Two Thumbs Up

What movies have you guys seen this year that have really resonated with you?

I just saw The Wrestler the other day, which features Mickey Rourke – and by the way, this Mickey Rourke does not look anything like the Mickey Rourke I used to know. I have no idea what happened to his face!

Granted, I live in Los Angeles, and I’ve seen some scary plastic surgery – look at Joan Rivers! She looks like an alien right now! She’s a freak.

Or look at Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones looks downright scary. Terrell Owens should be happy that Jerry Jones cut him, because who wants to look at that alien face?

But this isn’t a blog about plastic surgery gone bad. It’s all about the movies.

What movies have you seen and what characters have you really related to this year?

Did you see any romantic comedies that we shouldn’t miss?

Everyday, this blog is supposed to be about tips and advice from me – but what I really want is to fill up my Netflix queue with things that you guys suggest! I want to know what movies you really related to and why. What characters did you really feel for?

That Mickey Rourke role in The Wrestler was one of the most amazing characters I’ve ever seen. It was just so sad.

And I’ve seen people like that – people who are living in the past who can never get over the glory of what happened before. Their present is so miserable; they just continue to live for the past.

I know a lot of ex-athletes that I’ve worked with and coached that are still like that – they’re in their fifties now, but they just wish they were back in their twenties and living in the glory days. They talk about the way life used to be, thirty years ago, when they were icons.

That’s why I liked that movie so much – it reminded me of a lot of clients who remember how good their life used to be but can’t seem to figure out how to turn their life around now. One of the best movies to really inspire and get your ass off the couch is Defending Your Life.

Anyone who wants to make a change in their lives needs to watch it!!

So share with me some of the movies that you’ve recently seen!

And here is a great scene from Defending Your Life.

  1. I liked Woody Allen’s recent Vicky Cristina Barcelona where one guy without really trying seduces two women at the same time because he’s really genuine with fully expressing his wants and desires unashamedly, and also has a way of connecting with the two women where eventually both fall for him.

Towelhead is a bit eccentric about a 13 year old Lebanese girl who is actually 20 in real life experiencing her first tastes of sexuality.. but worth watching because you see things from a female point of view maturing into her own.

  2. Loved that movie Jim……really eye opening.

  3. The movies I like would be the ones like gone with the wind or scarlett. sometimes i can picture myself as the mannequin or just play the part of Sally that drives the horse and buggy with the two nervous nellies in the back for I can be Sally with a capital S for Sandra

  4. sandra

you like to escape into a fantasy when you watch a movie?

  5. I Love You Man, in addition to being a clever twist on the traditional romantic comedy, has a great example of a character who lives in the moment – Jason Segal – who shows Paul Rudd how to have a good time.

Loved Pineapple Express, The Wrestler, Vicki Christina Barcelona, The Wackness, Baghead, Dark Knight, Benjamin Button, and a new flick called Sugar (opens in a week). I heard Duplicity is great. Also really looking forward to Observe and Report, 500 Days of Summer and Funny People.

Did anyone see Twilight? I heard it was a good thing for a guy to check out because girls everywhere seem to swoon over Edward the vampire.

  6. What an appropriate pick, two thumbs up for you David you picked a great one. ;-)

This year has been an eventful year in the movie department. The previous one before the one that lead me to this site is only for private showings.

As a wise person once said. The Vampire can only enter your life when you invite him. A vampire movie would be my pick for what somehow lead me to this site. A my most fragile ever I was sapped from the last energy I had left. I don’t blame but myself but it was a hard lesson to go through.

My second pick would be La Femme Nikita (french version), some of the things that happen to her was selfinflicted but the ones who thougth they they knew where she was at was very wrong. She emerged strong and moved on.

Funny though, trough those two movies Life of Brian everytime came to reinforce the core of who I am, when they sing at the cross “always look at the bright side of life”.

The weather for nice change it picking up down here, just in time for Kung Fu Panda with the most important people in my life my kids.

I have great classics in my library that have been with me on or off for over 35 years, the funny things you don’t always know if it’s going to be a classic right away, sometimes you put them away for a while re watch them with new eyes and are positivily surprised that you still find them worth watching.

As I progress I can’t wait to the point where I again can love to watch my own movie again. I am almost back there, It’s a process I eventually will get to and the ones that were there to just lend a nice thought or a smile will forever be a part of it.

Besides I can always get a great laugh on my own just watching Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Get the popcorn out I think this will be a fun blog to watch.

  7. My fav is The Shawshank Redemption. I love what Andy writes to Red, “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.”

  8. Sadly I haven’t seen any of the more recent films that have been coming out. I don’t have any recommendations, but just wanted to say that I’m now completely inspired to watch “The Wrestler.”

  9. Noah

    What is twilight?

  10. Taras

We need to get you signed up on Netflix you spend too much time chasing women:)

  11. Raj

Shawshank is amazing….what did you learn from that movie.

  12. Marina

Curb is amazing….he is a nut!!

  13. Sorry, David. I can’t say that I watch a whole lot of movies. I spend a great portion of my free time on music and athletic pursuits such as diving, but I saw Sicko recently. :) Does anyone like the Rush Hour movies with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker? I think some of us could learn a thing or two from ole Chris minus some of the blatantly inappropriate stuff he does.

    Dave

  14. Hey David,

Twilight is the movie that just came out on DVD, it’s based on a series of best-selling Stephanie Mayer books about a girl who falls in love with a vampire. If you have any nieces or friends with daughters who are high school age or below, chances are they’ve devoured all the books in the series and/or are obsessed with them.

Shawshank is one of the greatest movies ever for inspiration. Love it.

I’m a big fan of movies that make me want to make changes in my own life. Like, a movie that makes me want to call that girl, go on that trip, etc… they’re all too rare. I can’t even remember what the last one was.

    Noah

  15. Dave
That I do…But it all depends who you are in the fantasy with. Or be like Scarlett and the belle of the Ball…Then be like her trying to keep Rhett’s child hidden.

  16. Marina
I would like to watch that movie they just came out with Twilight. I bet that is a good movie when I can get a chance I might get it and watch it.

  17. David
Twilight the movie: Is about a vampire that falls in love with this girl and fights his bloodthurst and tries to keep his buddies from taking her. I only read it on back of the DVD… I have not seen it yet but by the way it looks it maybe a good movie.

I like some of Stephen King’s movies I have watched his Rose Red that he helped create. But I don’t care much for blood and guts.

  18. Sandra

So tiwlight is llike hbos series first blood?

    Are you familiar with that?

  19. Noah

    Watch Defending Your Life!!!

    You will love it

  20. Dave

    Sicko was great.

We have issues in this country and we have no idea how to fix them!!

