I want all of you to know when I speak, I speak wisdom.

You want proof.

Back in September before the football season started, I made a prediction about Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

Check out the last paragraph of this blog from September and you will see that David Wygant speaks wisdom. Click here for the wisdom.

Charles Woodsen WIll Get Laid Tonight

Dating is a process a lot of us really can live without. It’s an emotional roller coaster that can drive you to drink four year-old bottles of Mike’s Hard Lemonade from the back of your refrigerator. There are so many ups and downs of dating.

Here is my top 10 list of the most frustrating dating ups and downs and how to feel better about them:

1. We made out in the parking lot and they never called again. Making out is fun! You needed it. They needed it. Don’t beat yourself up that you did it, just realize you did it. You needed some tonsil hockey and to cop a feel. Be OK with it. It was a great date. You were in the moment, and you experienced something that you wanted to do.

2. I texted them the next morning to say “I had a great time last night,” and they never texted back. So what? You had a great time last night. So did they. They just woke up, and their post-date recap was different from yours. Yes, they probably had a good time but when they thought about it, the chemistry and the “it” factor wasn’t there. It’s not about you. At least you were honest. You lobbed in an honest text. So you did all you can do.

3. Stop the mental post-date recap abuse. You went out with somebody with whom you thought you had a connection, and it turns out you didn’t. So now you’re going to mentally torture yourself for the next four days trying to figure out what you said wrong. You’ll even torture all your friends asking them what you could have done differently to have a different outcome. There is nothing you can do differently after a date is over. It wasn’t the conversation about your drunken uncle that you now think made him think you’re a budding alcoholic. The post-date recap is a form of mental torture. You will never know what that other person is thinking unless they call you. If they don’t call, it really does mean that he or she is just not that into you (which is about the only good advice from that ridiculously stupid book).

4. Should I have said something different in my voicemail message? You left a voicemail message, and now you’re replaying it in your head a thousand times. “Was the way I said ‘Last night was fun’ not with enough enthusiasm? Is that what is making the person not call me back?” When it comes down to voicemail messages, the shorter the message the better it is. From an old sales technique, I always prefer to say “Last night was fun. I have something really funny to share with you the next time we speak.” That’s it . . . it creates a little bit of intrigue, a little bit of mystery and no mental torture.

5. Who cares what they think? You left the above voicemail message without knowing if you’ll ever see them again, and they don’t call you back. You start to think “Now they know that I like them … and they don’t like me.” So what? Is it better just not to do anything? Is it better to just sit there and hope and pray that they call? I always believe in being honest. If you’re the one who left the voicemail message and the other person doesn’t call back, again so what?? You’ve got to do what feels right for you.

6. Stop giving your power away to one person. If a two hour date can cause you to give away all your power and confidence, then you need to learn to embrace yourself and love yourself even more. This is just one person you went out with that you knew for two hours. They don’t know what an amazing person you are. The only thing they know is the person they sat across from at the table. Whether they choose to hang with you again isn’t the issue. The issue is that one person does not determine your worthiness. This is just a person that you went out with, and they’re not calling you back. You’ve got toughen your skin. Rejection is what dating is all about. You just can’t take it personally. If I go out with someone and I had a great time, but they never want to see me again, I’m still a great person the next day.

7. In order to feel better about dating, you need to think abundance. Just because you think you like somebody and they don’t call you back, this is not the last person in the world you’re going to meet. In order to be a successful dater, you need to practice abundance. The power of abundance is training your mind that if it doesn’t work out with one person (or ten people), that there are plenty of other people out there that want to meet you and hang out with a fantastic person like yourself.

So, forget about #8, #9 and #10. I think seven is a lucky number in Las Vegas and if you’re vacationing this summer in Las Vegas you want lucky sevens to come up. So these “lucky seven” are enough here too.

The next thing you need to do is repeat seven times “There really are plenty of fish in the sea.” You just need to be willing to put your pole out there every single day until you hook the one you’re supposed to be with.

The Super Bowl was a great game this year. I really enjoyed it. I was pretty amazed at the way things went down. Well, actually, I wasn’t. You know me, I’ve been a good football predictor all year.

Do you realize that Super Bowl Sunday is the man event of the year? Now, I know a lot of women also watch it and enjoy it, but this is a man’s event.

