Summer is ending folks, it’s time to take advantage of the last few days of beautiful summer weather! Two days from now, its fall and then you will be counting the good days left, unless of course you live in a warm climate.

This morning, I was walking down the street with my dog Daphne. It’s simply an absolutely beautiful day today, and we’re just walking down the street and I just started talking to people. When you let the weather and the environment inspire you, you get in the most interesting conversations.

So many people don’t take advantage of the beautiful days of summer and they spend all this time not talking to people and spending all this time at home. Were you one of those people this summer?

If you were, you need to start getting into more conversations. Ask people if they’re enjoying the great weather as much as you are. Relax. Go to a cafe. Sit outside and bring your work to the cafe with you. If you get stuck in traffic, roll your window down, smile and wave to the person stuck in traffic next to you. Yell something fun and lighthearted over to them, be playful have fun and keep in mind the weather is going to turn cold soon and you will wish that you took advantage of the great weather.

We were talking about movies and they were talking about "Transformers."

We were talking about movies and they were talking about “Transformers.” I was saying, I just don’t like movies with such really bad special effects, I like movies with real special effects. To me the only movies out there with real special effects are romance movies.

Think about it, you go, you meet somebody, you got some conflict, and then all of a sudden everything works out perfectly. Everybody says I’m sorry, everything works out great. That to me, those are real special effects, because real relationships are never like movie relationships at all.

Real relationships are torturous, they’re hell, they’re crazy. One party never says sorry, the other one does say sorry. The fights, they’re so different. Movie fights they’re great, movie conflicts are easy. You always know at the end that the couple is going to fall in love and everything is going to be perfect. Those to me are real special effects.

Best Date Movies

I want a movie relationship. I think movie relationships are a lot of fun. In two hours you go through a wide range of emotion and then you know that the person you’re supposed to be with is that person. In real life you go through a wide range of emotions and you can get tortured for two, three, four years.

Anyway, the real issue of this whole thing is, I just don’t like movies with special effects. I’m just not a dude that way, never really liked “Transformers” or “Iron Man.” I don’t like 10 minute fight scenes in my movies, it’s just not who I am.

So what’s your favorite summer movie of all time? Which one creates the most amount of memory for you? Except “Jaws.” This poll doesn’t include “Jaws,” and for you younger generation that looks at the special effects in “Jaws” and think it’s bad, I say it’s imagination. So share with us today what your favorite summertime movie is.

It’s so different as an adult. I mean sure, the weather’s nice and stuff like that, and I appreciate that, but I live in Los Angeles. The weather is pretty much nice all the time.

I miss those fun summer memories. Those really cool times when you played kick the can or capture the flag until 9 at night. I remember when I was a kid, I used to go to sleep in the summertime, and it would be light, and my mom would tell me to go to bed.

And I thought to myself, I could be out there playing. My bedtime was 8 at night, but yet it was still light until it was 9.

Summer Dates

One of my favorite summertime memories was when the ocean got warmer because I lived on the East Coast and grew up in New York. The ocean would get warmer and each day, and I’d be able to spend a little longer in the water and a little longer in the water. Summers to me were about so many great amazing memories.

Have any of you created a new memory this summer that you just will always look back upon and remember the summer of 2011 as that summer that you did that new special thing? Share with me today some of your new summer memories. Look forward to hearing what you’ve got or plan to do.

Do you remember when you were a kid and you used to count down the days until school was out for summer vacation? It started to get warm, and you would start to get excited.

Do you remember when you were a kid and you used to count down the days until school was out for summer vacation? It started to get warm, and you would start to get excited.

You had all these big plans for summer, whether you were a young kid looking forward to day camp or whether you were a teenager looking forward to summer camp or to college. Whether you were going to work as a lifeguard at the neighborhood pool or you were just going have so much fun hanging out with your friends, you just couldn’t wait for that three-and-a-half-month summer vacation.

Summer used to be such magic. The anticipation and the feeling that you felt every day was special. No school. Going to bed later. All of it.

When I was in the third grade, we spent the summer out in The Hamptons. It was beautiful. I remember Gregory Seltzer and I running around and swimming all day long. We used to go deep into the ocean. I remember what it felt like deep into the ocean at that stage in my life.

I remember swimming out there, and then running back on the beach to make a beard in the sand. Then I’d shave my sand beard with a clamshell. Now, as an adult, I can’t stand shaving. I wish I never had to shave.