  21. Yes you may say that but I like a good true ghost story you know things that go bump in the night. Oh before I forget I wanz to bite urs neck. Just think how sexy that can get.

  22. Dave
It would not be my day if I did not tease you….Love from Tennessee to Callie….:)

  23. Dave
Do you remember Physcho Norman Bates Hotel….Where his mom told him who to kill….

  24. Phsycho

  25. David.

    Pretty Pretty Pretty Good…Indeed

  26. David – You’ve mentioned Defending Your Life before and I ended up watching it a few months back after your suggestion. It’s definitely a good movie and helps put some bigger picture things into perspective. Albert Brooks was so funny back then, what has he done recently?

I watch a lot of documentaries. Netflix has a ton of them on all kinds of subject matter.

I just re-watched The Big Easy over the weekend after having not seen it in many years. I really like watching the interaction between Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin in that movie. Dennis Quaid’s character had such a strong presence, led her, and ultimately drew her out of her shell. Oh… and Ellen Barkin was amazingly hot, that didn’t hurt either. :)

  27. Adam

SHe was smoking hot in that movie.

I still think Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct was by far the sexiest woman on screen.

  28. Marina

I got lost what is really good

  29. Sandra

How can i ever forget Psycho

  30. By far one of the hottest scenes ever.

The way she talks about sex draws you in…the power and intrigue.

  31. Thats a great scene from Defending Your Life!

I’m a huge movie fan, and like to watch anything from action to comedy, to cool indie films. Subtitles dont scare me :) An interesting film I saw was “Waking Life.” Its a cool, trippy movie that discusses life, free will, existentialism and brought forth an interesting question…”what prevents someone from moving forward in life and achieving their goals? Is it fear or laziness?” Hmmm….

I’ve been disappointed with the movies in theatres recently though. The previews look good, I go see the movie and it sucks. Yes Man with Jim Carrey was good. Its good to see him acting again.

  32. Waking Life was interesting……..

  33. DanTheOriginal March 23, 2009 at 5:01 pm 33

I just saw Last Chance Harvey with Dustin Hoffman and I immediately connected to lots of what DW has been saying, especially to the “I don’t give a shit” attitude and being spontaneous on dates.

Mickey Rourke + his face = steroids:-)

La Femme Nikita (french version): That was one of my favourite movies or my favorite actresses or both:-)

DW: Do not waste your time with Twilight, a stupid film about vampires that little girls are falling all over for some of the male actors….I had the bad luck to be in the theatre (for another movie of course) when it opened and was traumatized by the bubble gum/makeup/fashion overload of too many teenage girls!:-)

  34. Adam –

I can’t believe you mentioned “The Big Easy!” It is my favorite movie of all-time . . . and has one of the hottest sex scenes of all time (and they never take off their clothes!)

I LOVE the movie “Defending Your Life” … And as a lawyer, I kind of like the idea I might be able to “argue” my way into the after life ;)

  35. David –

I agree with your Mickie Rourke comment … If you want to see how crazy unreal he really looks now, go back and play a clip from 9 1/2 Weeks or something…. You’d NEVER know that’s the same guy!

  36. i know im going to take flack from david on this, but i saw he’s just not that into you and i loved it!

  37. Well there is a critic in every corner. But think as you are making love to someone and giving them a passion mark as you get it on deeper.

  38. Everyone on here seems determined to look “deep” by naming all the artsy-fartsy “I’m too cultured to ever watch an action movie” flicks.

I love a LOT of indy films — “Fargo” is one of my all-time movies…and then movies like “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” “Office Space,” “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Election” are major classics!

BUT I like to watch movies just to have FUN — So I loved seeing the new James Bond movie on DVD (I got a preview copy!) That is one good looking James bond I’ll tell ya! ;)

  39. A fun, great little indy film from about ten years ago is “The Last Supper” which starred Cameron Diaz and had a boatload of great cameos by Jason Alexander, Charles Dern, Bill whats his name from Titanic and bunch of others …. a VERY dark comedy that’s a lot of fun!

  40. If anyone needs just a good old fashioned fanastic comedy — I’d suggest renting the early 80′s comedy “Night Shift” starring Michael Keaton in his first movie role, Henry “Fonzie” Winkler and Shelly Long…

One of the funniest movies ever!

  41. 9 1/2 weeks was amazing……

  42. Sammy

The last supper was a great movoe good call!!

  43. Abby

The scene in Fargo when they chopped the body up was an all time classic cohen brothers!!

  44. Kristen

    Night shift

    Love Brokers!!!!!

  45. Dan

Ok i will take that vampire movie off my netflix list!!

  46. Another hot sexy classic scene.

Check out what Mickey Rourke used to look like.

  47. Kristen

    This is for you.

  48. Swingers is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Not an academy award winner, but definitely a must see for every guy on the planet. “You’re so money!”

    Mario

  49. Love it David!!!

This is Chuck telling Bill to SHUT UP! :)

  50. yes, ya betcha’ david that is a great scene in fargo ;) but i love the scene where they find the bodies by the highway and in the squad car frances mcdormand tells the joke–

did you hear the one about the guy who couldn’t afford personalized plates so he changed his name to j3l23404?

    ya, that’s a good one…

  51. DanielTheConversationalist March 23, 2009 at 6:51 pm 51

Twilight is basically for teeny-bopper. Some older people did enjoy it, but the target audience are teenage girls. The same group of girls that think High School Musical is a great movie. I couldn’t imagine you watching the movie, David.

  52. Anybody see Religulous? Too funny.

  53. Thanks on the tip I believe I will leave that to the teeny boppers and continue to watch adult movies like Rose Red and the Diary of Ellen Rembrauer. There are certain types of games I will leave alone especially the ones for kids. I mainly like spooky movies or horror flicks. There are some sitcoms I will sometimes watch like crime stories or real life crime stories. Sometimes documentaries but that is when I am down my parents house for I don’t watch tv that much.

  54. My fav’s:
Something to Talk About – Julia Roberts
all time fav – Pretty Woman and why can I relate? I don’t want to talk about it. :-)
The Wedding Date – Debra Messing, Dermot Mulroney
    The Holiday- Cameron Diaz
    French Kiss – Meg Ryan
Made of Honor – Patrick Dempsey
Sex in the City- well you know

  55. Good scene from Defending Your Life, David. Good choice.

Fear constrains & confines us. We too often let fear limit us.

Here are 2 good, inspirational scenes from the Rocky series. Watch them in this order:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25NmudB2fqg

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1tXhJniSEc&fmt=18

I would paste the actual clips into the message the way you did David, but don’t know how. Can you help me out on that? Someone? They’ll be easier to watch that way.

  56. Oh man – that clip from 9 1/2 Weeks is insane! I want to try to recreate that scene with a girl as soon as my roommate moves out, otherwise he’ll be like, “why did you f up our kitchen?”