This is an “Oh my God, why doesn’t Hallmark have a line of Super Bowl cards?” type of important event to men. This is a day that a man wishes his girl could find a card to give him that says:

To My Honey On This Super Bowl Sunday…
Enjoy it even though I know I know your team is not in it.
Enjoy it even though you are neutral.
May your love of the game outweigh your sadness that the Jets lost in the Championship Game.
So may this Super Bowl XLIV be a special day for you.

Imagine if Hallmark did it like that. Hallmark is missing Super Bowl cards. That would be amazing.

Do you know what Super Bowl cards would be? They would be for men the equivalent of a woman getting a Valentine’s Day card.

Not only that, there should be Super Bowl gifts like there are on Valentine’s Day. You could buy your man some man-lingerie. Think about it. You could get him a tighter fitting NFL Jets jersey (or a jersey from his favorite team) and some matching New York Jets underwear. It would be the equivalent of women’s lingerie.

Can you imagine that on Super Bowl Sunday? The man wakes up to a present of some great man-lingerie. There it is . . . his favorite team’s logo on some tight shirt and shorts that he can wear and show off his muscles to you.

Then maybe there could be other gifts to go with the man-lingerie. How about some Jets Soap On A Rope? Perhaps some New York Jets cologne.

Who knows what could be created to celebrate this most amazing of man days? I’m telling you, the NFL and Hallmark missed a huge day, because men all over the world could have been getting cards and man-lingerie from women.

Here’s the thing. Valentine’s Day is women’s Super Bowl Sunday.

It is so many men’s failure to see Valentine’s Day this way that causes them to put no effort into it and make lame reservations. It also causes them to not understand how doing that leaves women feeling really disappointed.

Picture you as a man meeting your girlfriend at your annual Super Bowl party with all your friends, and she shows up with a can of cheap bean dip (instead of actually making the amazing bean dip from her Grandmother’s recipe). How could she do this to you on your special day?

Well that is the same type of feeling a woman gets when you make lousy reservations or lame plans for Valentine’s Day. So all of you men need to think about Valentine’s day this year.

I also know that some of you are not in the “Valentine’s Day Mode” because you do not have a girlfriend or a date on Valentine’s Day. So instead of being depressed and angry that you don’t have a date, call one of your friends and say, “Let’s do a Valentine’s Day pub crawl” or “Let’s have an anti-Valentine’s Day party. But here is the rule: Everybody has to invite a new person who is single and that no one in the group knows.”

This way, you can have a great time and expand your social network at the same time. You know I talk all the time about important this is to do.

I talked more about this in this week’s podcast. If you missed it, you can listen to it HERE.

God, it’s like football withdrawal right now. What are we going to do until next August?

Baseball is boring. Basketball really heats up soon, but who cares? Well in my personal opinion, I don’t.

Before we men mourn the end of football season, however, all the guys out there need to remember that there is one more Super Bowl coming up this Sunday. It’s called Valentine’s Day.

For those of you who have a date on this women’s Super Bowl Sunday, you had better come up with something good when you make the plans. After last Sunday, it is your turn to celebrate her day and to show her an amazing time.

For those of you who are single and who do not have a date this Valentine’s Day, this blog and today’s podcast are also for you. So let’s talk about Valentine’s Day.

In today’s podcast, I am not only going to talk about what to do if you have a date on Valentine’s Day. I am also going to talk about what to do if you do not have a date, and how to get out of that pre-Valentine’s Day funk.

If you are single and don’t have a date this Valentine’s Day, I have an idea I am going to share with you in this podcast that will make this Valentine’s Day amazing. It is something that will actually have people bringing single people to you so you can have a post-Valentine’s Day date (which is actually even better and much less pressure-filled than a Valentine’s Day date).

No, I don’t have a man crush on Drew Brees nor am I going to have a bromance with him. Here is the scoop on why Drew Brees is the sexiest man in America, and why every single man needs to listen to what he said in his post-game conference.

When asked to what he attributed the Saints’ Super Bowl victory, he basically told the world that he believed in everything the Saints were doing. He believed in his team. He believed in his coach. He believed in the city of New Orleans. He believed in himself.

He said it with such passion and conviction. I am putting a YouTube clip at the end of the blog of him making this speech after the game so you can see it for yourself.

He even showed emotion in this speech. At the end of the game, he had his son (maybe ten months old) in his arms. While his son was clueless about what was going on, Drew was not.

