I used to fight with a boyfriend about shutting the bathroom door. I left it open when It wasn't occupied and he always closed it.He claimed it was because he used to have a cat that would tear up all the toilet paper if the door was left open. Well, in my experince leaving the door open signals that the bathroom is empty. So, I left it open without thinking. We had an all out row about it at one point -- which he started by the way. And, it turned out it wasn't just the cat thing. He also had some borderlin OCD and he really flet like his life was spinning out of control if the bathroom door was open. Obviously he really needed to deal with his OCD -- not lecture me about the practical reasons for closing the bathroom door. After that I tried to remember to close the bathroom door, but he also addressed the issue in therapy. Soon after that we broke up. But, not because of the bathroom door.