I remember all the magic. I remember all the traditions we had.

I would also go away to summer camp and spend almost the whole summer with friends there. It was so much fun. Then I’d come back, and we’d spend time as a family in The Hamptons.

My Grandmother had a house out in Hamptons Bay. It was on the water and absolutely beautiful. At the end of the summer, we used to go to go there.

The very last night we would have a lobster dinner. I remember picking up the lobsters at Tully’s, a seafood store in Hampton Bays, and all the anticipation about that dinner — cracking them open and sitting down to that last big dinner before going back to school.

I would sit there and wonder (now, please don’t laugh) if I would be the tannest or blondest kid in school on the first day. I was always working on my tan or letting my hair bleach out from the sun.

Summers used to be so carefree. Now as adults, what do we do?

We take a week off — maybe two — and that’s it. The rest of the time, we work.

Summer nights aren’t magic anymore. We need to recapture that feeling that we had as a kid.

What is your favorite summer memory? What is your most incredible summer memory? How can you get back that magic?

Wouldn’t it be great if your boss let you out of work every single day at 3:00pm just because it was summertime? What if everyone’s boss let them out of work at 3:00pm every day of summer, and everyone could go out and play tag? Maybe you could go out and have a color war like you did at camp, or go to the neighborhood pool and play Marco Polo.

Maybe we should institute that. Maybe I should ask President Obama and Congress to make that a law, i.e., that in July and August all businesses must close at 3:00 pm so that all adults can act like kids again.

Why do we need to be so old? Why do we need to act like adults? Why can’t summer be magical like it once was?

As I’m writing this blog on a Monday sitting with my wife in Palm Springs, I am realizing how amazing summer truly is. I want to have that amazing summer feeling back that I had when I was a kid. So I think if we all get together and maybe sign some type of petition to enact that 3:00pm summer rule, that we can get that magical summer feeling back.

For those of you who are single, imagine all the great dates you can go on if we get this 3:00pm summer law passed. Imagine all the amazing people you can meet when go to the adult summer camp at 3:00pm after work, and get to go on a “social.”

I remember socials at summer camp. They were so much fun. Boys on one side and girls on the other. It was so much easier than speed dating.

Anyway, I think we should pass this blog on to President Obama and see what he can do to make this 3:00pm summer law happen. I think this could be something that could really work!

So it’s summertime, and guys always want to know – even women want to know – how the hell do you meet people on the beach? There’s a couple of different ways to meet people on the beach.

So it’s summertime, and guys always want to know – even women want to know – how the hell do you meet people on the beach?

There’s a couple of different ways to meet people on the beach. One of the best ways to do so – and you can do this on the lake too – the only place you can’t do this is at a pool.

So if someone is sitting there on a blanket, of course, you sit down next to him or her. You put your blanket down next to theirs, and you do the old, “oh man, I forgot my sunscreen. Can I borrow some?” This is always a great way to open up somebody.

Another good way to do it is to bring some Frisbees, balls, and other things, and have a Frisbee toss with your buddy. Of course, let the Frisbee fall onto their blanket – or near their blanket, don’t hit them on the head or anything! But let it fall directly near their blanket, and then look at them and say, “oh man, my buddy has a bad arm. Could you do me a favor and whip it back at him?”

Get them engaged in the game. People come to the beach to have a good time, so get them engaged in the game.

Another thing to do, which I love, is go down in the water and put your toes in the water. Of course the water will be a little on the chilly side in the beginning of the summer, and if a woman walks up to the tip of the water, you look at her and say, “alright, I’ll race you in! Winner buys the lemonade. Ready? One, two, three,” and make it a game. Start running in a little bit and look at her, and if she hasn’t started running, turn back and say, “aw, come on, what are you, chicken?”

Play a game. Be like a little kid going to the beach. “What are you, chicken? Come on, I dare you. Let’s go. I’ll give you a head start.” Have some fun with it. You race them into the water; you have a little bit of fun.

One of my favorite things to do at the beach is go to the store and buy a bucket full of little kid stuff. Buy a shovel, a rake, buy some animal figures to create sand monsters; buy different sized buckets to create sand castles. Go to the edge of the water, pour all of your toys out, and start building a sand castle.