His son looked around the stadium like any ten month old would, with a look of “What the hell is going on here?” (Well, that is what he would say if he was talking on an E*Trade commercial). With tears streaming down his face, Drew Brees held his son because, to him, celebrating that moment with his son was more important than anything.

The bottom line is that it is called passion and desire . . . and it shows. The problem that most men have when it comes down to meeting women is that they do not believe in themselves.

They don’t believe in the game plan. I see this every day. I think of myself as the coach and you guys being my team.

I can’t tell you how many times I receive an email that says something like, “You know, I tried that one thing you talked about in one of your programs, but it just doesn’t work for me.” Do you know why it didn’t work for you?

The reason it doesn’t work for you is because you don’t believe in yourself. These principles and techniques work for me every single time, and they work for everyone else who believes.

When your coach tells you what to do, do you do it or do you just over-think things? Sean Payton told Drew Brees what to do. Drew Brees believed in Sean Payton 110% and did everything he was told, because they work together.

It’s called trust. It’s called confidence. It’s called faith, not only in yourself but in the people you go to for advice.

Do you want to be more sexy to women? Become Drew Brees.

Now, I’m not talking about you throwing the ball to Marques Colston in the end zone. I’m talking about living your life full of passion and belief.

Not one time did Drew Brees ever think that the Saints did not have the better team, even when they were down 10-0. You could see it in his eyes. All he wanted was to get back on that field, because he truly believed that the best team was his team.

When you walk over to a woman, do you truly believe that you’re the greatest gift she’ll every experience? Or, do you walk over with your tail between your legs wondering if she likes you and will accept you?

Where is your mindset? Mindset is everything in life.

Without the right mindset, the Saints would not have won the Super Bowl. I talk all about that in yesterday’s blog.

They had the right mindset. They had the right beliefs.

Did the Colts believe that they were the better team? Absolutely. Do the Colts maybe deep down still believe that they’re the better team? Sure, because they believe in themselves too.

Belief is really important. It’s time that you are able to believe in yourself, and that you stop wondering what other people think of you.

Walk over to that woman, as Drew Brees would, and claim her for yourself. Walk over to her and be the most powerful version of Drew Brees that you can be.

So now, watch Drew in action as he made this great speech yesterday:

Is it just me, or do you think the Saints and the Colts have suffered from a severe case of approach anxiety? I mean, can you imagine waiting two weeks for the big game?

A lot of you guys see a woman, you can’t approach her and five minutes later she is gone. All the while that five minutes feels like two weeks to you.

Can you imagine the amount of anxiety that builds up over an actual two week period? Can you imagine during a period of two weeks how many scenarios you go through in your mind, how much game films you watch and how much over-analyzing you do?

A friend of mine played in the Super Bowl one year, and he said he didn’t even realize that he was actually there until the second quarter. The surreal feeling of being there was that overwhelming.

It’s kind of like getting all jazzed for that big New Year’s Eve party, only to get there and not be able to participate in the way you wanted. You knew I would turn this blog into one about mindset somehow, right?

So which team is going to win today? The team that will win today is the one that does not get into their head.

It’s the team that stays focused after a turnover. It’s the team that doesn’t second guess a play. It’s the team that doesn’t come in with a conservative game plan just because it’s the Super Bowl. Everything is magnified today — every missed field goal, every sack, and every interception.

It’s like someone telling you that you have four hours to get laid, but you’ve never even had a one-night stand before. As the clock ticks and you’re in the second half of your four hour deadline not even having approached a woman yet, each minute becomes more critical and each conversation becomes more pressure-filled.

The winner of the game will feel no pressure. Wait, I take that back. That team will feel the pressure, but they won’t let it bother them.

Football is all mental. Someone is going to get into the head of another player. Someone is going to blitz Brees and put some doubt into his mind. I’ve seen people try to do it to Peyton Manning, but it never works.

Someone is going to fumble as their team is driving towards a score. Someone is going to drop an easy pass over the middle that would have given them a badly-needed first down. The team that wins, though, is the one who forgets the interception, the missed tackle and the punt.

Do you see a theme here?

How many of you forget about a missed opportunity? How many of you get blown off by a woman you approach and are able to get over it immediately?

The team that wins today will be the one that has a short memory. Notice, too, that I say team.

Manning may get two interceptions today. Wayne may get hit and knocked to the ground. What they both will do if those things happen is forget about them and make adjustments in the next play.

