Dear Kurt Warner: It’s All About Determination

You knew I was going to come up with some type of Super Bowl blog. I always do!

This one is going to be a little different, though, because in this blog I’m going to really “tell it like it is,” so fasten your seatbelts. This blog is all about determination.

So many of you still email me with your lame excuses for why you aren’t where you want to be in your life. Yes, I know, using the term “lame” is a little harsh sounding, but to tell you the truth I’m really tired of hearing them.

Everybody has excuses in life. We all do. Every one of us. Here’s what I say about your excuses: Get over it!

I hate taking such a harsh tone here, but so many of you email me wanting a solution to your issues yet you have never purchased any of my products. Never . . . not one. You tell me you read my blog every single day and love what I teach, but you have taken no steps to work on your issues by investing in yourself.

You want me to spend my time answering your questions for free, but balk at the suggestion that you should buy one of my products to be able to really help you and attack the issues that are holding you back from having the dating life you so badly desire to have.

Getting the answer to one question is not going to help you solve all of your problems. It really won’t.

So how does this fit into the Super Bowl? This actually fits immensely into this year’s Super Bowl.

Kurt Warner did not walk into the Ram’s camp eleven years ago saying “Make me the quarterback!” He had determination. He had an incredible work ethic. He didn’t hide behind his excuses.

After not being drafted in 1994, he bagged groceries at a grocery story until he was signed into the Arena Football League in 1995. He was determined to make it in the NFL.

Kurt Warner became one of the most successful quarterbacks in Arena Football League history, and did make it to the NFL when he was signed by the St. Louis Rams prior to the 1998 season. When Trent Green blew out his knee during the 1998 training camp, Dick Vermeil had no choice. It was the last game of the pre-season, and all he had was a kid named Kurt Warner standing there.

So Kurt Warner got the job. Even though Kurt Warner played in only one game in 1998 and attempted only eleven passes, he went on in 1999 to put together one of the most successful seasons for a quarterback in NFL history, including getting a Super Bowl Championship and becoming the Super Bowl MVP.

Determination. Kurt Warner had true determination. He worked hard every single day. He paid his dues.

So many of you don’t want to pay your dues. So many of you are looking for that “magic pill” that’s going to help you solve all of your problems or which will instantly change your life. You want advice and help, but you only want it if it’s free . . . and if it’s a “quick-fix.”

I spent the last couple of weeks reading through my old journals. What those journals showed was how determined I was, even during rough times, to succeed in life. The only way you’re going to succeed in life is to be determined.

During this year’s Super Bowl, Kurt Warner threw an interception right before half time that resulted in James Harrison rambling down the field and making a touchdown for the other team. Larry Fitzgerald made the biggest mistake by failing to strip the ball from or to tackle James Harrison as he should have.

Kurt Warner did not let this setback affect him, because he has determination. He took the Cardinals down the field for two more scores and put them in a position to win.

Of course, Ben Roethlisberger was equally determined. Santonio Holmes was equally determined. Santonio Holmes could have dropped that pass. He probably worked on catching a pass like that a thousand times in practice. Day after day, he was probably thrown balls that were too high so he could learn how to jump up and land dragging down both toes.

So many of you lack this kind of determination. So many of you will not even invest in yourself. Let’s forget for a minute about buying anything. So many of you will not even go out and do the things I talk about in the blogs. You won’t even go out there and talk to three people every day, because you think doing that is an “exercise” that’s not worth your time.

You continue to write me, though, saying that you want that phone number or to be good with the opposite sex. You want the end result – you want to win the Super Bowl – but you want to get there without putting the time and doing the practice every day that it takes to get there.

You have got to put in the time if you want to be successful. You must be determined.

I’m done. I’m done for today. On my Community Site, there is a 20 minute podcast for you members that is guaranteed to inspire you to go out there and do whatever you have to do to meet people. For the rest of you, take this message and really think about it, because I’m also determined . . . to help you! The question is: How determined are you to help yourself?