Anyway, I think you should ignore Dan’s advice and do A BLOG POST on the movie Twilight. Do you know how many of your female subscribers would respond? Every. Single. One.

And us guys would be curious to see what you (and they) think of your analysis.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I will soon.

  57. Movies I’ve seen recently, and stuff I learned from them…what a great subject!
I really enjoyed the last one Madea Goes to Jail. It was hysterical particularly to those of us who had a Madea woman in our lives. The strong woman who is who she is and doesn’t give a crap what others think, and who loves her family in spite of themselves, and who is a really great friend! Oh and Tyler Perry is just about the hottest fellow ever!
Push, was a fun action movie….and it really says choose your love well, and teamwork, cooperation, and trust, can work miracles…

  58. Bertie

YOu like the fun get loose forget everything comedies!!

  59. Noah

When 9 1/2 weeks came out it was the rage…..everyone wanted to do that kitchen scene and i was i think 24 at the time.

And i rec created it with several women.

    Had a blast!!!

  60. Tony

Find the embedded code it is under more information usually on the right hand side of the video.

Sometimes you can find it underneath.

That way you can put the great clips here.

I saw the First Rocky as kid and loved it….remember drinking raw eggs that night and almost puked!!

  61. Mrs Movie

    All chick flicks!!!!!
And you leave us hanging with Pretty Women…….Now that could be interesting:)

  62. Yes David, I love those kinds…..
Is there any other way to be in life?

  63. Mac

    Swingers is the best!!!

  64. The most painful yet best scene from swingers.

Something to never ever do when calling a woman.

  65. Coach Kimberly March 23, 2009 at 9:37 pm 65

Jim–loved Vicky Cristina Barcelona! One of my favs this year! Penelope’s acting was insane.

But 91/2 weeks…wow…strawberries anyone?! That cannot be the same man

  66. David

More movies to watch, i can now see. Swingers is one of them. Another fun Movie with Vince is Dodgeball, I really enjoyed that one.

9 1/2 weeks foodscene how could we have guessed you had reenacted that one :-)

Pretty pretty good is from Larry David.

Knew this would be a fun one!

  67. Many great suggestions here! I have a fairly diverse range of favourite movies, all the way from Clint Eastwood to Woody Allen. My all time favourite would have to be Heat, with De Niro and Al Pacino – amazing story, acting, cinematography. It paints LA in a whole, other light – and what an incredible gun battle! :) Funnily enough, I met a girl here in Prague once who also said it was her favourite movie. :)

For the guys out there, I’d highly recommend watching some European cinema with your girl – these are some of my favs (links are to the Amazon pages) -

Hairdresser’s Husband (http://budurl.com/wemx) – makes me cry every time (and I almost NEVER cry! :) ). I remember first time I watched it the girl I was with literally jumped on me at the end (and we hadn’t so much as kissed before).

Cinema Paradiso (http://budurl.com/e424) – a beautiful, beautiful film. Make sure you watch the deluxe edition – the ending makes me emotional just thinking about it. A lot of great things in here that will resonate with readers of this blog.

(Hope the embed works. No subtitles in the clip, but not really needed).

Jean de Florette (http://budurl.com/cvug) and Manon des Sources (http://budurl.com/ebcp) – for some reason I’ve forgotten what you call two movies that belong together :) – I guess they’re ‘two part’ movies. The denouement of these brilliant movies breaks me up every time. I won’t give the ending away, but for me its shockingly sad. Why would I recommend something so sad? All I can say is that for me it perfectly validates what David is writing about. I sometimes make the mistake of talking about these movies when I’m on a date – its very difficult (for me) not to get emotional when thinking about it.

I’ve got quite a few other recommendations if people are interested. European cinema isn’t for everyone, but for me if a woman doesn’t like these sort of movies then she doesn’t have the kind of warm, vibrant spirit I’m looking for. They’re in complete contrast to many Hollywood movies (which I also like) – the ‘action’ is in the space between the words. Too many movies these days can’t exist without something dramatic happening, and it cuts out all chance for real thought and feeling (maybe because there’s none worth having in the movie).

For all you younger guys out there, I’d highly recommend spending a weekend watching movies like this. I remember spending one Christmas alone in London in my mid 20s, with nothing better to do than watch TV. Unluckily or luckily!) I couldn’t get a signal where I was (in Central London!), so had to rent videos. My local store was actually a sex video shop, but to get past local regulations they had to stock over 2/3 of non-porn movies in the front of their shop. They had over 200 French movies, more than 10 Italian movies, plus many others from all over Europe. To cap it off it was staffed by a stereotypical, miserable Frenchman who selected 10 of his favourite movies. I watched those over a few days and its fair to say that I wasn’t the same again – overnight I became much more interesting to the sort of women I wanted to be with, as well as much more interesting to myself.

Unfortunately I’ve seen very few (new) foreign movies since moving to Prague 7 years ago, as the subtitles are of the wrong kind now. :) I guess that’s another reason to finally learn Czech. :)

A longer post than planned, but this thread has inspired me! Most see if I can somehow get hold of one of the above tonight – its been too long!

  68. DanTheOriginal March 24, 2009 at 5:17 am 68

I love honey, especially on Kim Basinger!

  69. Re: Swingers Clip

Restraining Order, Restraining Order! I don’t know whether to laugh or cringe watching that. He should’ve listened to your MP3 on how to leave a message David. Yeah, maybe I should watch that movie. It seems to be a good demonstration of what NOT to do.

I can relate to the guy’s nervousness though. Cold calling is not easy. At least not for many of us. That knot in your chest, pounding heart, dry, constricting throat producing a high pitched, squeaking wimpy voice. My voice is pretty low, like a baritone or bass, but I remember one time when calling a girl and it went up to at least an alto, maybe a soprano. And I don’t mean THAT Tony. I went from sounding like James Earl Jones to Michael Jackson. lol I can laugh about it now, but it wasn’t funny at the time.

  70. I hope this works. Lots of good Rocky clips on YouTube but I think these 2 together make a good left-right combination:

  71. It didn’t work David. :( I copied & pasted the embed information on the right into the message field like you said.

  72. Nope, still not working.

  73. Pete

    Heat…

I found the end of that movie so ridiculous the way they were chasing each other.

Micheal Mann is a funny director….Loved him when he did Miami Vice

  74. Tony

You need the embedded code on you tube.

  75. Pete

    This was classic Micheal Mann

  76. David, I actually loved the ending. :) Believe it or not, I saw it at about the same time as all that European cinema (ie. ’96). Have watched Heat maybe 10 times – never tire of it. I also loved Pacino in Carlito’s Way, which came out a couple of years before that.

