Do you have a don’t-quit attitude?

Do you truly believe that no matter what you do, how many times you try, how many times you fail, that you will always succeed, in the end?

Last week, Sonja and I were watching the Jets beat Minnesota 29-20. I’m a huge Jet fan as all of you know, huge Brett Favre fan.

It was a boring game in the beginning, both teams slugging it out, really not much of anything going on. Jets should have been more up at the half than they were — they were up 9-0 at halftime — but they just couldn’t score, they couldn’t put the Vikings away. In the second half, Brett Favre — 41 years old, broken bones everywhere; he looks like a bag of bones when he’s back there — limping, elbow tendinitis… guy is a warrior — rallied the Vikings back to within a few points. He threw three touchdowns, and would not quit. So the Jets marched down the field and silenced the Vikings. They scored what looked like the game winning touchdown. They were up by a few points again. But Brett Favre never quits. He marched them right back down the field and came within a few points, again. The Jets couldn’t put the Vikings away, but what happened next? Brett Favre, with his don’t-quit attitude, threw an interception, the Jets ran it in, and the game was pretty much over at that point.

The bottom line is, in sports, two teams will fight to the end, the better team usually wins, and the one that never quits never ever looks at their mistakes. A quarterback throws an interception, and he thinks to himself, “Man, that was embarrassing — I just did that in front of 75,000 people… 75,000!” He goes back out the next series and doesn’t think anything of it. He leads his team down the field, and what happens; they get a touchdown and they win the game.

Do you ever feel like Fireman Ed is leading a cheer against you?

Let’s say, in life, you have a big sales presentation, and it doesn’t work. You don’t close the deal, you’re obsessed with it for three weeks; thinking about every mistake you made and what you could have done. Or, say you’re a man and you see a woman standing there in the supermarket, or in the elevator, and you want to talk to her, but instead you spit out some words and the woman doesn’t respond. You can get this in your head, and for the next few weeks, you end up thinking about all the things you could have done, or what you did wrong.

That’s not having a killer attitude in life. You go out on a date, and it’s not a great date and the person doesn’t call you back. What do you do next? You think about what you did wrong. You even call your friends, and they become the assistant coaches of your life, and you recap the entire date; could I have done this, should I have said that? Should’ve, would’ve, could’ve. Athletes don’t do that, ever. Sports teams don’t do that, ever. But people do that all the time. And I know some of you are thinking right now – “But this is my emotional life. This is my livelihood.”

Hello! Is Brett Favre not emotionally invested in the game of football, is this not his livelihood? Is this not his passion, is this not who he is? Come on, folks! It’s just a date, it’s just an approach, it’s just a total stranger — get out there and start enjoying this process and start failing!

I remember I was coaching a woman a few years ago, and she says, “I really want to get married in the next year.” I said, “Do you have a date this week? If you have a date a week, 52 men a year, don’t you think you’ll meet somebody fantastic?” She says, Absolutely.” So what did she do? She went on 5.2 dates for the entire year because she was obsessed the other 49 weeks with what went wrong on the 5.2 dates.

Life is nothing more than a numbers game. You need to keep trying, and you need to develop that killer instinct. If you don’t develop the killer instinct, you’re not going to be able to find the person you want. Not only that, you’re just going to be obsessed with every little move you make… and that is not a method of success in business, in life or in sports.

Have you ever performed the "look away?" You know about the "look away," don't you?

Have you ever performed the “look away?” You know about the “look away,” don’t you?

You walk into a restaurant (or a market or wherever) and you see someone you know, someone you were maybe introduced to once or twice but really don’t know or have anything to say to them. You both look at each other, then you immediately both look away.

You look down at the ground. You pick something up. You pretend you didn’t see each other, even though you made direct eye contact with each other.

At that moment, to do the “look away” and walk away from that person is the best idea. That way you can avoid the awful idle small talk conversation with someone you really have no desire to talk to in the first place.

I just love those conversations. “Hey, how are you (like I really care)?” “I’m great, how are you (like I really care)?” We’ve all been through those awful conversations.

So, I think when two people do the “look away” with each other, they are doing it on purpose. If that person doesn’t come up and say anything to you, then you can both just look away and go!