I want all of you to watch the game and realize that it is not really a game just of skill. It is, in large part, a game all about mindset.

So how is the game going to end today? What will be happening when the clock runs out at the end of the fourth quarter?

It is going to end with one quarterback going to Disney World, and the other quarterback going through hell. One quarterback is going to get an ugly, oversized Cadillac, while the other one will have to be interviewed by ESPN with his hair soaking wet and that dejected look on his face.

Which team is going to win? Is it going to be Manning or Brees? Here is who is not going to win: Brett Favre or Mark Sanchez.

The Saints can win if they play a perfect game. Sean Payton has to call the perfect game, something he hasn’t done on numerous occasions this year. He tends to get frozen and conservative at times.

As for Jim Caldwell, he’s just the guy who stands on the sidelines. The real coach of that team is Peyton Manning. That is no knock on Jim Caldwell at all. Peyton Manning is just a genius.

My heart wants the Saints to win, because my love is from New Orleans. My brain and all my years watching football, however, tell me that no one is beating Manning and the Colts today.

Sometimes, though, the heart can really out-do the brain. So I am going to go out on a limb and predict that the the Saints will score 30, while Manning and the Colts will score 27.

I will, however, say this (and I feel a little like Shannon Sharpe here): The game can easily end up with the Colts beating the Saints with a score of 41-21. Having said that, I am going to predict that after 40 years in the NFL, the New Orleans Saints are due.

I may be right or I may be wrong, but in life it really doesn’t matter. It’s all about going with your heart. That is today’s lesson.

Today’s blog will be about how we make fantasies in our heads about others, and how we judge people nonstop. On the eve of the NFL Playoffs, I want to share this story with all of you:

1968 AFL Title Game: New York Jets 27—Oakland 23

“Six weeks earlier, the Raiders triumphed in the classic “Heidi Bowl” game. Now the Jets and Raiders would play a rematch in the AFL championship game, the biggest game in the young career of football’s most famous and highly paid player: Joe Willie Namath. The crushing pressure on Namath had really gotten to him by the eve of the game. So how did he deal with it? How else? He went to his bar, “grabbed a girl and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red and went to the Summit Hotel and stayed in the bed the whole night with the girl and the bottle.” The next morning, about five hours before game time, an off-duty police officer stood at a crosswalk and saw Broadway Joe with a girl on one arm and whiskey bottle in his free hand.

Namath looked tired, messy and drunk. The cop knew what he had to do–he “raced to the closest sportsbook he could find and bet everything on the Raiders.” And how’d that work out for him? Well, in a seesaw game Joe Willie played through his hangover and tossed three touchdowns, the final one coming when he hit Don Maynard for a 6-yard touchdown with 7:47. Jets up 27-23. Still, plenty of time remained for a Raiders comeback and Daryle Lamonica, who threw for 401 yards on the day, used that time to drive his team to the New York 12 with just over two minutes remaining. Now it was time for a special play, a play the Raiders had worked on all week for just this type of situation: a quick screen to Charlie Smith. Lamonica blew it though; he floated the ball over Smith’s head for an incompletion. Or rather, Lamonica threw what appeared to be an incompletion. In fact it was a lateral, not a pass, meaning the play was still alive. Unfortunately, the only people on the field who realized this wore Kelly green not silver and black. The Raiders stood there flatfooted while Jets linebacker Ralph Baker scooped up the ball and clinched the game for the Jets. The next week, the Jets, not the Raiders, made football history by shocking the Colts and winning the AFL’s first Super Bowl.*”

I remember that play. It was great!!! This story demonstrates something else that is so true.

Namath was drunk, hungover and got laid before the game . . . and he still made it into the Hall Of Fame. Now a guy does steroids or smokes some weed, and he can’t get elected into the Hall Of Fame.

Give me a break. It shows what geeks most sports writers are, and how much they really wish they could hook up with the girl.

It’s funny. It is their dream to be able to hook up with the “hottie,” drink all night and then lead their team into the Super Bowl. It’s the little boy fantasy in all of them.

Now with today’s bullshit double standards, a player could do what Namath did and it would be fine. If someone shoots steroids trying to maintain his body, however, he is banished.

Why? It’s not part of that little boy fantasy of banging the hot woman before the big game (and, in reality, we are all just little boys).

What if Bonds had a hot woman inject the steroids and then he banged her all night long? Do you think the geeky sportswriters would have voted him in after they heard how sexually satisfied she was and how many orgasms she had?