As for the embed code, I don’t think it works for us mere mortals. :) I cut and paste the code from YouTube in my previous comment, but nothing appeared. I’ve embedded YouTube videos elsewhere without problem.

  77. The way he used music with the scene was something never ever done before.

  78. Yeah, those are great clips! I don’t remember the 2nd one – funny how he looks almost exactly like Val Kilmer’s character from Heat in that one (or vice versa!). I’ll have to do some digging to see if I can find something equivalent from Heat.

  79. i couldn’t find any scenes with music, but there is this classic -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYSzx_zy-98

This is the famous scene between De Niro and Pacino in a dinner – brilliant.

The famous shootout scene is backed by a great score, but not a song, as per the clips from Miami Vice -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONHHdjyyVHo

Makes me feel like getting a few beers in and re-watching it again tonight … :)

  80. Marina, you wanted to recreate the scenario that your husband created when he passed away. I had my line and I drew it early on for you and when you attacked me with your negative energy, I moved on. I was going to start with suggesting a day or two off of the texts, but you were afraid of even that suggestion. You chose not to believe me when I offered lifelong friendship and by the end I felt like I was putting a bratty kid in time out.

I’ll still talk to you and be your friend. But that isn’t what you created, so now it is over.

  81. I remember both those Miami Vice eps. Takes me back. :) I loved that show!

  82. Yeah, seems Peter is having the same problem with the embed code for the YouTube clips that I am. I clicked the Embed Code which highlighted it in blue, then right-clicked Copy and then Pasted it into this message box like I’m typing in right now. But it didn’t work.

  83. Mike

You are very wrong i was not substituting you for my husband. I never rejected a friendship. That was not what i was creating. I am no here to convince you not my job.
I thought i was helping a friend and the negative talk i never did. If you have issues this is not the place to vent.

Don’t use a public place for this purpose. Just wish you well.

  84. You were acting in a similar manner the other as the days you were going to Oregon where you had David on Email and Me on txt to encourage. You said you did not want to feel better but both me and David helped you.

Who are you kidding, you really think I am going to fall for someone I have never seen or meet. I am not the child here.

Just take care of your self. This is so not what I was doing. I was responding to someone who wanted help.

I know you are a good boy and I have only good things to say about you.

  85. Then why did you hit a panic button when I backed off? You acted like I was never going to talk to you again. And now you are spinning how you felt because you know it isn’t on record. Your words weren’t negative to me but the anger, frustration and other related emotions were all over what you were sending me that day. I’m not apologizing. I tried to help and you still don’t see what I was trying to say. I’m not going to talk to a brick wall. When you are ready for the information you seek, it will come to you just like it came to me when I needed it in Oregon. You are here to learn how to date again. The guy I work for didn’t even want to date for the first six months and he just got divorced. I was trying to help you as a friend and you went haywire. I was laughing to myself with each text because of how desperate it felt. Keep on soul searching, I know you’ll get there.

  86. And I never said you substituted me for your husband. I said you wanted to feel how you felt that day on some level and that is what you didn’t address, and that is what will continue to slow you down. You were starting from day one wondering when and how I would seperate from you and that is what fueled you. I know you save everything, go back and read everything you sent to me that day and ask yourself if you don’t sound desperate.

My desperation turned into anger, which turned into doubt, which turned into sixteen years of not being true to myself. I tell you to do the same thing after five months of what you are going through and you can’t hear it because you’re not ready to hear it.

And you can say whatever you want about me on this blog. I’ve already opened myself up to the readers and the people who post here. They are a great support group even if I never hear from anyone.

  87. If you want to talk about this fine, but whats the point of doing it here. You have made up your mind and that’s fine.

  88. You didn’t fall for me but you sure as hell can’t lie that you didn’t wish it would work out.

Come on, you think I’m going to move to Florida and take over raising three kids? That’s out of control. And I’m not just going to get on a plane to just cuddle with you. So, if I came out to Florida, it would have been for one of two reasons, A. because I wanted to meet you and put a presence to the connection and then learn more about you. or B. because you looked like a good target for losing my virginity, which to me is a complete throw-away at this moment in time. I don’t want to be together with the person I have sex with, I want it to be over. I want to laugh and go, “ha ha, wasn’t that fun, but see you later.”

But we waited and developed a friendship instead and that quickly became more important to me than any of my two options above. So when I knew that I didn’t want just a quick fuck from you, I steered it to something else and we had some fun times. But the day I say, hold on a second, I’m going to take a break from this whole texting thing for a day or two, you act like I’m breaking up with you and you lose control.

I’m not trying to change you or even prove a point. I move on and learn from my mistakes. I know I made quite a few with you. Not asking for your photo was one of them, but you had to consciously hide behind that excuse because you knew that at one point I was just going to push you away. You’re beautiful and you have nothing to hide. Mistake one. Mistake two was when I started to feel a strong attraction, I didn’t want to ruin it, so instead of getting on a pland and seeing if it was real, I tried to strengthen it first by allowing you to see my soul and who I am which is what you were focused on after a while.

And when I decided that yes, this person does need to be my friend through thick and thin, I was appalled and shocked by your behavior when I tried to steer it to more of a friendship that I am used to instead of adapting to how you like to have your close friends and that turned into the meltdown we experienced.

It’s all perception and I know I made some mistakes. Sorry, eh? But that’s the way life is. I’m not mad at you. Just stunned that you decided to be mad at me for what you are felt was coming.

If you want to make comments eluding to me on this blog, I’m going to go ahead and tell this wonderful readership what those comments were in context to.

Take care big girl, you’ll find the answers you want if you slow down on the anger.

    Mike

  89. and what’s this made up your mind stuff? made up my mind about what?

  90. Mike, this is an inappropriate conversation to have in the comment section of a blog post – it is a discussion between two people, not one for the general public.

As an aside, you might want to rethink your advice to Marina on “slowing down on the anger”. If you remember, you were very negative and insulting when I gave some very reasonable advice on here a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t take it personally, as I could see it was coming from someone who was clearly going through a personal crisis. Nonetheless, its perhaps best not to pass on advice when you don’t follow it yourself.

  91. Peter, thank you this time for your advice. But David wants this stuff on here. Might as well see it happen in real time.

I lost my temper with you a while back and I’m sorry.

No one wants advice, everyone wants answers. I give answers not advice. Marina needs to slow down on her anger and that is my answer and my opinion. Doesn’t mean its right or wrong. Just my answer.

  92. I said it before this is not the place for a talk like this.

  93. What is appropriate for a blog like this?

When is it appropriate to talk about this with people who I want to hear their advice and learn from?

Is it not appropriate because it makes people uncomfortable? OR insecure?