It’s funny, because you’ll always tell somebody about it when a “look away” happens. You’ll come home and tell your significant other, “Hey, I say your friend today. I didn’t want to talk to them, so I looked away.”

I do it. You do it. We all do it.

We do the “look away” a lot. You do it and it’s actually fun.

It’s kind of social etiquette. The “look away” is probably one of the best things to do when you don’t want to waste your time with idle chit-chat with anybody.

So, now I want to hear from you. Have you done this recently, and how did it work for you?

And one last thing.

Jets 23 Vikings 17

And Favre may lose tonight but he will still get lucky with his young fling he has in NYC.

More of that funny story later in the week.

It's funny. I was just in Whole Foods filming a little undercover video for my Community Site members. In this undercover video, Will was basically going around the store talking to people and then I would critique it.

Here are my championship game predictions.

In the NFC, I am going to stick with my preseason prediction that the Saints will make it to the Super Bowl. The score? Saints 34, Vikings 24.

Sorry Favre, but the team you should have stuck with will actually be playing the Saints in the Super Bowl. How ironic is that?

So what I am about to say next probably isn’t too much of a mystery. The Jets will win in a last second field goal, and edge out the Colts 23-20.

How did they get into field goal range? Sanchez hits Edwards for 27 yards and Edwards actually holds on to the ball.

Now let’s move onto to some talk of interaction with some other famous people…

It’s funny. I was just in Whole Foods filming a little undercover video for my Community Site members. If you don’t know about my Community Site, you can find out more HERE.

In this undercover video, Will was basically going around the store talking to people and then I would critique it. It has actually been really fun to do these undercover videos with Will.

Me critiquing him has really helped him grow socially, and I enjoy doing it. Picture Peyton Manning breaking down the “x’s and o’s” of your game or Bill Belichick designing your defense (well maybe not this year).

Anyway, while we were on this undercover shoot, we ended up in line next to actress Michelle Rodriguez (from the tv show Lost and the movie Avatar). When I asked Will if he wanted to talk to her, he said “Why not? She is a person. I can open her and talk to her just like I would anyone else.”

So he did just that. She wasn’t really all that friendly, just like some “non-famous” people are just not that friendly. She did, however, acknowledge him and talk to him a little bit and even gave him a little half-ass smile.

It’s funny. So many people are infatuated and/or intimidated by people they want to meet — whether those people are celebrities or business people. It reminds me of something that happened back in 1997 when I was living in San Diego.

I saw Tony Robbins sitting in a cafe. Everyone in the cafe was staring at him.

I called up a guy I knew, told him about Tony Robbins was there and asked him what I should do. He immediately said, “Go talk to him. When else are you going to have an opportunity to talk to Tony Robbins? Remember, everyone likes talking about themselves. Just sit down and just tell him that you are in the same business and are really curious about how he got started.”

So, I did exactly that. I talked to Tony Robbins for 45 minutes. I had a great conversation with him, and learned a lot about how he got started in his business. By the end of the conversation, I realized that Tony Robbins and I were no different.

Celebrities are only celebrities because we put them in that “celebrity box” in our own minds. They are just regular folks who happen to be acting, running a corporation or playing a professional sport.

The bottom line is that everyone likes talking about themselves. So say you see a celebrity and say “Hi, how is your day going?” They are going to answer you.

At that moment you may feel like saying, “God, I saw you in that movie and it was phenomenal! Was that your favorite role you’ve ever played?” You should say it!

When you do, that person is immediately going to start talking. I’ve done it before.

You have to realize that the universe put you there — in that place and time — for a reason. As I talk about all the time in the blog, you can learn so much from strangers. So why not approach people and talk to them?

You never know. Some of you might actually end up dating a celebrity. We might end up reading about you in US Magazine.

Others of you might run into Donald Trump and start working for him. Who knows?

It’s all networking and growing your network. Just because someone is a celebrity, doesn’t mean they can’t be in your network and doesn’t mean you can’t join theirs.

So now, check out this video to see if Will is going to end up dating celebrity Michelle Rodriguez:

You waste tons of time thinking about the "right" time to call, thinking "Should I wait 72 hours so I don't look too anxious? Should I wait 24 hours, so I look not too anxious but look interested?"

