5-4-3-2-1 . . . 2010

5-4-3-2-1 . . . Happy New Year! Or, wait a second, maybe I’m counting down too early — or too late. Maybe you’re reading this in Europe or in Asia, and you’ve already done the 5-4-3-2-1.

In any case, welcome to the next decade! How was your decade?

If you had to write your own personal history of the ’00s, what would you say? What did you accomplish? What eluded you? How was the decade for you?

I can’t believe it’s been ten years since all the paranoid people were worried about Y2K. What are we going to worry about next? Didn’t Nostradamus have a prediction for 2012 or something?

It’s funny how fast a decade goes by, and here we are now about to do the same thing we do every year on New Year’s Eve. Some of you will be chasing the night, trying to find the perfect New Year’s Eve party that doesn’t exist. Others of you will stay home for a night of deep reflection.

Whatever you choose to do tonight, that is your choice. Personally, you know how I feel about chasing the night.

To me, tonight is just another Thursday night. We are going to go grab some dinner, wish each other a happy new year, and wake up tomorrow on Friday.

Life to me is just a continuous journey. I treat every day as another day I can learn something new and exciting, and grow as a person.

I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, because most people break them in the first 24 hours. I believe in daily goals, because I’ve learned that setting small goals every day is the way to succeed in the long run.

It’s been an amazing 2009. I am very thankful for everyone in my life.

I am very thankful to be in love with a woman I think is the most beautiful woman in the world.

I am thankful for all of you who have followed my work, participated in the blog, purchased my products, and taken my Bootcamps.

I am thankful for everyone who works with me behind the scenes making this business and this website something of which I am very proud.

So let me leave you with one tip for tonight. If you’re not kissing someone at midnight, don’t worry about it.

Don’t think of it as not kissing someone on New Year’s Eve. Think of it as not kissing someone on Thursday night.

Not only that, most people have some really nasty breath tonight. They went out and ate at an over-priced buffet and drank some cheap alcohol. So, basically, you’re kissing staleness.

So, think of it this way and just enjoy whatever you choose to do.

Happy New Year!

  4. ok David I am not kissing someone tonight after reading this following quote:)

“Not only that, most people have some really nasty breath tonight. They went out and ate at an over-priced buffet and drank some cheap alcohol. So, basically, you’re kissing staleness.”

  5. Steve- in that case get yourself a over-priced buffet and drink some cheap alcohol that way you don’t feel any remorse:)

  6. hahahha Jacob sure will do that:)

  7. Thanks David and I’m very thankful as well, we have a great crew!!!

  10. I wish you all the best, and happy new year everyone. I look forward to meeting you all in the coming year!

  11. Jacob- whats your plan for the new year?

  12. David, you are welcome :)

And happy new year! I’ll be spending this New year eve meeting my g/f’s family for the first time “officially”. It should be a fun night!

  13. Howe-

I’m going to a house party with a girlfriend, not going to stay up too late I want spent some time my own thinking about the past year and my plans for the coming year.

  14. Hey Khiemi- That sounds fun, wish you both happy new year!

  15. Hey David!

Its crazy to think its been nearly a year and a half since I was on a bootcamp with you, adam, eddie, pete, justin etc!

As for the options you outlined,I’m doing the deep reflection one over this year. On the bootcamp I was obsessed with “chasing the night”, being as social as I possibly could, and chatting to everybody in sight like a “golden retriver” which I remember very well you describing me!

The past year or so I’ve done some amazing things I’ve been proud of. I’ve gone to drum and bass nights by myself, and made a ton of friends that in hindsight I could really have connected with after, without using any mdma/cocaine etc. I realise now that I never needed that boost. I’ve worked a lot harder this year, and I’ve been getting some great marks. I’ve met some amazing women who’ve really inspired me. On the other hand, I know I smoke far too much weed, and I’ve finally realised I don’t want to spend some of the best years of my life lying in bed, eating crisps and watching TV!

And so I’ve finally decided to establish a balance between the two. I like the quiet side, and the upbeat social side, and want to still enjoy those two sides to me. Tonight I’m more than happy to review my goals, have a peek at a few of your blogs which I havent read recently, and hang out with my family, and look forward to the future.

Hope everythings going awesome on your side of the pond. :)

    (not so crazy) Pete

  16. PS And a happy new day to everyone here too!!

  17. ok whats the address of this party Jacob ok kidding:)

but that sounds fun, I am thinking about that too spending some ME time.

  18. ME time is good HOWE

  19. PeteC-

You are doing great thanks for opening up and sharing this inspiring story. You realize that drugs give you temporary high, but the real high comes from living life fully, doing the kind of things you are passionate about. Keep working on yourself, and wish you the best in the new year!

  20. PeteC- do you still smoke weed to get over your anxiety?

  21. btw….like Jacob mentioned it takes balls to open up, and it was nice to read a real story about you.

  22. Petec- I used to smoke a lot of weed, one day i came to realize this was not helping me at all, so I started to really work on myself. SO let it inspire you that you are not the only one, and I made it through without smoking or doing drugs for an year so far. It wasn’t a smooth sailing but I made it.

  23. wow Howe i never knew that, well awesome job doing that!!!!

  24. David much love to you and to the love of your life!

And many thanks for the behind the scene people: Jacob, Kim, Kimberly and the rest of the crew!

Also best wishes to all the blog reader!

  25. Welcome back Julia and wish you a happy new year:)

  26. Jacob- please give my wishes to my favorite lady Kristen.

  27. Rick – I dont think it helps my anxiety at all!!
I’m quite typical of smoking during the day, then before going out I often cant be arsed and stay in!

No problem at all, im more than happy to admit I sometimes exaggerate what ive done on things like these, to put myself in a real mind frame to do what i say im going to.

CJ – thanks also! I try not to undermime the use of the words passionate/inspiring/thought provoking etc but yeah I definitely agree what you say. If you’ve heard that Miley Cyrus song the climb (its a very guilty pleasure song), thats definitely what I feel right now, and mimics very much what you just said!

YH – Yeah been thinking that for a long time too! Im glad that youve made it a year! Im intending to try and get back to the gym to bulk up a bit, so that’ll help my sleep as an alternative to doing bongs till you sleep!!

  28. * going to. I can confidently say that what I said was 100% correct after a lot of thought, now I’m 22 its a great time for me to look back at what I’ve achieved through my short term as an adult.

  29. HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody!!!

  30. yay!! BONNE ANNEE!!!!!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! FELIZ ANO NUEVO!!! CHING HUANG FUNG, something something, lol ahahahahahahahahaha

Looking forward for the new podcast. ;D

  31. hey david! happy new year. :) we already spent our New Year earlier. lots of explosions and deaf-inducing fireworks!

thanks for your stuff David. I’ve learned a lot from you and i do what i can to apply it to my life. :) keep it up! Your teachings of women, life and social matters are a big thing to me. I’m glad I stumbled upon your work (courtesy of a Yahoo! article you had)

The 00′s for me was a way of self-discovery and self-awareness. I’m still young (18) so i got a lot ahead of me. I want to enjoy it!

Happy New Year again David. :D

  32. Happy New Year to Everyone and not forgotten… to David Wygant..

  33. PeteC- The climb is a cool song. The gym will help you out, and motivate you as well. See you on the blog.