Think about that. We spend so much time emulating others and creating fantasies in our head that we think are so cool, that through that process we actually judge others. We judge them without even thinking about why they do things.

To top it off, an athlete can get drunk and bang hookers all night long (which is illegal), and he will be described in the press as a “cool partier” and ultimately make the Hall of Fame. Prostitution is illegal. Steroids were not.

It all, however, comes down to the little boy and his fantasy of being the sports star (or rock star). Namath was both.

So my blog today is about this, but also about a deeper question. I think we need to ask ourselves why we look up to some people and judge others.

(*Story quoted from: http://miamimigraine.blogspot.com/2007/05/toughest-raider-losses-part-iv.html)

What a game yesterday. My thoughts on the game and how it impacts your life will be posted tomorrow.

I had an interesting talk with a client this morning and thought i would write it up for you guys.

David:	Stop thinking about the future! The future is not right now.

We hear this all the time, but let me tell all of you this right now: if I could predict the future, you would not be sitting here with me right now. If I could predict the future, do you think I’d be spending this time coaching you guys?

I’d probably take my girlfriend and my dog with me and we’d go surfing on my own private little island. I heard Marlon Brando’s island is going to be up for sale eventually – maybe I’d buy that.

If I could predict the future, I would predict the winning numbers in the lottery. I would tell you the Steelers would win the Super Bowl and I would have put all of my money on it. I would tell you which stocks would rise during Obama’s presidency. If I could predict the future, there are so many different things I would do. But I can’t!

The only thing in life that we have the power to do is to remain present. That is it. We have no other powers.

So if there is a woman that you really want to get to know and you’re thinking about how to somehow swing her in your direction, you’re not really being present. You’re just thinking about how to get her to come to you, instead of really just having a great time. If you’re having a really great time and she starts to see you that way, you’re going to create attraction.

If you’re really enjoying the company of her friends, she’ll start to see you in that way. That’s how women look at things. But instead, you’re just thinking about the future. You’re not even thinking about that day. You could all be just hanging out at a bar on a Saturday night, but you’re not really there. You’re only thinking about how you can manipulate the situation and change the future.

The fact is that the future is not now – the present is now. Stay focused and stay present to what is going on in the moment. It takes a lot of work to truly stay focused in the present.

Client:	Is there something that you can do to really work on that? I feel like I can’t really control it on my own.

David:	You’re doing it right now – you’re listening to me. You’re listening intently to every word that comes out of my mouth. For the last few minutes, you listened to every word I said, and then you asked a question based on what you heard. And you did it with authority and conviction in your voice. You weren’t nervous, and you did it from your heart. I could see that it came from your heart, and I could see who you are as a person.

So that’s how you do it. You just listen. If you’re outcome-derived, or you expect something from somebody, then it’s not going to happen. You’re just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Don’t expect anything from anybody. If you do, you’ll set yourself up to be disappointed. Why should you be disappointed? Life is an amazing ride. Enjoy it. Enjoy the entire process.

On Super Bowl Sunday, a day full of male bonding and macho actions.

I thought we could tackle a sensitive topic, one that would cause no end zone celebrations or high fives.

A topic that no one sitting in front of the TV watching the Steelers shave the Cards by 10 would ever mention.

So when you dip your chips today keep in mind about a dip that may not happen later.

Have you ever had whiskey dick – without alcohol?

You start fooling around with a woman, you get naked, and then you just can’t get hard at all?

You can’t figure out why either. You think to yourself, what is it? Am I impotent? Do I need Viagra? Do I need Cialis – so it’s ready when I’m ready? What is wrong with me?

You know what? It happens to all of us.

Sometimes when you get alcohol-free whisky dick it’s because you don’t actually have any emotional connection with her.

A lot of women think that men are just pump and dumpers. They think that men are just into getting laid, but a lot of us are really quite sensitive!

And many of us can’t have sex just for the sake of having sex. We have to have a connection with the other person.

I’ve had nights with alcohol-free whisky dick. If my dick isn’t working, it’s basically telling me, hey man, we really don’t like this woman that much. We like her, we think she’s cool, but we’re really not all that connected with her.

So if you have alcohol-free whisky dick, it’s not necessarily that something is wrong with your dick, but it does mean that you’re probably more emotionally evolved than you thought you were!