You want to see people gravitate over to you? Give each person a task. The minute a woman looks at you, you say, “alright, fine, you’re going to be the Block Girl.” “Alright, fine, you work the rake.” “You build the moat.” It’s about having fun. Everything is about really having fun and doing something different.

Another way I really like to meet people at the beach is by going to a store that has really fun beach towels. Maybe they have a Spongebob beach towel, or a Smurfs beach towel, or whatever it is. Get the biggest, funniest beach towel you can possibly have. Get two of them, actually, and spread them out on the beach, and use them as your towel.

Now you have something to talk about. A woman walks by, and she looks at you and says, “Spongebob, man, what are you? Ten years old?” You can say, “it’s the beach, come on! It’s about having fun and being a child again!” It’s just about lightening up. It’s the summertime, and you can just have a good time.

Another thing you can do is bring a cooler full of water, and you can basically have extra water for people. So when some one walks by you, you can offer them some water. They look in your cooler, and you can say, “hey do you want a bottle of water? I’ll give it to you for a buck. I’ll charge you a buck for that!”

It’s about having fun. Everything is about being different; everything is about having fun. Everything is about being unique. So stop being so uptight and have a good time at the beach!

Last night was one of the most exciting nights I’ve ever had in my life. You’re not going to believe what happened to me.

I bowled a 205!

I know what you’re thinking right now. I have a herniated disc. Is that what it takes to bowl a 205 — to herniate your disc and be put on steroids?

Before you think I spent last night at a bowling alley drinking beer and hanging out in a room full of guys wearing wifebeaters, let me set you straight. I was bowling on a Nintendo Wii.

It was the first time I’d used it. My girlfriend got it for me for Christmas, and it took me six months to get it set up.

According to her, I apparently said sometime I didn’t want that present (although I don’t remember ever saying that). So with my birthday coming up in a few weeks, I figured I’d better get the Christmas present set up before the birthday presents arrived.

Last night my girlfriend thought I didn’t want my birthday surprise, because when we had been walking by a jewelry store I said I didn’t want a money clip we saw in the window. I had the wrong surprise, though, and so now I am walking around all day saying “I want the money clip! I want the money clip!”

Also, before I forget, I need to thank Todd from the blog for the iPhone. Todd and I made a trade. Todd is giving me his old iPhone and I hooked him up with some great stuff.

I still, however, need one more iPhone . . . because it wouldn’t be fair if Daphne didn’t have one too. So I need one. I am willing to do potentially a lot to get it, except switch to AT&T. I really don’t need any rollover minutes; I prefer to roll over in bed.

So here’s the deal. If you have an old iPhone, let’s make a deal! I will be posting the fact that I need an iPhone on the blog until I get one. Need a date? Let’s make a deal. Maybe I’ll let you borrow Daphne for a month to serve as your constant prop and girl-attracting conversation starter. You never know . . . let’s make a deal!

Today’s blog stemmed from something I was thinking about as I was on the beach the morning with Daphne. I got up at 7:45 am this morning because one of Sonja’s instructors at her studio didn’t show up and she had to go fill in and teach the class.

So I got up this Saturday June morning with a Boom Boom in my eye (oops, that’s The Sopranos). As I stood on the beach with summer just about here, I decided to talk about something that is really going to make you think.

It’s going to be short and to the point. I’m going to get you to think about whether you suffer from weekend expectations . . . and, specifically, summer weekend expectations.

Now that it’s summer, are you putting all your eggs in one beach basket? Do you have summer weekend expectations?

Summer is about 90 days long. Are you one of those people who worked really hard to take off a few pounds so that you would look good for the summer? Did you do that because you thought that summer was the season you’d be able to meet someone?

Do you think that every summer occasion is a potential watershed moment in your dating life? Every barbecue, beach party and picnic is potentially THE one you are going to have that life-transforming moment? Do you make summer vacation plans with the same thoughts in your head?

The truth is that summer does not change your mindset. You were brainwashed as a kid. Summer would start, signaling the end of multiplication tables and the beginning of playing kick the can until 9:00 every night. Some of us spoiled kids got to go to summer camp and play with other spoiled kids all day and all night.

Really, though, summer is not like when we were kids. It’s no longer about the expectation of our first kiss and playing day and night, because as kids we didn’t have all the adult fears and excuses.

I’m not trying to poo-poo your summer. I’m trying to give you a little reality here.

Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean your belief system has changed. It’s not like the thermometer automatically warms up your mindset or your attitude. You still have your same shit. It doesn’t just “go away” with the changing of the seasons.

So if you think that summer is going to magically change how you look at things and how things are done, then you need to look at the inside instead of the outside. The beliefs you hold are all on the inside, and they come with you to every barbecue, beach party and picnic.

Personally I miss summer as a kid. I had my first girlfriend in the summer. She was one of my first crushes. She had the coolest name too: Summer. I dated Summer in the summer. I called her “my Double Summer.”

Back to the present and it’s “June Gloom” time of the year here in Los Angeles. I live on a beach and can’t swim in the ocean because it’s polluted.

Do you know what though? It’s always summer in my mind, and I’m always enjoying my life. I don’t need a five day forecast or to be invited to the coolest barbecue, because the party is always going on in my mind and life is always amazing.

Have a great June Saturday!

Oh, and one more thing. The new iPhones come out any day now. So remember to get in touch with me if you want to part with your old one!

I've been going to an acupuncturist to help with my lower back pain. I went yesterday and, right as I was LEAVING, it happened . . . I sneezed! I don't know what was behind that sneeze, but right after it happened my back went out totally.

I’ve been going to an acupuncturist to help with my lower back pain. I went yesterday and, right as I was LEAVING, it happened . . . I sneezed! I don’t know what was behind that sneeze, but right after it happened my back went out totally.

So now here I am on this beautiful Memorial Day weekend, layed out and miserable in about as much back pain as I can ever remember experiencing. I have so much pain in my right hip that I can’t put any pressure on my leg, so when I do get up and walk I end up looking like a cross between Cro-Magnum Man and one of the Sleezestack people from the new Land Of The Lost movie.

Anyway, laying here indoors on this beautiful holiday weekend has me thinking about summer and summer days. It’s the Saturday of Memorial Weekend, the unofficial beginning to Summer. It’s the weekend you get to glimpse all the great stuff you’re going to get to do all summer, and all the stuff you haven’t been able to do while you were suffering through that long Winter.

It also tends to make you think back on all the great summers you’ve had in your life, and all the great things you used to do that make Summer so much fun. I’ve talked about this before, but there are so many great things we all used to do on summer days.

People are always asking me about what makes for a great summer date. Do you know what the best summer dates are? You already do! Do something that you did when you were a kid.

I was thinking about some fun things I did as a kid. One of my favorites was that that we used to go in our backyard, pitch a tent and have a sleepover in the tent. Another favorite of mine was taking a pail and shovel to the beach and building sand castles.

Then there were the summer holiday festivities that were always so great. Watching 4th of July fireworks was always a highlight. Even better was bringing your own fireworks and setting them off with your friends.

Playing games with neighborhood kids — whether it was playing Ring, tag or a game of football – was always a blast. All the great barbecues where you’d have hot dogs and hamburgers off the grill was another of my favorite parts of every summer. Taking a great nighttime bike ride was always a great end to the day as well.

So now, on this Memorial Day weekend, why don’t you think about everything you used to enjoy doing in the summer as a kid. Think about how much fun summer was as a kid — running around, riding your bike and playing outside all day . . . until the streetlights came on signaling that it was time to come home.

Start thinking about all these great kid things you used to enjoy doing so much in the summer, and then start incorporating them into your adult life. Now that you’ve heard mine, why don’t you tell us some of your favorite summer memories.

What is your favorite summer memory as a kid?
What was your favorite thing to do in the summer as a kid?
What was your favorite summer time date when you were in high school?
What is your favorite high school date in the summer time or in college?

Let’s go back in time a little bit again, and let’s have some fun with Summer Days. It will hopefully help me take my mind off this pain I’m feeling today!

Enjoy the beginning of your Memorial Day weekend, and happy unofficial start of summer to you.

Do you know what the definition of an amazing day is?

What an amazing day so far.

Do you know what the definition of an amazing day is?

An amazing day is when you wake up past your alarm, which I did this morning.

It was an amazing morning because I woke up next to the woman that I love and then took Daphne for a walk on the beach. I am going to head back to the beach and do some cardio then off to buy a new beach cruiser bike.
What else am i going to do.

I have some errands to run and then tonight I am taking my girl to her favorite place to eat.

Its a Saturday and I am going to appreciate and enjoy every moment. I am going to engage people and enjoy conversations with strangers. I am going to ignore the blackberry and be 100% present where am it each step of the way.

