Your problem isn’t that you don’t have enough money, your problem isn’t being single, and your problem isn’t being in a job you hate. Your problem is that instead of trying to find solutions to the obstacles in your life, you spend the whole time worrying about them. You worry about money, you worry about your kids, you worry about driving in the snow, you worry about the presentation you have to give at work, you even worry about being worried.

Do you Know Worry Is A Made Up Emotion?

Worry is another example of humans living in their heads. Instead of looking for answers, we play the “what if?” game with ourselves. “What if this goes wrong? What if she doesn’t like me? What if I don’t get the job? What if they don’t like my cooking?”

Worry is so negative. Worry preoccupies your time and space. Worry doesn’t help you find solutions. When you worry you feel nothing but stress and anxiety. Even saying the word raises your stress levels. Say “worry” 5 times quickly right now. Worry, worry, worry, worry, worry. It’s a terrible word. “I’m worrying.”

It sounds so forceful. In life, we have the power to choose how we feel about things. We choose what interpretation we give things, and what emotion we attach to it. We can choose peace, harmony, and contemplation. Or we can choose fear, anxiety, and terror. Which set of emotions do you think is the most productive for you?

What kind of decisions are you going to make when you’re in a state of worry?

They’re not going to be thoughtful, measured decisions. They’re going to be rushed decisions based on panic. It’s such an unproductive way of living life. When you’re stressed out, you can’t create. When you’re stressed out, you can’t be successful. Successful people don’t sit back and worry. They take action and look for solutions. You need to eliminate worry from your life as soon as you can, and start trying to take things as they come.

So How Do You Eliminate Anxiety From Your Life?

Here’s the way I look at things. There are 2 kinds of problems in your life. Problems you can do something about, and problems you can’t do anything about. The first thing I do if I have a problem I can do something about is to celebrate. I know if I come up with the right answer, the problem will go away. The problem isn’t permanent and I can fix it. I don’t worry about it, I start looking for a way to deal with it. As for the problems I can’t do anything about, I don’t worry about them. If I have no control over it, what’s the point in worrying about it? If I can’t do anything to change a situation, how is worrying going to make things any better?

I make a conscious decision every single day to eliminate anxiety from my life. I choose not to spend my time worrying about problems. You can’t stop problems. If you’re alive, you’re going to run into situations you don’t like. It’s how you choose to feel about them and deal with them, that determines the quality of your life.
