That cashier babe warmed up to DW tward the end of the video and was all smiles after she saw that DW had some lady friends with him and DW's projecting of a confident,polite, and friendly nature. Then too... DW was persistent and managed to engage the young lady in "small talk" by asking where she was from etc. Finally, DW didn't show any signs of impatience or irritability and was genuinely upbeat while waiting to be seated. High 5-ing" REALLY DOES work as a simple way to invite a woman to have fun with a man ( yes , i've high 5'ved a few women with excellant results) ! Cheers !

Yes, All it showed was "Mr. Smith" leading a group of 9 men and women to a restaurant to pay for a bite to eat AND hit on the hostess too. I think the hostess could have joined Mr. Smith's party too! Yes sir !

John, As I saw this unfold, I thot that Mr. Smith was "hitting on" the hostess by attempting to build rapport with her by asking her a personal question of interest as in ; tying to find out if she was from around the area... This observation is only my opinion though. That when a man asks a woman a personal question, it may lead the woman to thinking that he is interested in her-- for whatever reason.

With all due respect, the title of the video should have been 'How NOT to be the man'. The girl is getting paid to be friendly, that's her job. She would be smiling even if Darth Vader would talk to her. Apparently, she is from El Salvador, so she has not the slightest idea who or what John Smith is. The joke totally escapes her. When a guy asks her where she is from, and she says 'El Salvador', and the guy then tells her that he has been to Colombia, he has been to South America, she must inevitably think 'WTF'. El Salvador is in Central America, it is 1200 miles/1932 kilomters/1042 nautical miles from Colombia. It's like a woman telling you she is from Atlanta, and the guy saying 'yeah, I have been to Chicago'.

Man. Paid or not paid, I've had so called paid help get nasty with me from time to time. I submit <<< i was usually to blame, being in a bad mood, or what not. Still, a woman doesn't "have to be nice" . She can just tell her boss that the guy was a jerk. Whatever ??

I cracked up when he said "Smith, John". He's probably done that so many times. This is what being playful and having fun can result to: getting to eat at a place that only takes reservations. Y'all are acting like being able to seat NINE people at a fancy restaurant with no wait isn't awesome. Not a couple on a date but NINE PEOPLE.....NINE PUA guys don't turn around and explain what they just did. They make a separate video and explain it because they have fake techniques to hide. David has nothing to hide (except his real name lol) because he's being open and genuine. I agree though. It shouldn't be "How to Be the Man". It should be "How to Be a BOSS". Thanks David, keep them coming!

Alright... So EVERY woman in video said that IT IS possible to be friends with a man, while MOST of the men said that it's NOT possible. Hummmm.... This tells me that maybe guys have much tweaking work to do regarding their attitudes about "friendship" with women AND that women at least ARE OPEN to being friends. I'm sometimes confused if there's a difference in BEING friendly vs. BEING A friend. Is there a line of demarcation here?

It's more like president Obama showing up, anywhere: everybody wants to talk to him and get his attention. He doesn't even have to say anything. I know what I am talking about, I have been to South America... By the way, my experience is that most women don't really want a guy to be a comedian. Does anyone remember 'The Bold and the Beautiful' ? The men in that show are pretty serious most of the time, in control, and what they say has meaning. That makes them extremely attractive...

I think the camera is sort of interfering here. What we need is a hidden camera of some sort. I would love to see David hit on a real classy, intelligent, beautiful woman, not some waitress or store girl. The girl in the video is probably half David's age. Someone like Kate Middleton, the Duchess of York, Obviously that cannot happen because she is already married, but that type of caliber woman. A hidden voice recorder would be nice, too. Just to hear his tone of voice, and what he says.

Man, the excuses are flying left, right and centre on this blog! Guys, these excuses about: how David looks, the cashier is being paid to be nice etc... Are all just excuses to stop you moving forward and pushing through your fears. Recently, I noticed that although I knew how to approach women, what was stopping me was my excuses. "Oh I don't feel that great today, I'll do it tomorrow." "Oh, I'm really busy at the moment, I haven't got the time to have a girlfriend as well." "Oh, if I start approaching women, my friends will expect me to do it all the time, and I won't be able to live up to their expectations." All these excuses are just fear! I would recommend you checking out some of David's previous podcasts about fear and love to help you push through these excuses, because a lot of the people on this blog know what they need to do, but just aren't doing it!

