What if you talk to this girl?

What if you made that stock trade? What if you bought that house? What if, what if, what if?

How many of you are tortured by the what-ifs in life? Today’s video is to help you overcome those what-ifs.

About two years ago, I visited my mom in Stonington, Connecticut, when she was still alive.

I walked through downtown Stonington, which is an absolutely beautiful town in Connecticut, close to Rhode Island.

I stopped at a house because I heard kids playing, and I looked in the yard. The house was beautiful. It was an old house but all updated and absolutely stunning. I watched these kids play in the yard, they waved at me and I waved back. The mother looked at me and gave me a smile and said “how’s your day?” And I said “great.” She was a beautiful woman in her mid-40s.

I started to walk around town, and I thought to myself what if? What if is a very powerful yet destructive way to look at life.

What if I stayed in New York back in the early 90s? What if the bar I had on 23rd Street was on the upper west side where I knew everybody? Would the bar still be around? Most likely.Overcome

What if I listened to my real estate contacts that were telling me to buy something in New York? What would have happened?

I probably would have an alternate life. I made a decision back in 1993 to move to Boulder, Colorado, out of the blue. I never lived there before but just decided to do it one day. Didn’t even like the mountains. I just thought they were pretty and decided to move.

My life took an entirely different direction. My life, if I had stayed in New York, could have looked just like that house that I walked past. I could have met somebody who had family in Stonington, and we could have bought a house. Those could have been my happy kids.

I remember when I lived in Boulder, Colorado, there was a woman named Denise who begged me to stay. I decided not to. Decided to move to San Diego. What if I stayed?  In life, every decision we make leads to a whole new journey and a whole new path.

Even not talking to somebody we see out and about can change our journey and change our path. The power of what-if is unreal because we could all be living different lives. If you saw the movie Back to the Future, you realize he had to go back to the future to go fix the life that he actually changed.

What if? Every day, we have a chance to partake in the what-if. Every day we have a chance to change our destiny. Just going over and talking to some woman might mean you find the love of your life on a random Tuesday afternoon.

Just having a conversation with your boss about feeling under appreciated might lead to a job promotion that never would have happened if you played the what-if game. What if I talk to my boss? What if I talk to that girl? Our life is destined to change every day.

What if is pretty powerful. Our lives could be so different. Look at all the what-ifs. What if I bought Apple, what if I bought the property in LA and would be renting this property? What if, what if, what if. There are so many what-ifs.

All we can control is what we do. You’re going to leave a lot of what-ifs on the table every single day. There’s nothing you can do to change that. The only thing you can change is your action. I will instead of what if.
