Before you read this blog, I have a little warning for you: If you are going to get pissed off that I’m taking a political stand, then I would suggest you stop reading this right now.
You know, every day I’m here giving you advice about how to fix your dating life, how to become attractive to the opposite sex and how to become the powerful person you’ve always wanted to be. As far as I’m concerned, though, if you don’t get out and vote then you will never become a powerful person.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t like the direction this country has gone in the last eight years. I don’t particularly like it at all.
I’m neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am someone who believes in and stands for a powerful America. To me, a powerful America is one which takes care of her own people, and stands behind what she says and does.
So which candidate will I be voting for today? I’m not going to tell you, and it’s really none of anyone’s business. It really doesn’t matter for which candidate I am voting anyway, as I am not looking to influence how any of you cast your vote.
What I am looking to influence you to do is to go out there today and take a stand. Forget about what the polls say. Go out there and cast YOUR vote.
In addition to taking a stand, going out there and voting is also one of the best ways to meet people. This is one of the only days I can take a political blog and turn it into one about the best ways to meet people. The fact is that election day is a great opportunity to meet people.
So go out there today and vote. Go to the polls and start talking to people, because if there’s one day people are willing to give their opinion it’s election day.
Also, how easy is it to talk to people when they say “So I’m curious, how do you feel about election day?” You could also say that to others.
There is red, white and blue all over the place. Patriotic America is in bloom everywhere today. You are going to be able to have great conversations.
So forget about which candidate David Wygant wants you to vote for today. Forget about the direction in which David Wygant would like the country to go. Go out there today and make your choice, whatever choice is right for you.
Election day is all about you going out there, voting and engaging people in great conversations. See, only David Wygant can turn an election day political blog into an election day dating advice blog.

Yes, voting is a great way to meet people. Thanks for the post. Some questions for your readers:
Do you think America is exceptional? Special? Or should just be another country like Germany (well known for their engineering and strange humor) and France (well known for cheese and Ru486)?
Do you think America should pursue greatness, or be put in it’s place?
What does greatness, in the context of a country mean?
Where would it’s place be, if it were not an exceptional and great country?
What does America stand for today?
What did it stand for in the first 100-200 years of creation?
What do you want America to stand for?
Do you think America sucks? Why? Where would you find a place more satisfactory for you?
I have very high hopes for America now. Besides one by Kurt Vonnegut this is the best commencement address I’ve ever read and I look forward to A LOT less irony in politics.

Just got back from cast my vote. I would’ve liked to have met a cool girl there, but all I saw was old people… very old people. Not that that’s bad or anything, but I just didn’t feel like discussing wheel of fortune today.
Taras — Your post cracked me up
And I must say, I also did not see a soul from an age group outside the main Wheel Of Fortune watching demographic …. but nonetheless, I still think that this would be a great conversation opportunity
ror at Taras, and don’t fire me David, but i’m not even registered!
Your vote counts. If you dont vote you cant complain about the results. Stake your claim in your vote and in your life!
Lol i thought you would mention how it’s such a great place to meet people — the lines were packed!
RAY, NOOO! you must vote.
Lexi,
you use very stereotypical way of describing Germany and France and I suppose, the rest of the world. If I would place my or general opinion of europeans about americans through the same lens of view as you did, I quess it would sound like this: naive and fat people and the country of Mcdonalds.
But such judgement is acceptable only for uneducated people or chauvinists. So my suggestion is – always be more diplomatic.
What about America, I rely on this country as a leading member of world affairs, even if it fails sometimes it still has the capacity to do good things. I think this will improve with your new president B. Obama. As he said:
“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, tonight is your answer.”
As this blog is about relations and communication with people, the emphasis is put on opposite sex, I have to say that I love americans because the majotity of them are so nice, witty and cheerfull. Yesterday I spent all day with american girl, that is quite rare experience, because there are not so many americans in my country, and I had very good time.
So, in my opinion, only interaction and communication can help us to know other people, but not stupid stereotypes!

I’d like to thank all Americans who voted for Obama!
One campaign (you can probably guess which) was full of young and beautiful people. Volunteering on a campaign has been one of the best ways that I ever found to meet women.
I’m still screaming over what went down last night! Unbelievable…
Taras,
Aren’t you a college student? I was in the USC area and voted on the USC campus. Guess what? There were plenty of girls to meet. You just have to pay attention.
As far as voting goes, I think it’s important. I was discussing this with my friend Jack yesterday and I believe people who don’t vote haven’t really taken the time to define their identity. When you know who you are, you start standing for something. You start having values that you feel are important to you.
Life rewards action. No matter what choice you made, it’s better to make a choice and cast your vote than stand on the sideline wondering which one would be better.
I guess for some people, life will go on no matter which candidate goes into office, but it’s really a question of taking charge of your life.
Make a choice. Make things happen. By taking ownership of the smallest things (in this case, voting), you’ll feel more empowered and more willing to lead your life purposefully.
Remember the previous blog about luck? Living in a free country and having the right to help choose the next leader of the country makes us among the luckiest people on earth. Don’t believe me? I once visited a country governed by a military dictatorship and saw machine guns on all of the policemen (not on soldiers) and children sleeping in the gutter in the fanciest neighborhood in their capital. Trust me, we ARE lucky, whether by accident of birth, chosen immigration, or honorable service in this country’s military. All can confer the right to vote and help choose leadership without having to justify your choices to anyone…it’s a secret ballot. And that country that I visited? It’s a democracy now. Our great little idea for citizen self-governance sustains more than just our little corner of the world. Be a part of it.
Every time i come here I am not dissapointed, nice post