I’ve been quiet for some time about something. My football picks have just . . . disappeared from the radar. So I figures with only a few weeks left in the regular season, I would start picking again before the playoffs hit.

So for this week, here is my list of winners and losers. . .

The Saints will continue on their unbeaten march heading toward the playoffs.

The Packers will put the Bears into hibernation mode.

The Colts will remain unbeaten as they collect a win against the Broncos.

The Bills versus the Chiefs? Who cares! I don’t need to waste time predicting that one.

The Bengals versus the Vikings is a tough one, but I will say the Bengals will prevail.

The Patriots will get their act together and defeat the Panthers.

Even with Mark Sanchez on the sidelines, the Jets can’t be that stupid as to lose to the Buccaneers.

The Dolphins / Jaguars game could be the game of the week. Miami is a lot better than people first thought, and I’m picking Miami to win this one.

Everybody can beat the Lions, so enough said about that game.

The Texans will finally wake up this week and beat the Seahawks, and they will finish the season 8-8.

The Titans will defeat the Rams.

The Raiders seem to be able to beat good teams, and the Redskins seem to be able to beat themselves. So who really cares who wins this one. I don’t.

It’s December, so Tony Romo is thinking about eating ribs and not about playing football. So I pick the Chargers to take that game.

The Eagles versus Giants game is a tough one to call, but I am going to predict that the Giants beat the Eagles today.

The Cardinals will continue their march toward another great season with a win today against the 49ers.

Now that you know what is going to happen in all of today’s NFL games, let’s move on to talk about today’s blog topic . . .

Please follow up with me. It’s amazing. I wrote a blog the other day about how I was recently looking for cars, and about how few people would follow up with me.

Follow up is the key to life. How you follow up is the key to everything in life. It is also the key in dating.

How many of the guys reading this get a phone number from a woman, and then actually sit there and wonder when you should call her? You waste tons of time thinking about the “right” time to call, thinking “Should I wait 72 hours so I don’t look too anxious? Should I wait 24 hours, so I look not too anxious but look interested?”

These questions focus completely on the wrong thing. The reality is that it is not about how long you wait to call someone, it is about what you say (and how you keep the intrigue and attraction going) when you do call.

So many guys spend way too much time thinking and focusing on things like how long to wait to call, instead of spending time understanding how to keep the attraction building. For example, when I was single I would go and meet a woman in the supermarket, ask her based on what was in her cart what she was making for dinner. If she told me she was trying a new recipe, then I’d wish her a great meal and tell her to let me know how it turns out.

I’d tell her, “Give me your number. I want to hear all about it.” I would then call her up, and I would continue the conversation we were having at that moment in the supermarket.

I would stay in that conversation, because I want to bring her back to that moment. I would call up and say something like, “Hey, how was dinner? That sushi looked so good. Was it as good as it looked?”

What you are doing there is showing that you were paying attention to all the details. That is what it’s all about.

It is about paying attention to all the details. People respond to people who remember things about them. That is how you form a connection with someone.

So to all you guys who waste all that time thinking about when to call a woman (instead of what to say to her), it’s time you change you focus and learn how to really connect with women.

That is something I talk about in great detail in my Men’s Mastery Series. I talk about how to remember details about women so you can have powerful connections that can last a long time.

I was going to set up a press conference today at Green Bay Packers’ headquarters, where I was going to stand in front of a podium and have my Brett Favre moment . . . complete with tears and regret. I was going to have Sonja stand behind me with her hand on my shoulder showing her support.

As some of you know, this was going to be my last year personally coaching Bootcamps. I have an amazing team of coaches who would have carried on for me brilliantly, and they will continue to do an amazing job coaching for me.

As for my decision to stop coaching Bootcamps myself at the end of this year, though, and as the NFL field judges say, upon further review I have changed my mind. No, not about how fantastic my coaches are, but about coaching the Bootcamps myself after the end of 2009.

It’s what I love to do. Not only that, I personally believe my Bootcamps are superior to all the garbage ones that are out there being taught by pretend wannabe experts.

So no retirement from coaching Bootcamps for me. The Bootcamps will move forward with me (and my team of coaches) coaching them in 2010, 2011, 2012 and beyond. It’s going to take a serious ACL injury to get me out of the Bootcamp coaching game.