If the rest of the blog would share more about what they are feeling, maybe we wouldn’t all need to be here listening to David’s advice.

I’m the world’s biggest liar and hypocrite, doesn’t mean I’m a bad writer. Just a bad person. Why tell me I’m a bad person when you don’t ask what the other person did?

People just want to feel good and go with the flow. How many times do you hear an argument and just go with your friends opinion because what you are fighitng about is irrelevent or unneccessary to fight about to begin with?

  94. There was no blogging a decade ago, who’s to say what’s right or wrong? Tell that to Jerry Springer or Tyra Banks. If one person won’t listen to what someone has to say but just attacks them with negative energy and accuses you of being the one who is the jerk then where is the right place to have this discussion? Certainly not over a text message when you have my phone number. Certainly not on a blog. Certainly not in person because then everyone just lies to each other. There is no right place to talk about it and since I don’t like being attacked, I chose to share it here since when I tried to have this discussion in real time with the person it was affecting, I got barraged with accusations.

The real issue for me here is that I want to be able to tell someone that I feel they are wrong and the modern myth is that if a woman is upset, then you aren’t allowed to say you they are wrong because that would hurt their feelings. Funny how that doesn’t apply to guys and their emotions.

  95. Don’t worry Peter, I’ll stop. Just makes me laugh. Everyone wants a Libertarian society in a Marxist world.

I’m not bad at meeting people, but yeah, I do need advice on how to tell someone, “He’s just not that into you.”

  96. David,

You should watch Rodger Dodger. It’s about a teen kid with a poor father figure in his life, going to New York to hang out with his uncle. His uncle takes him out on the town and teaches him about life while showing him how to pick up girls. It’s right up your alley.

  97. Mike, if David wants this discussion here then my comment about it being in appropriate was out of place. :) That said, its still my opinion that if something is between two people then its best to keep it between two people, but that’s just my opinion. In this case I’m not really interested who is right or wrong – my attraction to this thread was the discussion on movies. I am a little upset that nobody has commented on my excellent foreign language movie recommendations. :)

  98. Peter, you actually gave me a few new ones to watch. I have seen Cinema Paradiso. Such a beautiful movie. Amalie is another great choice, even if its a little obvious.

Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources. I’m very excited about these two. And the other one about the Hairdresser. I’m going to watch a new vampire movie from Sweden called, “Let The Right One In”. It’s supposed to be the best vampie movie to come along in decades. Can’t wait.

David wants people to express themselves on here. But yeah, I know, when it is specifically about two people, then you’re right, it should be on a more even playing field. I get worked up easily and just want to let my conscious flow. sometimes I forget to edit. I’m an evolving work in progress. The day I reach perfection is the day that everyone else lowers their standards.

  99. last one,

someone needs me to play the role of a vampire to get back on track. i’m fine with making that sacrifice. just want that person to know that it didn’t have to be that way, is all.

  100. and I guess maybe anger isn’t the right emotion to be discussing. Maybe it’s a very real need to be selfish since you never had a chance to be selfish with what you did lose.

    Ok, seriously, last one.

  101. wrong again !

That was not you i was referring to but an old class mate. The reason why i even started blogging here.

  102. marina, relax. nothing to prove here. i’m done posting about this here.

if I’m right, which I don’t care if I am or not, you will figure out the reason you are here and move on. If not, then you can keep me as a bad guy for your life to change. I’ve played that role countless times before.

  103. Or you can tell me what you think I did wrong for the whole world to see?

  104. Mike, did you see the director’s cut of Cinema Paradiso or the original theatrical release? The director’s cut added about 45 mins to the movie that concerned the protagonist when he returned to his home town as an adult. The denouement was so sad – very similar to that at the end of Manon des Sources. I never saw the original version – can’t imagine cutting anything from the version I saw. Anyway, if you liked this movie you’ll love the French movies.

I forgot to mention Amelie – although its not on the same standard as the others, I did really enjoy watching it. I actually have quite a funny story about seeing it. It came out in my first year in Prague, and I remember a very cute instructress at my gym of the time strongly recommending I see it. At about the same time (before I saw the movie) I started to get postcards at my office from different places around Europe. The first one was from France, and was in French (funnily enough!). A couple of days later I got one from Germany (in German!). That was followed by one from somewhere else in Czech Republic (in Czech!) and then one from another European country, this time in English. The cards were quite mysterious and were just signed ‘Amelie’.

The day after getting one of the cards I was in the gym and saw the instructress, who asked me if I’d seen Amelie yet, which kind of floored me with the timing. I thought she liked me, but I couldn’t quite place her as sending the cards and felt hesitant asking her about it. it turns out the cards were sent by a woman in my office building who I chatted to from time to time in the corridor – I hadn’t even considered it might be her. I wasn’t that interested in pursuing anything there, but was very flattered by all the trouble she’d gone to. I’d never make anywhere as romantic a gesture as that myself. :)

I saw the movie a few days later, by the way, and loved it! Only seen it the once, so must try and pick it up again if I can. I’ll look out for your recommendation (“Let The Right One In”), but it will probably be very difficult to get it here with English subtitles. I can’t wait until the online movie sites like iTunes start stocking a decent range of foreign cinema ….

  105. Marina and A movie

    Let the whole world see.

I think we can all help you both.

As you know I do not monitor what goes on back here but how did a movie thread become this?

We were all so light fun and what happened?

  106. This has turned into one of my all time favorite break up movies,

  107. Mike

I don’t need you to be a bad guy for my life to change. You will always be a great experience in my life. I don’t worry about what I can’t control. I have no interest in sharing all this with everybody but have a hard time not responding when there is no other way I can reach you. You know how to reach me, this is not the place.

  108. David

That is a great clip. ;-)

  109. I can turn anything into a soap opera, ten posts or less. Just give me a topic.

  110. A movie

Let me think about a new topic that we can turn into a soap opera…now tell me what movie really resonated with you.

  111. Marina

I thought you would like it!!!!

  112. DanTheOriginal March 24, 2009 at 7:45 pm 113

I think a.movie and Sandra will make a great couple:-)

  113. Mike
I was not the one who attacked you Dan The Original said for you to get some help and off the blog. I believe I came to your defense somehow. DTO: Keep me out of your affairs and do us both a favor until the day you met me face to face keep me out of your conversations.

  114. Mike
I know where you are coming from sometimes men do get too much for a woman. But when a woman has been with different guys in her past like I have with myself. I have found it is best to let someone be upfront and honest about their feelings instead of hiding them. And if this is your way of discussing your issues in other to seek others advice then so be it. But do it in respect…
    Luv Ya
    Sandra
    P.S.
I can see you are going to say Fuck You again my comment oh Mike I did not know you care for me that much…anytime my sweets who knows you may like it….lol

  115. Like my parents would say to me don’t start no shit….when they say that I leave it alone and this one is especially from my mom and when she says it I back off: I did not ask for this SHIT!!! Just a friendly reminder lets forgive and forget and move on to the next blog that is history lets make some more for I don’t remember what happened last month for I have been through a lot here lately and if you were to walk a mile in my shoes you would be looking for a hole to crawl in.