It’s all about taking every single moment and appreciating it.

That’s the definition of a beautiful day: being able to appreciate every little thing around you. Appreciating every visual stimulus around you – from beautiful women to great friends to amazing trees, the ocean, everything! It’s about really taking it all in.

When you’re out there in your world, do you really take it all in? Do you take in every little bit of every single day? Do you really appreciate it and stay present in the moment?

You knew there was a lesson in this blog somewhere and the lesson is this: go out there and take in every little thing.

Count the stars in the sky. Look at the trees on the street. Take a look at the water that is around you. Look at the color of the sky. Look at everything that is around you.

Become observant in everything in your life. The more observant you become, the more that you’ll have to talk to people about. The more you can talk to people, the stronger your connections with them will be and the less time you will be stuck in your head.

Todays video is all about how to look your best on your amazing days.

I’m driving through Brentwood this morning – on one of those days I don’t particularly like. What I don’t particularly like is the heat.

I’m driving through Brentwood this morning – on one of those days I don’t particularly like. What I don’t particularly like is the heat. I would prefer to live in San Francisco year-round – a few days in the 80s thrown in to lots of days in the 60s and 50s – a mixture of all different types of weather.

But speaking of mixtures, life is a mixture. It’s really funny, because we all have this ideal. If you think about it, men have been masturbating to Maxim magazine models, Playboy centerfolds, Penthouse centerfolds since they were little boys and realized that something neat and fun actually comes out of their own dick and makes them feel good!

So if you think about it, men have been fantasizing about these women for most of their lives. Now what have women been doing? They don’t have a dick, but they do masturbate, as we all know. Women have been fantasizing about that 6’2” guy – the one from the Bride magazines, Sean Connery playing leading man roles, George Clooney, Brad Pitt.

That’s who they fantasize about – they fantasize about that tall, dark, and handsome man – how many times have you heard that? Tall, dark, and handsome.

Sex and the City even had an episode of tall, dark, and handsome. Mr. Big was what? Tall, dark, and handsome.

If you go on the internet, everybody has their ideal person there. Every woman wants a guy over 6’ tall, and every guy wants a woman who is fit and athletic.

The problem is that the world is not 6” tall and in great shape. And most women are not skinny and petite!

So you need to embrace your body – you need to look at your body, and you need to look at who you are, and you need to become the most powerful you within your own body. The fact is that if you’re a guy that’s 5’6”, and if you project your attitude, you project your voice, and you project confidence, a woman is going to see you as 6’ tall.

Maybe you’re not the ideal guy. But you are the ideal man. Think about it: she’s got some fantasy guy in her head, and you walk over to her, and what happens is that most women spend their entire lives wanting to get swept off of their feet. Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome hasn’t swept them off of their feet yet, but if Mr. 5’6” with a killer personality and great confidence walks over and claims her – claims her like the woman she is, makes her feel sexy, makes her feel wanted and desired – all of a sudden she can be yours.

If you look at all of the women in the world, not every woman is dating tall, dark, and handsome men. Most of them are dating just average guys who had the confidence and the balls to approach her, and the confidence and balls to really go over there and talk.

When it comes down to men, all of us are not going to be dating Maxim magazine models. It’s just not going to happen. It sounds great in theory. If there was a factory somewhere abroad that FedEx shipped them over by the dozens – absolutely gorgeous women all of the time – that’d be great.

But the fact is that you have to embrace who you are every single day, and become the most powerful version of yourself. If you’re not the most powerful version of yourself, you won’t be able to sweep anybody off of their feet.

Forget about the fantasy. All of the women on the internet – all of you that are so narrow minded and you bitch and complain that men are narrow minded – women are so narrow minded on the internet it’s incredible. All they talk about is wanting this perfect guy.

Just the other day I was reading this internet profile from a woman who was 39 years old. 39! She wants three kids, and the guy has to be aged 36 to 39. Hello? Can we say, fantasy?

Now let’s talk about reality. Reality in this situation is the she’s probably not going to get that. She’s probably going to get something else, and you have to realize that what you’re about, and what you project is what you will attract.

So if you are narrow minded in your search, and you’re not open to things, you will never be able to meet somebody who will blow you away.

Lets talk about how to get out of your head. Do you worry about every little thing and what others think of you?

Todays video will break you out of your fears forever.