  1. FANTASTIC!!!! What an amazing blog. I am not one to post things but I feel inspired to do just that today. You have hit our problem right in the head. I say our because I fall into that trap often. Not just in my dealing with women. I would advise all of us to copy this blog down, print, tatoo it, or do whatever you have to do to remember its message. Thanks David!!

As Homestar Runner would say, “True dat!” Thanks, David. Sometimes, we need the good kick in the rear to motivate us. Determination is key. I made this motivational sign for myself that I put in my office that reads, “Complainers always think the ‘grass is greener on the other side’… The truth is, ‘the grass only gets greener where you chose to water it.’” My brother always used to tell me, “Losers make excuses, Winners make it happen.” Success in life rarely come free, it usually comes through determination and diligent effort every day.

  3. Life as in sport requires the same way of thinking in order to be truly successful. If you have ever played in the zone you will know that what it feels like when you truly live in the moment, it requires calm breathing, nonjudgemental observations and letting go and trusting yourself. Life imitates sport or vise versa but both when lived/played at its peak slow things down and everything is an effortless journey, you just can’t force it will happen at the right moment.

“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.#-Jesse Owens

  4. Hi,

This is a pretty funny way for a first approach.
So I just want to ask your opinion about this video.

If it doesn’t work try the link:

  5. I don’t think that David would do it like this, but it is a funny video so I only want to know your opinion about it.

  6. Just Adjust It February 3, 2009 at 3:12 pm 6

Let me help you on this David. For everyone out there, let me tell you something. I took one of David’s bootcamps approximately one year ago. When I signed up for it, I thought I was miracuously gonna be some babe magnet with the ladies after this weekend bootcamp with David. That was the instant gratification mindset I had pre bootcamp. I was seeking a quick fix, a superbowl ring without the practice time put into it. I WAS UNREALISTIC! After the bootcamp with David was over, my eyes were opened to how much ADDITIONAL WORK I have to put myself in a position to possibly find love. Which was the reason I went to a bootcamp. (I’m a buy to own guy, not a leaser :-D ) Till this very day, I’m still working on the things David’ teaches. I’m always investing in myself, trying to improve. I haven’t reached my goals, but I’ve made little steps so far this year. Being succesful at anything takes time and dedication. So for all you excusers out there, stop w/ the excuses! Stop wasting your time, wasting David’s time. Get your rear off that chair and do something. Invest in Davids products or whatever if you want to be better with the opposite sex! If you get something for free your saying you dont’ value something. Only when you invest something, is it going to be worthwhile. Hope this helps you David, and sorry about showing up late to ur pad this sat david, i’ll try to hang out again next time w/ u and everyone on the weekend if possible sometime. (HUG EVERYONE!)

  7. Johnny,
Pretty Pretty Pretty funny, makes for a great story down the road if you can pull it off. At least very unique and original.

  8. Anthony

    Cheers

Very inspirational! practice practice practice. Here’s a quote from a former boxing Heavyweight champ named Joe Frazier:

-”You can map out a fight plan or a life plan. But when the action starts, you’re down to your reflexes. That’s where your road work shows. If you cheated on that in the dark of the morning, you’re getting found out now under bright lights.”

As John C Maxwell also says, ”Even a person with natural talent has to prepare and train to become successful.

So don’t cheat yourself with quickfix, they don’t last. buy David’s product to improve yourself. (Do I get a free shirt for that) kiddin, (but do I?)

  11. Canadian VInce,
Hey get his products and then you can have something next to you on your couch..:-) No really, they come wih a free swedish penis enlarger for men and a tshirt for women that says “For Rent By the Hour”…boy the comments I would get right now wearing such a t-shirt..Not good

  12. Canadian Vince February 3, 2009 at 8:52 pm 12

I did buy a couple of his products and they are awsome. Gonna save up for a bootcamp just to add to the charm ;-)

” that’s not my bag baby” Honestly it’s not mine! / next we have a book writen by Austin power, Swedish made penis enlarger quoting ”thats my bag baby” (little Austin Power humour) Now there’s a ladies man.

