Yep, right on target David.
You know, it happened to me to talk again and again in a neverending story part XXIII.
That's what I realize some time ago, I will do "working on your own stuff. Lead by example" as you said.

And it works for my partner too, you know?

Why? simple: When you do you stuff, you get out from your comfort zone to do it, and do stuff most people normally don't do, people around you start at least to respect you a little more, they wonder about you, like a weird martian already stepping on our planet, hahaha, yes...

Then, something miraculously happened: she don't have the excuse that you talk but not walk your talk, then they feel out of guard with no excuse can cover them, and this goes straight deep inside our own mind, ONLY IF that person has built some integrity for themselves, of course.
If they don't give a damn to grow, they will NEVER do it.

I concur. Good post. In a relationship, you really only have control over your own behavior, actions, and self improvement. All you can do is encourage your partner, and hope that they don't take your suggestions negatively, and hurtfully, concerning their shortcomings. Isn't this the core reason for breakups and divorce?