Ben.. no one is making excuses! .. What exercise??? He's not DOING any exercise. He's trying to get a table. He's not trying to pick the girl up! And, she has not invested in the conversation at all anyway. She never asked him a single personal question. How many were in his party.. and his name.. FOR THE RESERVATION. NOT because she was interested in him. And, he answers with "John Smith". ?? So, she enters John Smith into the reservation, because she thinks that's HIS NAME. He didn't even bust on her for not getting the joke. In fact, I didn't even get the joke! John Smith.. WTF was the purpose of that? If he was going to make a joke, at least say your name is "Dover, first name Ben", or tell her "put it under Batman".. and when she looks at you funny.. say " shh.. don't tell anyone." , or ask her if she wants to come along and be your sidekick! lol. .. but John Smith?. I just didn't get that. To be fair, David has put out some great videos lately. I just didn't get this one. Especially the title. :/

John, I get what you're saying, but I never once said in my comment that he's doing an exercise. Yes, the woman is a hostess and some of the questions she is asking are the standard questions you would expect from a hostess, but then even if David put up a video of himself approaching a beautiful, intelligent woman next week, some of the posters on here would still reel off half a dozen reasons why they couldn't do the same! And, to be fair the video may not be the best illustration of "picking up" a woman, but one of the characteristics of being a man is being a leader; and you can clearly see David is leading the interaction and also leading the group he is with!

Yeah, I don't think he's leading the group. I'm pretty sure they all decided together where to eat. I'm sure David is getting the table because they are filming it. Anyone in that group is fully capable of getting a table without David's leadership. The smallest, most timid little woman in the group is fully capable of walking up to the hostess and saying, "yes, we'd like a table for 9". Seriously, I just didn't get the title.

I second that. Most of David's videos are priceless, this one seems off. There was one recently where David talked about the power of observation. In this particular situation, my observation would be that I am talking to a Latina, it's easy to see, she cannot possibly have any idea who John Smith is. Heck I don't even know who Ben Dover is. I could tell her I am from Germany and my name is 'von Ribbentrop', first name 'Joachim' and she wouldn't have a clue, she would probably ask me to spell it. Thinking again, mixing up Central and South America is probably something he could get away with, given the fact that the general idea is that Americans have no knowledge of world geography. She probably thought he was a slightly drunk guy spouting out nonsense.

LOL oh my goodness, appeal? There really must be other things to focus on.. You are absolutely right, its also a question of having the Freedom to choose! This ban cannot possibly ever go through..Its insane because there are so many other factors in obesity, eliminating large size soda is ridiculous.. I don't even drink soda, but it is just a question of principle! I feel a bit worried about the contenders..mmm hoping for someone better..not worse..

Haha you are right John..I didn't think of that, so people will wind up actually having the possibility of drinking more..so dumb.. Maybe I'll go whoop it up and get a huge soda for the heck of it just because I can loll I am terrible though, I usually take one sip and throw the whole thing out, not into soda..Love coffee though hehe Instead of worrying about soda, he should take intensive Spanish classes.. ;-) It is so true..we are known here to have huge containers of everything..I was thinking of this thread yesterday because we had a lady here from out Paris office. She noticed in the kitchen we have a 1 gallon container of Tabasco sauce (yes I kid you not, a whole bunch of salespeople pooled together to buy it because they love it so much hehe) So she was amazed by how large things come and are sold here...:-)I remember in Europe being amazed by the opposite, how tiny and small containers of anything were.. So we are know and appreciated for this here.. :-)

Nathalie.. It's so stupid. Someone who would have bought one 20oz coke will now buy TWO 16oz cokes, just to get around this stupid ban. So now, instead of people drinking a 20 or 24 oz soda, they will be drinking 32 ounces! It's PURE STUPIDITY! And sadly, no.. I don't think he has anything better to do.

Why would you want to control the size of people's drinks? Plus, apparently this would have exempt 7-eleven, which makes no sense at all..so people could still get it large size drinks there if they really wanted to.. The Nanny promised to appeal. Lol. He's never heard of a concept called FREEDOM. What's he going to do next? .. ban refills?? The whole thing is absurd. In America, you have the right to make bad health choices, as long as you take responsibility for those choices. If you want to suck down a 250oz. soda, and pour extra sugar into it, just to make SURE you get diabetes.. that's your RIGHT as an American. Seriously, I just don't understand how that guy doesn't get voted out.

Those huge sodas are one of the main reasons I come to the US ! Plus the free refills ! I spent many hours at Subway and Taco Bell, marveling at the size of the sodas. Over here in Germany, you can get 24 oz beers though...and nobody will ever try to ban those !