  116. Oh DTO
If you have anymore lovers spats with Mike please keep my name out of it….Mike and I can handle our own problems without you telling us to leave California and go get some help and this blog is not for you….Trust me I am in no mood and I am trying to get in a better one.

  117. I think we created our own version of war of the roses here.

    A peaceful blog turned bad:)

Its what makes the free forum fun.

  118. Well, I’ll be! What the fuck happened back here while I was at work with all those sick people?
The War of the Roses……ah what a great divorce flick! The only one who ever wins in a divorce is the attorney!

  119. Sandra, I have to say that I find DanTheOriginal’s posts quite funny. I also enjoy needling people who I find annoying. Dan, keep it up! :)

Btw, I know that might sound rude to you Sandra, but to be honest, your constant posting a few months back got really annoying. I’d probably normally be a little peeved by your posts now, but as it seems so much less in comparison I can just about handle it. :)

I think the message here is to understand that we often can’t see how we are perceived by others, which is to our detriment. For example, I’m certain that I’ve talked endlessly on dates about things that my date wasn’t interested in at all. Probably my earlier lengthy post about foreign language films is a good example of this. :) Can’t please all the people all the time though, and of course if we don’t like something we can always ignore it.

  120. David and Noah,

Twilight is not just for teenagers. Im 30 and my friends and I loved the series mostly for the huge love story and nothing to do with the fact that it is about vampires lol. Great book series. I really liked the movie Seven Pounds with Will Smith it is coming out I think on DVD next week. Heart breaking movie that had me sobbing.

  121. Taryn
Regardless what people say about Twilight I have not seen the movie…The movies I have are Garfield The Movie…Garfield The Tale of Two Kittens. I like romance like Oklahoma…The Sound Of Music… Yes I still have the kid in me…I am 49 years old and like to watch Sailor Moon…But my favorite Christmas story is Scrooge!…It does not matter what kind of movie it is and what others say if I want to watch it I will.

  122. Anyone seen Shortbus?

I may be a prude, but after watching that movie without flinching, I think I can visualize pretty much anything. Let’s just say it featured an all male rowing team scene, except they all had their paddles on the same side and were going in a circle. If you are a secure in your sexuality type of person, see if you can watch this movie. It is a very brave performance.

    Dan, love the sarcasm.

David, I’ll have to think about other movies. I watch everything.

    Sandra, you’re the best.

    Marina, I’m sorry.

And Peter, Let the Right One In was awesome. Very original and very entertaining. Now I’m going to watch Twilight and see how the same theme is done in America.

  123. Sandra and Dan,

I am getting help, that’s why I am here. I’m past the point of worrying about what people say about me when I’m not around. I know I am dramatic and stubborn. Two great traits for a filmmaker, but not often useful when trying to hook up.

Dan, if you do have something to say, you can go ahead and say it to me. I’m not a child, I just act like one.

  124. Mike

    Don’t worry ;-)

  125. Mike
I am getting help myself for some health issues that I am going through…But I will not mention them here on the blog…So those extras like DTO unless you are a MD…Do not comment…I am here for David’s advice on dating for I do not need his validations about any man that I am seeing.

  126. TWILIGHT!!!

Every girl from my 12 year old cousin to all my married friends in their 30s to my mom to my grandma LOVE this series of books. The movie is good, but the books are addictive. The reason every girl in the world is falling in love for these vampires, esp. the main hero Edward, is because it’s a story about true love/soul mates finding each other. Edward is completely in love with Bella, and devoted to her, takes care of her, wants her best good in every area, protective, and hot/sexy/gorgeous/rich…. it’s the love relationship that is amazing, and what every woman wants in some form. I’d highly advise every guy to read this series and have an inside look into what is making every girl and woman emotionally addicted to this series and in love with these characters!

  127. Shortbus seem like an interesting movie, reminds me of European movies, but I think first I will see the Wrestler. A lot of interesting choice here.

  128. Wow David, looks like a serious movie club discussion. :-)
to answer your q, Shawshank taught me perseverance, never to give up.
    love,
    Raj

  129. This will be my contribution of maybe one of my most favorite movie scenes.

  130. Oh Peter
Is it boring in ur hometown it must be…You and Dan can not find any pussy in town so you sit in front of ur computer just looking for pussies to come ur way or is u find DTO cock so exciting ur comments are bullshit too. Go find a faggot and for the day you meet me cocksucker you have nothing to say,l,, to me get ur damn crystal ball out and see if u can find me in ten buck two bum fucked egypt and leave my computer alone i work for a living not seeking pussies like DTO to join up with….Sorry just had to get it out.
    COCKSUCKER!!!!!!!!

  131. Sandra, what a sweet lady you are! How unlucky I am not to have such a wonderful woman in my life. :-)

I guess you missed the point I was making, but I kind of got the message a while back that normal communication skills aren’t your forte. :-)

And yes, it was a boring evening this evening, but you’ve given me a good laugh. Many thanks! :-)

  132. You know Sandra, if you explode like this at a stranger, what are you like in an argument with someone close to you? I know it will annoy you for me to say it, but don’t you think this sort of reaction might be one of the reasons why you’ve been married so many times? Wouldn’t your life be easier if you didn’t just vomit out whatever thought is on your mind? Verbal diarrhea can be just as messy/ugly as the real thing ….

  133. Peter
You are a cold hearted you know what and for your information I do not explode like this at strangers just ones that think they know me in real life.,……I have been put through living HELL YOU HEAR AND IF THIS IS HOW YOU TALK TO WOMEN YOU DONT KNOW then let me let u in on a secret I DID NOT ASK FOR YOURS OR DTO’S SHIT so don’t add to my plate I might cool off in May who knows or that is none of ur business and i will ignore ur comments as well

  134. Sandra, when did I say I think I know how you are in ‘real life’? All I have to go on is how you behave through your posts. In any case, your statement begs the question ‘if this isn’t how you are in real life, why are you adopting a different persona here?’.

There’s no need to run the ‘poor little old me’ routine here. Everyone has their challenges and has things to learn. I was giving you feedback based on how you were communicating, feedback that in my humble opinion you really need to hear. The fact that your ego was so threatened that it responded in such an extreme manner suggests that what I wrote hit home.

Anyway, no point in getting so upset. Giving your personal power away to a stranger because you’re upset by what they wrote is pretty weak.

