This is the most surreal experience ever, being arrested at my local mall.

I basically relived the movie “Marathon Man” the other day. For those of you who don’t know this movie, look at the video down below and see what I experienced at the dentist.

For all of you regular readers of this blog, you know I nicknamed my dentist “The Driller,” and nicknamed her assistant “The Cutter.” The other day I was fortunate enough to have an infection in some recent dental work that The Driller had done.

We didn’t know it until the Novocaine started to wear off and I felt every bit of the drilling. We thought that some more Novocaine would help, but all that did was to make my heart go thump thump a little faster. It didn’t make the nerve in my tooth calm down at all.

So approaching the opposite sex is not painful. You’re not going to jump out of your skin. You’re not going to hear a drill in your head. You’re not going to get bad taste in your mouth from Novocaine.

Recently I launched a great product about how to get rid of approach anxiety. What I should have done was to take my video guy to The Driller with me and had him film the 25 minutes of drilling I endured without being numb.

If I can survive that, then you can certainly walk up to the hottest person you see today, smile and say hello. What’s the worst thing that could happen? You’re not going to jump out of your skin. Really you’re not going to feel any pain at all except the fears you’ve associated with doing it.

For those of you who really want to overcome your fear of approaching, go to your dentist when you have a really deep cavity you need to have filled — one that requires them to drill for a good 15 minutes — and videotape it as you have them drill without giving you any Novocaine. Then the next time you are tempted to complain about the pain you experience approaching the opposite sex, we can show you the video so you can see what real fear and pain is.

Halloween is the night that singles go out to talk to and meet characters who are like people they really want to meet. It’s also the night they go out as the character they’ve always wanted to become.

It’s really funny about Halloween. People get dressed up as what I like to call their “alter ego.”

Women will dress up in lingerie because they want to go out and have sex that night. Men will dress up as a super hero because they want to be a stud around women.

What’s up with the men who dress up as women? Does that mean they need to be women? Who knows.

Halloween is all about having a good time. Most of you, however, are guilty of one thing on Halloween night. You are guilty of chasing the night.

Chasing the night is looking for that one perfect party, and trying in that one night to make up for all those other nights that didn’t work out so well. It’s looking for that Halloween party that is going to deliver the most amazing people, so you can meet the most amazing person of the opposite sex.

In reality, though, Halloween is just one night. That’s it.

Today’s podcast is going to explore how to make the most of Halloween. I’m also going to share some costume ideas with you that will absolutely blow you away. These costumes are going to enable you not only to meet people, but will do something else that is amazing as well. You’ll have to listen to the podcast to find out the whole story.

I’ve found that many people, when approaching someone of the opposite sex, are just trying to close the deal. They are just trying to sell themselves.

Life is not about selling yourself. This isn’t a negotiation. When you approach someone you are attracted to, you should never go up to them and list the “ten reasons why you should date me.”

What it is about is getting to know someone. People want to do business with people that intrigue them. They want to do business with someone they can imagine being friends with, with someone that makes them feel comfortable.

So you don’t have to sell yourself so much! I’ve seen it all – people will really go completely over the top when trying to sell themselves. They are trying to negotiate a date out of someone rather than just relaxing, having fun, enjoying life and being fully present.

Life is not about negotiations. Life is not about selling yourself. Life is about presenting the best version of yourself based on who you are and your confidence.

Whenever I run into someone who is trying to sell themselves to me, I’ll look at them and say, “let me ask you a question: why are you trying to sell yourself so much? Let me get to like you for who you are – the REAL you. I don’t need to know just the good parts about you – let me get to know ALL the parts of you! Then I’ll be able to make an informed decision when it comes down to whether or not I want to hang out with you.”

So don’t sell. You might run into somebody like me – somebody who can’t be closed!

And don’t ever try to close me if you meet me. Just get to know me. I have lots of friends and a great network of contacts, and not one person I know is someone who ever tried to close me. They just got to know me.