But yeah, I would rent ya, I got some yard work to be done ;-)

  13. The Super Bowl that was the first time I had ever set down and watched that one for I wanted the Cardinals to win but they lost I had to ask my dad what it meant by 15 yard penalty. He told me the answer.

    Ok to the blog
Well o well lets see if I can count on my hands and toes of how many people I see a day and speak to you would call me a conversationalist. Did you know a person complained that I was overly friendly with people. When working with the public you are nice and smile. Just like the woman who checks out people at Whole Foods I am the one who checks out people in retail.
Those of you who want to whine and hope that David can wave his magic wand to make it better need to wake up and do something about it. That’s all folks

  14. Oh before I turn it loose for the night.
One time I was told when you buy you get cheap. It may be a free Country but sometimes people have to pay to get what they want. Thank you David for allowing me on the Community site and I know you really put your heart soul and mind into it.
    Sandra

  15. Canadian Vince
I know what kind of woman you want. That will cook, clean and pick up your dirt underwear and go to bed when u whistle. Hey man if u want one of them u need a housemaid not a wife.

  16. Thanks for the kick in the butt..I ordered one of your products today to help me stop being shy about giving out my number to guys who are obviously interested.

  17. Anthony- totally agree, nothing comes to us for free, no quick fix is gonna heal the wounds inside of us. There many people out there that think changing their face, body, hair, or some form of surgery will fix everything in their life, and that they will be happier. But after that quick fix, they’re still not happy because all their problems root from their inner core.

There is not shortcut to it, it is now or never, and happiness is on our own hands.

btw Anthony…I need a another adjustment:)

  18. Johnny- that a pretty funny video. He seems to me like a British PUA:)

  19. Lame? Yeah, a lot more harsh than usual, but sometimes you just need some advice that gives you a good pinch and makes you say…OUCH! Its usually the best advice you’ve ever gotten…

  20. Whoever Jeff W is I want to say I did not watch football when I was a child even but that night I really wanted to see the Cardinals win. Hey buddy if you want fans to see you at the next football session I would not do that. Men what can u say about them he is one I would chaulk up as a
LOSER! I prefer the Tennessee Titans anyway. The guy that signed my photo of him was nicer.

I love this Super Bowl Blog! Nothing like a bit of blood, sweat and tears to make us all become stronger, more loving, happier and kinder human beings. It’s time for all of us to accept responsibility for the people we are, stop blaming others for our lot in life and our failures, and learn how to change the things that we are doing wrong.

I am not in a 12 step program, but I do think that the AA Prayer is a great way to start and end everyday – and if you don’t believe in a higher power, then just adopt it as a mantra or philosophy.

Oh, and to the guy who was mad about this blog – GROW UP!

We need more David Wygants in this world! Thank you!

  22. The one true thing that keeps me from learning it all is money. If I do not have it to buy I try to learn as much as I can for as little money. I know it may sound harsh but I have to live within my means for now.

  23. Great Blog! More and more people should take the time out to read this! It really sends out a positive message to those that want to acheive their goals in their life as well as their romance life as well to have the lifestyle you want as long as you yourself take action and make it become your reality with improvement and practice.

  24. Jeff
Get a life a man…It is like watching a television show that u don’t like change the channel or turn it off.

  26. Determination is when you set a goal in life and try to achieve that goal. People who are handicapped or have a terminal illness have the determination to go out and do for themselves not sit home and dream and wish they could do something. The quitters are the ones who waste away and complain that they are weak and can not do anything by saying they are worthless. Some times we use someone a role model in life to pattern after. But why not be your own role model and live your life as it was planned. If your are determined to have someone in your life then go out and find that someone not become a couch potato and dream about it.

