this is one i did here in nyc---a musical audio tour of soho & tribeca made by an absurdist artist. it's a little weird, wacky and interesting. works even better if you have only one mp3 player and a splitter for the headphones because then you have to walk close. you can stop and talk or ditch the tour altogether (also there is one for SF).

So i have to say i'm a bit disapointed in the responses. The article is supposed to show you how to have fun on a date not to make your date scared she is going to get thrown into a wall not to mention being a girl and not into one night stands i don't see myself no matter how secure i am with my body getting into a jacuzzi on a first date. But i do agree that the date is supposed to be fun and engaging to both parties involved, have fun don't put so much pressure on your date to get half naked and possibly do something that she will regret in the morning! Go rock climbing, try new foods, walk around the city, artistic stuff is always fun, but just keep the pressure off! That's the key for me!

All these ideas are great. like David W. said all you need to do is be spontaneous and different. Theres noting like being on a date sweating about what to say or do next. So if you do something on a date that your comfortable with, even if it's not the most exciting thing to her, you'll be more exciting and comfortable. Which is key.
I like sharing food. Something you can try is ask your date if she/he wants to grab a bite to eat. If yes, you can go to your local supermarket and find the most random made stuff in which you both can just walk around the city or town you live in, eating some pre-made sushi or something, and observe new things on the street/store windows to talk about. Which will probobly lead to something new to do after you eat. Or, it is summer, take her ass to the go cart track and put her into the wall! Both are fun.

Hmmm... I wonder where you get some of these ideas from, David ... =P

I know it's cliche... but jacuzzi dates can turn into something quite fun.... so are late night "empty" bars... and... walk in the park in the dark. You just have to be creative there. I'll let your imagination think of what you can do in those places ^^

My fav: 7. Be a Photographer!! Love it :D Reminds me of John Legend's song "We don't care/PDA".. YouTube it ;) You'll see what I mean:)

Okey, this is pretty lame, but I love jogging and going for walks..
How about if you find a map over a spot in a forest that you've never been to. And then you go exploring to see if you can find your way to a selected spot. Find some berries and enjoy :D hehe.. Nah, but a great spot is a spot high up with a view over some beautiful landscape :) Watch a sunset together.. Romantic!!

My favorite so far is a hobby of mine, free climbing/bouldering. In Plymouth we have a few sections of rock down by the beach, and its a great way to build trust with your date, with a little bit of touchy-touchy lifting a foot up to the right place, guiding her when she gets stuck on a particular section, or chalking up eachothers hands etc.

Often the idea of climbing without ropes is a little bewildering, so it takes a small amount of persuasion and teasing e.g. "I thought you liked trying new things/I thought you were spontaneous". You can mix it up a little with targets or whatever objects you can rest on rocks, then after a few hours climbing and finding the trickiest roots, you can just chill with an ice cream for a while.

Tried this twice, and again when we came back from a night out with a couple of girls a year or so ago, and its great fun. Of course, its not for everyone, as not everyone has rocks full of dents and grip holes, but I thought I'd share anyway!

I especially liked the Target date. I've done something similar to this, but with Toy's "R" Us instead.