  135. Peter
    Who gives a HOLY FUCK

  136. Its pretty obvious that you do!

And if you don’t care about how you come across to other people I’d suggest that this might be an area you want to look at.

  137. Pete
What kind of ploys do you use on us women I bet u wont talk to a guy like that will you…I have heard so many ploys being used by people it is not funny. TA TA got other things to do….

  138. Sandra, I’m upfront with pretty much everyone. If you were able to speak with women who know me they’d almost all say that I’m very ‘straight up’, no games, no bullshit. As a result I relate very well to intelligent, quality women. Why do you think that I’d want to use a ploy when communicating with you? I’ll say it again, I’m only giving you feedback of your communication as I see it. Responding with insults and petty comments that avoid the substance of what I’m saying is fairly pointless.

And one final point. I’ve noted how you say ‘us women’ as if I’m addressing all women in my comments here. That’s obviously rubbish. As you should remember I gave feedback (right or wrong) to Mike as well. If you gain comfort from looking at some home truths by thinking of this as an ‘us vs. them’ argument, then you’re not doing yourself any favours. I’m sure everyone who reads this can see through your faulty logic.

  139. Help anyone,

I tried to copy and paste the embedded link from Youtube but nothing comes up. Where I am I going wrong.

  140. DanielTheConversationalist March 25, 2009 at 5:51 pm 143

You folks do know that every person that commented previously is getting e-mail copies of every single comment you made. My e-mail inbox is being flooded with these e-mails and it seems that we know much more information about you folks than what we really need to know. I would recommend exchanging Screen Names and instant messaging each other.

  141. Dan
This has been a crazy blog. Twp fights.

Is funny this was alite blog to get people thinking movies not fighting.

  142. Then again…….some of this is very interesting reading.

    Why the anger?

  143. Marina, there seems to be a bug with embedding videos for anyone but David. Just post the link.

Daniel, there’s an easy solution – click on the link ‘Manage your subscriptions’ at the bottom of the page and opt out of this thread. But yes, I do agree with the thrust of what you’re saying. Quite a few posts could be consolidated or not made at all – a point that I was trying to subtlety make to Sandra, but that was obviously missed.

  144. David, my point exactly. Too many people get caught up defending their ego when they’d be much better off looking at the communication they’re getting, or why they’re reacting in the way they are. I’m guilty of this too of course, its just that I don’t display my weaknesses so openly.

  145. Thought you would all like this….

  146. David,

we know you love a good blog fight just trying to help you ;-)

If you refer to me there was never any anger.

    Peter
thanks I will post the link again to lighten the energy here. It’s Life Of Brian Always look at the bright side of life one of my favorites.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1loyjm4SOa0

  147. Peter

People love to think with ego.

That is how fear really manifests.

I wrote a great blog on ego a while back.

  148. DTC
I agree did u know that I have emails to several here on the blog. Hey if anyone would like to email me feel free to ask for my email I will be glad to talk to you there…

  149. DanielTheConversationalist March 25, 2009 at 6:03 pm 152

Peter: I am aware of the ‘Manage your subscriptions’ link at the bottom of the page, but do not wish to opt out of this thread. Some people actually have interesting comments to make on these blogs in regards to the topic of these posts, but I have to filter most of the diatribe that is posted in these comments.

  150. I have had the chance to hang out with Wayne Dyer.

I think everyone needs to listen and watch this.

  151. Dave
Kung Fu Panda has Angelina Jolie in it I would not buy that movie…The tabloids that I see her on is so boring I can’t stand her voice….Maybe if the tabloids would stop writing us a book on Brad Angelina and Jen maybe I would not mind….But the anger well had to let some steam off…

  152. That is better no Kung Fu Panda please…

  153. It was a joke………and what do you not like about angelina?

  154. Marina

I do like a good blog fight.

It makes the day really pass along:)

  155. Sandra

    Just for you.

  156. Marina
Or Monty Python”s Holy Grail Run Away Run Away when he said that to that guy. Did you know that my ex husband and my daughter would go through Ashland City Tennessee playing that oriental song one night they did it in front of a Chinese Restraunt I got out of the car and said I don’t know you.

  157. David

forget about the fight what was that daytrade software you found the out being the best ?

  158. Dave
When the gossip man comes in Wal Mart he leaves those stupid tabloids and all I see is Brad Angelina and Jen the last time I read Jen and her boyfriend broke up and I can not stand to hear another word about those two. Now put up some Cocktail or Top Gun by Tom Cruise and his wife Katie… I would not mind but if you want to torture me just put the threesome up there.

  159. Hi David, that’s quite funny, cos I was going to mention Wayne Dyer in reply to what you wrote a few mins back. As it happens I was listening to the audiobook version of ‘Power of Intention’ today! Anyway, that was a great clip – can’t get enough of his wisdom. Jealous that you had an opportunity to meet him!

Sandra, I suggest you take the time to watch the clip and perhaps explore Dyer’s teachings further.

Marina, I also love Life of Brian – thanks for the clip!

  160. That would be punishment enough they don’t bore me with Tom and Katie and I read they are having another baby someone to keep Suri company…

  161. I bet tomorrow when I walk in there will be some left over tabloids about Brad getting caught with the nanny again and running off on his motorcycle…I have to ride on baby ride on.

  162. Dave
The day I plan on coming to Callie to have a nice choking party with my son in law remind me to pay u a visit…lol

  163. Sandra

As you know i dont give a fuck about celebrities:)

They are just people and deserve privacy!!

No interest in anything they do.

  164. Peter

My girlfriend is friends with Wayne Dyer and i had a great Sunday night dinner with him a few months ago.

    He is amazing,

What a great message and he lives it as well.

So many people preach but dont live the message they preach.

He was a great guy to meet and I learned a lot from him.

  165. Dave
    My sentiments

  166. Pete
Have you ever heard the expression let ole dogs lie that is history now go on with your life and forget about it. I am over it….Next blog is what i seek

  167. Hi David, now I understand the strong attraction between you and your girlfriend! I am also looking for a woman who is open to matters of the spirit. You’re a lucky guy!

It doesn’t surprise me what you said about Wayne – his sincerity oozes forth from his writing and speaking. Having the chance to have dinner with him must have been very special indeed. You’ve further motivated me to finish my first listening of ‘Power of Intention’ tomorrow.

Dan Millman was here in Prague last year for a speech and a workshop. That would have been a great opportunity to meet the sort of woman I want to spend time with, so I’m kicking myself I didn’t go. That said, a lot of women here are much more open spiritually. Fortunately the cult of celebrity isn’t nearly as strong here, although we do get the usual celebs on newspaper and magazine covers. As I don’t look at these its a bit easier to avoid it!