  27. Like the football players they were determined to win that game and become the Super Bowl champions and so the one with determination did what he had to do to win that game. All of them had determination but one thing they need to do is change out some referees.

  28. Johnny

That was one heck of a funny video!! Cheers to you bud! You went straight in there, no hesitation! What was the outcome? Did you all have a laugh together afterwards?

Bravo David, It took me fifteen years of hard work to even find a way to become successful at my type of art, and ten tears more to at least keep the bill collectors at bay in my business. Over the last 22 years I have had a constant flow of people wanting to get jobs as artists here, because they are so “good.” Yeah, I am going to pay someone to paint and draw while I do the dirty work!!! I look at it this way, if everyone in the world had our drive and determination, the market for our products would be so saturated that nobody could make any profit. Life rewards those who are willing to put in “real work” towards their goals. Lazy people make it easier for the determined to succeed. I laugh about those people that want something for nothing, it makes me feel even better about what I have accomplished. Paul Loughner

    Hey guys,
I especially love this post as David as usual just says it how it is. So many of you beleive you have issues or hangups that cant be overcom and you think that it is just so. 99% of you just need that kick up the rear. Don t get me wrong even I used to make exuses and find a reason why I didnt talk to that girl or why I wont go out that night but it didnt make me feel any better. It was only after feeling sick and tired of feeling so sick and tired that I started to take massive action. The thing is, once you start and you begin to learn and understand it becomes addictive so you want to learn more which gives you the fuel to keep marching on improving. You have to start that first baby step and get momentum. Get into the information here, get a product or excellerate yourself into a bootcamp if you can..either way you must get going. I now love interacting with everyone and I dont want to waste a minute…come on, lets go get a coffee and chat to everyone in the house…

  31. I totally agree. I’ve only been seeing massive results the past two weeks because I’ve been going out for hours a day. I keep finding new things out, getting less interactive with the community, learning to stay focused on the task-at-hand and building motivation and spirit.

In one week, or so… I made friends with like 5-6 new girls. Fun. I’d like to be more than friends with some girls, but what can you do? I’m working on having interactions where this will change. And I discovered the October Man! It’s pretty awesome… Similar to things I’ve seen before, but put into a format that seems like it would be very effective. I only discovered it like, a day ago so I’m trying to learn it the outline of it before I try it. I don’t really want to try it while holding a piece of paper with everything I’m going to say; in order. It could ruin the effect.

If I can manage to start OMing, and it works properly I’d have unlimited potential.

I noted sticking points. I’m working on letting this fade away, and building the strength needed.

I also found myself more willing to put myself in situations where I knew it could be uncomfortable, but it was actually very comfortable. I didn’t decide to escalate too much, though. It was for Day Game, and I wasn’t interested in her anymore… Yeah, I picked her up before.

A lot of my Inner Game came from music, as well. I listen to songs and confidence CDs. Especially while I sleep. I let my unconscious mind just absorb all the beliefs. It really, really helps and I’ve noticed a big change.

Being determined is the greatest factor in how far you will go. You can have great technical skills, and know everything – but if you’re unwilling to carry them through you won’t see any results. Thanks for bringing this up.

  32. I am SO getting the truth of this. I am a beginner dancer learning how to west coast swing now. I have 12 hours of classes a week, most of them privates. There are six counts to the step and I had to spend 45 minutes practicing steps 5/6 alone over and over to get it right. My mind fogs over with stress and it is embarrassing how long it takes me to learn anything. But I am determined! Earlier in the week we were practicing to this great song and all of a sudden it all came together, I relaxed, and the sweetest joy washed over me. It was beautiful.

I have listened to all of David’s products and I have practiced and improved. My biggest obstacle is that I’m not comfortable in my own skin and I am resistant to anything that makes me any more uncomfortable than I already am. I am looking forward to the time “it all comes together”.