For those of you who thought I was walking away from everything, I have just one question for you. Are you crazy? I’m not going anywhere (except maybe on a few trips next year).

There are, however, some great new things I’ll be coming out with next year and in the near future. We’re already kicking off some great new ideas.

Adam (my head instructor in London) and I have come up with an amazing seminar that will be taking place in London in a few weeks which is FREE. Click here to check it out.

For the women, we’re doing a killer seminar in Los Angeles this Sunday (November 8th). Click here to learn more about it.

For anyone who don’t know my team, I’ve hand-selected and personally trained every person who works with me. Not only have I personally trained them, but they all stand alone as amazing coaches. Your experience with any one of them would be just as satisfying as your experience would be with me.

My team and I plan on doing a lot of new programs next year. One of them is going to be an incredible inner mindset seminar. Details, of course, to follow next year…

We will also be launching a new live at home coaching program. That’s right — one of us will be spending two to seven nights on your sofa in the near future!

I’ve been doing this for 14 years. Brett Favre has been playing for 18 years. As long as he keeps throwing touchdown passes, I’m going to keep changing and affecting the lives of people who attend our workshops, seminars and Bootcamps.

Of course we’ll be coming out with a slew of new products, because as the dating world changes we are always ready to show you how to change with it!

So, mandatory retirement used to be at age 65. I plan on teaching a bunch of shuffle boarders in Florida the art of meeting hot sexy 80 year olds when I’m 80.

I will have the first and only geriatric pickup bootcamp in the history of the world.
I can see it now — my pants hiked up high to my chest leading around a bunch of guys who are all on arthritis medication who want to chase after some hot, sexy, experienced older women.

Thirty years from now, everyone who attends my geriatric Bootcamp will get a week’s worth of Cialis and Celebrex. Not only that, most of the people in my Bootcamp will have enlarged prostates, so I’ll have to give out something for that too. I can already see my Bootcamps in thirty years being sponsored by the pharmaceutical companies.

In the meantime, I’m young and healthy and ready to walk the next group of guys around at the the next Bootcamp. So this is the big announcement!

For those of you who were thinking to yourself, “Where’s my dating tip of the day?”, don’t worry. Here are a few tips for you. . .

1. PUT THE TIP IN FIRST: You don’t ever want to go in backwards.

2. USE THE DAVID WYGANT/BRETT FAVRE APPROACH: For those of you who may not be having sex today (and, hence, can’t make use of tip #1), you may need an approach tip of the day. So here it is: Say to the first person you see, “Did you hear that David Wygant just pulled a Brett Favre?” You want to talk about a great opening line! You meet the right woman, and she won’t know who David Wygant OR Brett Favre are.

3. 55 DAYS TO GO: For those of you who want a date tip, here it is. It’s November 5, 2009. There are approximately 55 days left in the year and before you will hopefully be staring at someone you’re about to kiss when the clock counts down 5-4-3-2-1 to midnight on New Year’s Eve. So the time to take real action on changing your dating life is now.

For those of you who want to see a very teary-eyed video, then check out the video I recorded yesterday. It will make you feel very warm and fuzzy…

Also, for any of you who are not yet on my subscriber list, I suggest you get on there quickly, because otherwise you’re missing a lot of special offers, private seminars, and FREE videos and podcasts that I give out just to my subscribers. You can sign up now in the box in the upper right hand corner of the page.

Back from a long trip to Europe, and back with my Sunday football picks. My record is currently at 17-3 and I’m ready to keep my good record with this week’s picks.

This week I predict the Texans will win over the Bills. The Bears will beat the Browns. The Lions will win over the Rams. The Jets will defeat the Dolphins. The Chargers will win over the Raiders. The Cardinals will beat the Panthers.

The Saint and the Colts will remain unbeaten, but the Broncos will fall to the Ravens. As for the two “big games” today, I am predicting the Giants will win over the Eagles and Favre will gome home crying in defeat.

Have a great Sunday, and let’s get to today’s blog!

At a recent Bootcamp, I had a conversation with the guys about what I call window shopping your life. I had a conversation about challenging yourself. (This, by the way, is a great example of what we work on during my Bootcamp weekends!)

