Great Blog.
When I was learning all this I often got so in my head and constantly tried to do everything so right that it became to much like hard work and then someone would remind me to just have fun. These are wise words...its great to have a structure and road map if you like on how you want to do something. But they should be something you check in on once in a while to make sure your on track, the rest of the time just have fun. The truth is, if your having fun then so will she...enjoy x

And I forgot to mention as kids when we would ride our bikes around the neighborhood & to the pool. And going to the county fair & then the state fair and riding the carnival rides in July/August. And going to theme parks like Six Flags and Opryland. I loved those days! :)

Today it's raining here, but weather permitting, tomorrow I may go to a nearby waterpark, and then go to a backyard BBQ after that.

In a few minutes I'm gettin out of here to spend the rest of the afternnon at Barnes & Noble/Starbucks. A nice place to spend a rainy Sunday. I recently joined a local church and met some cool people there so will be going there tonight. Have a great Memorial Day everyone!!

Looking back on summers, at least Memorial Days gone by, I remember my family & friends would go to the pool or the lake and have a cookout afterward. Sometimes my dad & neighbor's dads would make homemade ice cream and we'd sit on the patio at night, enjoy the ice cream & chocolate sauce my mom made, us kids would play games and if it was July4th(or close to it)we'd either have fireworks or go to a professional fireworks show.

Oh, and my friends & I would go hunt & catch lightning bugs(fireflies) and put them either in a jar with holes at the top or one of those clear plastic firefly containers from a toy store. When we caught enough and it was dark enough, they would basically be lightning bug powered lanterns.

And we'd also make forts out of boxes and go camping, sometimes in the backyard, sometimes in a state park or that summer vacation trip to one of the national parks.

And of course we'd go to the summertime movies, the blockbusters like the Star Wars and superhero flicks.
Those were the days. :)

Anyway, we shouldn't forget in all the Memorial Day fun to remember and be thankful for the real reason behind Memorial Day-the brave men(and women)who have helped keep us free for over 230 years. If you know a veteran of any war, including the current ones, thank him or her.

David - Sorry about your current infirmity. Stock up on ice and keep the inflammation down while you recover. Ice is cheaper and better for you than painkillers. Feel better.

On warm sunny days like today, I can still feel a little wistful for the dry hot days of my childhood. But I appreciate where I am now very much - especially when the alder pollen rises and the sneezing fits begin. I just drive down to one of the beach parks and walk from one end of the public walkway to the other...at the end, my sneezing has stopped and my nose has quit running. By the time that I make it all the way back to my car, my sinuses are completely drained/dried out from the salt air. A far more pleasant and healthy cure than saline nasal sprays and and the side effects of pharmaceuticals of dubious effectiveness.

Summer as a season reminds me of the sound of crickets at night and the freedom of time to waste getting a tan just by being out in the fresh air - none of that fake-n-bake tanning. Cooking out nearly everything on the menu, drinking fresh fruit daiquiris, playing a whole lot of games very badly because it really isn't about how you play the game - it's about enjoying your life with anyone who can get with that program and play their part with gusto.

Todd, during the Nixon presidency, one of his diplomats/aides/someone traveling with him, on a visit to China, needed emergency surgery,(appendicitis) and, supposedly it was done, using accupuncture, no drugs. Hence, came the introduction of accupuncture in the U.S.
