So the other night after getting out of a massage, I went to grab some dinner to take home at a nearby restaurant. It was a cute and quiet little vegan restaurant that a lot of people go to on a date. It’s one of those places that have only about seven tables in the whole restaurant, so it’s a great place to bring a date.

The question I always get all the time is where do you go on a first date.
I’ll tell you where you don’t go. You don’t go to a movie, you don’t sit there in silence, wondering what she’s thinking, who she is, and feeling all uncomfortable wondering what to say after the movie.

I’m a firm believer that whoever asks someone out on a date, should pay for that date. If you’re a woman and you ask a guy out on a date, then you pay for that date. It’s 2010. Pay for the date. You asked him out. He didn’t ask you out, so he doesn’t need to pay. Now I’m sure that there are women reading this right now thinking, “Wait a second. Men are always supposed to pay for the first date.”

Congratulations, man. I’m so glad that you hooked up! You’ve got a great date coming up. So, what are you going to do? Are you going to do the “same old same old” first date of going out to dinner where you watch each other chew across the table, swap resumes and then end the night wondering whether you should kiss her? To me…

It’s funny, I was on an airplane recently and they play episodes of television shows. They play shows that you never really watched (but that maybe you would have watched if you spent all your nights home watching television — which none of you should be doing if you are trying to meet people). Anyway, during that flight I caught a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother. There was something great on one of those episodes that was very funny. I would love to take credit for the idea, but of course I can’t.

How many times have you gone on a date with a woman, and the minute she walks in the room you think to yourself, “Man, I love the way she walks. I love the way she moves?”