Most of us window shop in our own lives. Many of us have had tragedies in our lives. As humans, it’s natural to want to change our lives after we survive a catastrophe, but it’s also human that we rarely stick with that plan to change.

We always sweep things under the rug. We all do this. It’s just the way things work. We get shocked into doing something or making a change, but we can’t help continuing to window shop.

So what do I mean when I say that we window shop our lives? It means that we fail to take action and really lead the kind of life we map out for ourselves. We go back to not being fully alive, and just wishing and wanting for the life we want to live.

The term window shopping is a good description, because it is as if we have a glass barrier between our life and the life we want. We can see it, but there is something in our way from actually living it.

A lot of people see this barrier as something that keeps them from having the life they want. In reality, though, we are capable of having that life right now if we take the steps to get it.

Why do we think we can’t have this life? We buy into false limitations. We don’t want to face that we need to take more action.

I often call people who just wait for things to happen in life “waiters.” They want things to change, and they keep hoping things will change on their own without them having to take any action on their part.

Once you begin to stop window shopping and to stop waiting, you will see how much time you’ve been wasting kicking back that you could have been spending living the life you want.

Life is too short, and you only get one! If you don’t take the opportunities now, when are you going to take them? So stop window shopping. Stop waiting. Take action today and start to really live the life you want.

	Let’s talk about pushing boundaries.

Many of you are your own worst coach. I’m a great self-coach. I can coach the hell out of myself and I can push my own boundaries every single day.

	Let’s talk about pushing boundaries.

Many of you are your own worst coach. I’m a great self-coach. I can coach the hell out of myself and I can push my own boundaries every single day.

Why? Because I coach everyone else for a living! I’m able to recognize my own weaknesses and accept them – and I can recognize that small gains are the way that you push your own boundaries.

Often times I hear men say, “tonight I’m going to go out and I’m going to get three phone numbers.” You haven’t gotten three phone numbers this whole entire year, but tonight you’re going to go out and get three phone numbers in one night? How?

That’s not pushing your boundaries – that’s just trying to be Aaron Rogers and take the Packers to the championship game without ever having thrown a pass. (You can see how I feel about the Brett Favre situation – and no, I’m not a Packers fan, and I think that they are ridiculous – what a battle of egos that is! Let the guy come back and play – he threw 28 touchdown passes this year! Good luck, Aaron Rogers, you’re not going to get more than 17…)

Or it’s like you’re a light-hitting shortstop who has hit one home run the entire season, but you decide tonight that you’re going out there and hitting three. That’s not pushing your boundaries – that’s just not recognizing small victories and gains and accepting them. That’s just being ridiculous.

So how do you push your own boundaries? If you go out there, and you say to yourself, “I haven’t had a conversation with someone of the opposite sex that has lasted longer than 15 seconds,” then to push your boundaries, you need to have a conversation that lasts 20 seconds. The next day: 25 seconds. The day after that: 30 seconds.

You need to push your boundaries and accept the small victories every single day. It’s not about becoming something that you aren’t overnight – it takes a long time to become that powerful, dynamic, social person. It takes a lot of time to become a great conversationalist.

So make a list of the things that you want to accomplish, go out there and accept the small victories. The small victories are what are really important.

Don’t try to win the Superbowl in one night. There is a reason why NFL players are in training camp right now. Why? To practice all of the little things so that they are able to succeed on Sundays.

You can’t beat the odds of life, guys – you just can’t. In life, everything takes practice, hard work, self-motivation and every once in a while, a kick in the ass.

Consider me that kick in the ass. For those of you that have never listened to my products, I really suggest my Men’s Mastery Series or Women’s Mastery Series – that is almost 13 hours of me kicking your ass the whole time. When you need a little extra push, I’m there to give it to you.

And for those of you who don’t want to reach into your pockets and buy anything, that’s fine. Come back each day and read the blog, and I will give you daily doses of ass-kicking that will help you realize that life is not a sprint – it’s a marathon!
Seattle Bootcamp is kicking into high gear. I love this city and this is an amazing group of guys.

Today we talk all about how to strike up a conversation by the bathrooms.