  168. Yeah, I saw what you had to say on the next post. I guess the dog got up from this corner and went and laid in another one. :)

  169. Peter

Always go and see these guys speak.

Women flock to these events and if this is who you are then the law of attracttion will work its magic.

You will be able to meet and speak from the heart!

  170. David, I know – I won’t make the same mistake twice! Next time you see Wayne tell him to head over this way so that I can manifest the woman of my dreams. :)

  171. Peter

    As wayne would say.

You attract who you are and not what you want!!

Become that man and she will find you.

I think you know that and i know you are becoming the man that you love.

Its all about self love and self respect and that is why i think this blog and its posters really got to you.

    You create your own reality

  172. That’s one of the things I remember him saying on the bit I listened to today – love the synchronicity! Of course I’m still on the journey to becoming the sort of man I want to be (who is ever really there?), but I’ve seen plenty of hints I’m on the right path from the sort of women I’ve met along the way. I’ve been very lucky to avoid women with a lot of drama in their lives.

This sort of discussion is what I really love about your blog. For all you younger guys out there, there’s huge value in what David’s talking about here. You can save a lot of time and heartache in your journey by starting the inner exploration as early as possible. Sometimes I regret not having done it sooner (cos I was exposed to this many years ago), but change comes when you’re ready!

  173. Peter

It was great talking with you tonight my friend!!!

  174. Damn! 176 (177 with mine) comments posted to this blog. Could this be a record? I came and checked my email and I had 100 freakin messages waiting for me, about 99% had to do with something between the two old sea-hags Marina and Sandra and the producer.

    Peace-out!

  175. Mac

We had a blog about 4 weeks ago with 300 responses.

Its funny but the simplest blogs seem to get the most responses.

  176. Mac

Where I come from this would be a sea-hag.! Funny movie though. Kingpin scene with the landlord.

  177. For those who love European Movies this a great movie where you find you self laughing at very wrong things. It’s Danish Movie Adam’s Œbler or Adams Apples

  178. From the Sea Hag
So are you Captain Cum and get me if u want to come aboard…Or are you Captain Rabbit can’t figure out which woman you want go play your ploy on someone else…lol…You can’t hang with a woman that has children and wants to protect their daughters from players like you…Hey I have lived my life and waiting for the right opportunity to set sail on this one persons vessels when he gets his life in order.

  179. Now if you are into kids stuff, this is an amazing short and very inspirational for kids. Minuscule are the name of the shorts. I have rarely seen kids get so much into it and start commenting about it and laugh.

  180. Hey you critics out there I don’t need your personal validation or remarks my affairs are my own and shall remain as such…Been there done that…One day I will set sail with my Captain and when that day comes look out we both got our lives straight and in order….

  181. If you don’t believe this tale is true ask the blind man he saw it too: This is how it goes I was taught this when I was a teenager:
One dark night in the middle of the day
Two dead boys got up to play
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard the noise
Came to arrest the two dead boys
If you don’t believe this tale is true
    Ask the blind man
    He saw it too..
    Here is another one
One dark night in the middle of the day
Through an alley a shit wagon flew
    A wheel came off
    A scream was heard
A man was hit by flying turd
And on his grave this was writ
This man was killed by flying shit…
Just a little humor to set the mood this morning…

  183. Agreed. Its not funny. If Sandra hadn’t already written ad infinitum that she was a 49yo woman, then I would have guessed she was a young boy. Sandra, how does any of this rubbish that you’ve been writing contribute anything? You are capable of making intelligent comment, so why don’t you try and restrict yourself to that?

    >>>>>>>>You are capable of making intelligent comment

I haven’t noticed that yet Peter:-)

What is wrong with that Czech Prime Minister???He is either an idiot or smarter than everyone, time will tell.

  185. Yeah, perhaps I was being a bit too generous. :)

Most Czech politicians are idiots, but on this point I think he’s right. These huge deficits have to be funded by someone – in the case of the US a large portion of the money will come from places like China. Any money that goes towards funding US debts will mean that there is less money in the global financial system for other countries, corporations, etc, etc. The figures are so large that I think most people have lost all perspective of how big a problem this is.

  186. Did we detect some sarcasm boys ? :-)

  187. Sarcasm? What’s that? :-)

  188. DanTheOriginal March 26, 2009 at 7:03 am 191

We are clearly in unprecedented territory and time will tell who is right or wrong. My money is with Bernanke and the Obama team…If not, we are screwed. If Sandra gets laid off at WalMart due to lack of business we are all fucked:-)

Marina: Thanks for understanding…oh yeah, takes so much work to focus…it’s exhausting:-)

  189. Boys keep this pace and i bet we will set new blog records ?

A lot of Lovin here !

  190. Yep, that’ll be the canary in the mine shaft! :-)

Which be followed by a inexplicably rush to manage ones subscriptions for reasons unknown.

  192. I don’t bother to get the email updates.

I chose to post about something that troubles me, something that I know I need to work on and thank you again to everyone who even read it. I am making progress but I am not clear of things yet.

If it isn’t interesting to read, I know people won’t read it so something must keep you all coming back and reading these.

I had 3 links to Youtube that was put in a wait zone, were they removed or should I re enter them ?

  194. The system seems to switch some posts into a moderation queue, so I guess they’ll get put through once people wake-up in LA. :)

  195. Some…., I finally reached the censor list. Mission accomplished !

  196. If it goes into moderation i need to approve it….but first i need to wake up:)

  197. Enjoyed the last 10 posts!!!!

It was a good way to wake up.

  198. With hours like these i hope you taught Daphne to flush. :-)

  199. Thanks
for getting the links up Adams Apples and the Minuscule are great.

  200. 2 films I’ve seen recently was Yes Man and I Love You Man. What those movies showed me was not to be afraid of whatever I do, don’t be concerned with what others say or think of you, and be open to something new. Get out of the boring little box we may all live in and embrace life.

A line from Yes Man that got my attention was when Jim Carrey and his gf in the film were at the Hollywood Bowl and she said “You know, who cares. The world is a playground, u know that as a kid but somewhere along the way everyone forgets it!”

  201. Jason you are so right. Get out of the boring box that we may all live in and embrace life. I will remember this. Very well worded. I may add as we embrace life to always be ourselves and be true to ourselves as others. Being “myself” has always been an important factor. So many are so afraid of being themselves. As David said. We need to live the message we send out. People around us do pay attention to this.

  202. Rourke abandoned his acting career to become a professional boxer. What happened to his appearance is a result of this bold detour.

He was here in Russia recently premiering the Wrestler with Aronofsky. And what a beast of masculinity he is!

Just watch this video of his interview on the prime news channel. You don’t have to know the language to understand what’s going on. A few weeks earlier the very same anchor interviewed Tom Cruise. And it was all calm and quiet.
