards the best version of myself.
And you know what is great? When mentors/advisors/professors and adults are really interested in the works and projects that you are doing when you share it with them. It just moves the passion even more.
About the stereotype, its not all true. Some can dance, some can’t. A lot of white men do formal dancing and are great at it. I live in a place where the majority are the minority so I can’t really judge…
Oh, and I’m passionate about justice. I’m also passionate about getting stories and expressing/retelling them in its purest form. I’m passionate about cultures and I want to travel the world after finding my roots. I just love so much and do so much, sometimes it overwhelms me and then I don’t accomplish them because I dont set out to work on my different art forms. But I’ve made my first film on social change/justice. Its on youtube if anyone wants to see.
Kismet,
Love to watch your film. Could you put the link up please, anything for a fellow tennis girl (-;
Here is a white man who can dance… and sing… Does he look foolish? Perhaps! Does he care? No!

I have been working in a big company for about 20 years now. That killed a lot of my passion for anything. Or let’s say, I allowed it to bury my passion under piles of paperwork and bureaucracy. I am trying to get it back, little by little. Now, I simply try to be passionate about the moment.
And David, thanks for sharing so many of your moments wiith us.

Its not a real film…just a video?!
I’m passionate about my son and writing. My twitter is divaoflove
Well im passionate about a lot of things. Swimming is maybe the thing im most passionate about. i love it. Next is my friends and teammates. Girls, and then burgers, i seriously could live off just burgers but im a nutrition major and that would be ironic.
So even if you white men can’t dance…if you dance with passion, the women will swoon…:)
Seriously though, I think this is what makes people so attractive…when they know who they are and have passion for what they do.
Marina and Queen of Relationships—I so relate to your children being the passion. What is so great about kids, is that they are naturally full of passion without trying. I love watching my kids get excited over the littlest things!
Holy shit!! is right! I saw that susan boyle sing and it brought tears to my eyes.
You can tell simon cowell was blown away. It would be nice if the news media would televise more positive stories like that.
I’m passionate about people…
And wow… I’m amazed at that Susan Boyle lady!
Valentino,
Have you seen the movie, “Supersize Me” ? lol
Yeah i have. That would be me for sure and i would be a lot slower as a swimmer
