I swear, I have written 134 other blogs about what it means to be a man.

Today, I want to talk about taking responsibility for your actions.

Over the last year, I’ve gotten involved in some real estate deals with partners. One of them was one of my best friends and the other one was with somebody we did not know.

Of course we didn’t make the money we thought we were going to make. As a matter of fact, with some of the deals we didn’t make any money.

There were mistakes made by all parties.

I took responsibility for the mistakes I made. My business partner took responsibility for the mistakes he made. But the third party never took responsibility for anything.

He always passed the blame and passed the buck, always said he did his part.

The funny thing is the reason we didn’t make the money we expected was because of the way he dictated the terms from the get-go. He wasn’t forthright and honest, so we didn’t make the money we thought we should have.

He didn’t take responsibility for any of his actions and it made me think, that so many people are like this. They don’t take responsibility for their actions. They like to pass the buck.

I know a lot of people like this. I’ve been involved in love relationships like this, and that’s why it didn’t work out with those people.

I’ve been involved in relationships where people don’t take any responsibility at all. They’re constantly saying how they’ve done everything and the other person didn’t do what they needed to do.

The beauty of life, and this is something I want you all to know as men, is that we are the most imperfect, perfect beings.

We’re not perfect at all. We’re so imperfect that it’s what makes us real.

Every single day, we wake up and we’re going to make some kind of mistake. We can do a play by play of what we’ve done over the course of a day and find a mistake that we made.

That’s what life is all about.

There’s no playing it right, there’s no playing it perfect. Life is about making mistakes.

Being a man is about being forthright about your mistakes. Admitting the mistakes that you made. To me, a man is somebody who can admit when he’s wrong.

A man can admit that he made a mistake.definition-of-man

Otherwise you never grow as a man. You never become who you think you are.

It’s so important.

Thinks of this as another lesson about being a man. Lesson number 135 on being a man.

I can review my day to day actions and I can think about how I could have played things out differently. How I could have avoided making some mistakes? Or what I can learn from those mistakes.

Ask yourself how you can lead a life that’s authentic and honest, and treat people with compassion and kindness. How can you show up?

That’s all we can do.

All we can do is show up, and admit when we’re wrong.

It’s actually a peaceful thing. It’s something that will help you open up and grow.
