You know, we've come up with some really funny dialing terminology nowadays.
Everyone knows about "drunk texting." There you are out drinking, and all of a sudden that person you used to date or that person you slept with a few times crosses your mind. So you send them a text. You've got to love drunk texting.

Everyone knows about “drunk texting.” There you are out drinking, and all of a sudden that person you used to date or that person you slept with a few times crosses your mind. So you send them a text. You’ve got to love drunk texting.

Another funny term is “butt dialing.” How many times have you been butt-dialed by people? Butt dialing is when your phone is in your back pocket, and for some odd reason the screen doesn’t lock and you call someone from inside your back pocket by accident.

It always seems, though, that you will end up butt dialing people to whom you don’t really want to talk. Sometime you butt dial someone who called you earlier that day, and they think you are actually calling them back. You’ve got to love butt dialing.

To me, butt dialing might be the best new terminology I’ve heard in a long time. I mean, you have to be careful who you butt dial — and what your butt has to say when it calls, because you never know how talkative your butt might be feeling.

What other new terminology can we think of here? How about “pocket dialing?” That’s about the same thing as butt dialing. There is also “purse dialing,” which is also about the same thing as butt dialing — just the female version.

So what other forms of dialing can we think of to talk about here? There used to be *67 and *69. One of them called the last number that called you I think. The other blocked your number when you made a call.

Man, nowadays there are just so many different ways of dialing people. So what kind of dialing and dialing terminology do you love? Also, tell me how you know when you are on the receiving end of one of these dialing situations.

Take me back. Do you remember that song?

Anyway, there was something interesting I was thinking about the other day. I was thinking about how all of us have three hands. We have two hands with which we are born, and a third hand called a cell phone that we purchase from T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T or Verizon.

Sometimes that third hand really ruins conversations and connection with other people. It also causes that really annoying feeling you get when you’re hanging out with someone and they are constantly responding to their phone.

In life, we don’t always need to get back to people right away. Go back ten or fifteen years when we had cell phones with unlimited minutes and which didn’t have email capabilities. Back then, you weren’t able to return an email or check your voicemail every minute of the day.

Do you remember the days when we weren’t texting people in restaurants, and we actually paid attention to the person across the table from us? Remember when we didn’t feel the need to immediately get back to the person on the other end of a text?

Do you remember the days when we used to have an office, and we used to check and return messages just while we were there? We didn’t feel the need to get back to someone at 10:00 pm on a Friday.

We need to disconnect from our cell phones just a little bit, because it’s starting to kill intimacy between between people. It’s starting to kill moments.

I personally find it really offensive when I am out with someone, and they look at and respond to messages on their cell phone. It makes me think, “What about me? I’m here. My time is definitely worth something. Why can’t you give me the time that I need right now? Why do I need to watch you get back to somebody?”

We’ve become a society that has to answer people right away for no reason at all. Pay attention to the person in front of you. The other person will just have to wait like the good old days for an answer.

I’m always talking about the power of the network – and no, not the one on the Verizon commercial. I don’t even use Verizon – I use T-Mobile. Why? Because I just happen to like having five friends show up all of the time on the home screen of my phone!

Not only that, but Verizon has the WORST rates when you travel internationally. When I’m traveling abroad, the last thing I want to do is roam on some ridiculous network when T-Mobile is worldwide.

But this blog is not about cell phone service – if it were, I would talk about the new, cool, exciting phones that have just come out and why I don’t have an iPhone. Do you know why I don’t use the iPhone? Because I can use my BlackBerry Pearl and type on it with one hand – I get 400 emails a day – and I can whip right through them.

If I had the iPhone, I’d have to dance around with my pointer finger and try to find everything. I like the fact that it has really fun little graphics, but I sit in front of my 24” Mac all day – I don’t need to be on the internet while I’m driving!

Then again, sitting in LA traffic is so bad, I could probably use the time to be on the internet, but I’d rather be cursing at the people in front and to the sides of me who are staring and almost running into me.

But this blog is neither about bad driving or the power of your cell phone network – or, as they say globally, your mobile.

This blog is about the power of your personal network.

Stop for a second and think about your network: who do you know? If an emergency came up, who do you know? Are there doctors in your network? Do you have doctors as friends that you can call up and get their medical opinion – without having to wait for an appointment?

Do you have a veterinarian friend that you can call up when there is something wrong with your dog? Someone you can trust? Someone who won’t charge you $80 a visit to find out that it was nothing but common diarrhea?

What about clothing and fashion? Do you know people that work in the stores you shop in? Do you know people that call you when something good comes in that would be perfect for you?

Do get deals? When you go out at night, do you get a free drink or appetizer because you are just a great person that connects with people? Do you know people in all different places?

How about when you go buy a car? Instead of getting red-penned to death by the salesclerk – going back and forth bargaining – can you walk into a car dealership and get a low, rock bottom price just because you know people there and you’re respected?

	How big is your network?

What about when you go to the airport – they only have one seat left in first class and you’re out of certificates – but because you got friendly with the person behind the counter, they slide you into the seat with no questions asked (and no extra charges?)

What about when you check into a hotel that you’ve been to before? Do they remember you and upgrade you to a suite just because you remembered to ask about their dog or their cousin that was about to get married?

How big is your network? All of the time that you spend chasing the opposite sex – are you attracting people into the power of your network? Are you expanding your social circles?

Are you becoming a more powerful person, or are you just walking around trying to validate yourself by meeting people of the opposite sex?

My network is huge. I just had a question about this cyst that Daphne has, called three people up in a span of five minutes and got an answer – through my network.

Next time you have something going on, who are you going to call?

Instead of chasing the opposite sex, learn to attract the opposite sex and attract a more powerful network by being a more powerful person!

Todays video is all about how to overcome approach anxiety forever!!

Its Saturday time to become a tourist in your own town.
